  • South Carolina but originally upstate NY.
  • You are so right and it's called "personal responsibility". Something which has been lost in today's society.
  • I walk a minimum of 3.4 miles a day and usually closer to 4 miles and still can't get to the 10,000 steps most days. Sometimes I jog in place while watching TV in an effort to get to 10 thou. I am very impressed with anyone who does so daily. Now I'm wondering if my Life Trak gizmo is accurate. :noway:
  • I'm not surprised that you have been so successful losing weight because you have a "winning" attitude. Thank you for sharing.
  • poke holes in, nuke it till done (it never exploded on me) then slice in half lengthwise, sprinkle with cinnamon and a little stevia and spray halves with spray butter of your cholce. Love it this way.
  • walk/run 13-14 minute mile. Oh, and did I say I am 67 yrs. old!! Thank you MFP and all who have encouraged me.
  • I totally agree with you.
  • I bought a Life Trak from Amazon. Cheaper then a fit bit and actually does more. It's a watch, heart rate moniter, calories burned, steps taken, and it even monitors sleep patterns. It is a great motivator for a little less money. Battery good for one full year (no recharging) and is water proof.
  • Congrats to the Scottish for their vote to stay with the UK. :drinker:
  • Moderation moderation moderation. And that goes for everything in life. You are so right. I know someone (who is obese) who takes tablespoons of the stuff daily....straight up mind you. Two ways to lose weight. Calories in to calories burned ratio and exercise, shake your booty and get up off that couch!!
  • You are absolutely right.
  • You have taken the most difficult step. The first one and hooray to you for doing so. Stay determined and above all stay positive cause you CAN do this. Be patient and set reasonable goals, get a food scale, and if it touches your lips, log log log. :drinker:
  •
  • I totally agree....gimmicks may work for the short term but anyone I know that did the shakeology stuff gained it all back. I wish people would stop trying to seel that stuff to vulnerable people. Now for the OP (original poster), I am 67 yrs old. A shorty (4"ll) and had to lose 30 lbs. I have lost 22 lbs. in 4 months. I…
  • We so think alike. I didn't know it was you, Kathy, at first! But to the OP: I totally agree with this. Take it one further and have several of your friends call him also during his nap.
  • I am 4' 11" and even a little extra weight shows up immediately. I started MFP over a year ago. Did it for a few short months and then just quit. I recently started over. I lost 5 lbs on my own and then got serious with MFP. I have lost 22 lbs. in 4 1/2 months. I still have 20-25 more to lose. YOU can do the same. For…
  • Amazing insight for one so young. You look positively beautiful. Congrats to you. You are quite an inspiration to others.
  • Weighing frequently is a downer for me. The fluctuations from day to day (hour to hour) is discouraging. I now weigh weekly and sometime every 10 days.
  • Totally agree with you Sam. And yes, congrats to the OP. And thanks to him for sharing. And btw, I agree with him as well.
  • Just walking worked for me in the beginning of this wt. loss journey. But then I added, some zumba, some step aerobics and a little jogging intermittently. But I have been doing the walking for 3 months before starting the other stuff. If I walk, I don't do the other stuff and vice versa. Walking will help you to lose…
  • 4 months ago I was also diagnosed with "pre-diabetes" and the doctor wanted to put me on a pill. I refused, came back to MFP, got serious about caloric intake, (no desserts), and worked up to being able to do 4 miles on my treadmill. I recently had my bloodwork done again and it was perfect. I didn't deliberately cut back…
  • Did they say why they wouldn't do it??? Just curious. I don't use it.
  • Hi Lori....my name is Carol. I recently came back to MFP after being away for a year. I have been back for 3 1/2 months. I have 20 more lbs. to lose. I have a rigid exercise program. Many of my MFP friends do Beachbody workouts with great success. . I work out daily. I do either a 5K, Zumba or step aerobics. I change up so…
  • Welcome to mfp!! Friend request sent.
  • I certainly know what you are experiencing because we re experiencing the same here in the USA. I am spending more and more on food each week. And this seems to be especially true if you buy healthy foods. We keep being told our economy is getting better. I don't feel it. The only thing I do now, is go once weekly. I do…
  • I totally agree with you and I believe most recent statistics show that the time you eat has nothing to do with weight gain.
  • Extra good quality of aged balsamic vinegar and a little stevia is all i need on my grilled chicken garden salad. I add protein as needed to meet my quota. No oil needed or if I still have fats to fulfill I add a tsp of olive oil. And I try not to eat the same thing over and over. Egg beaters mixed with an egg white on…
  • I totally agree with you. I am shocked sometimes at the numbers that people post for "calories burned." MFP is definitely way over in their estimation. In fact, most gadgets over estimate. I never eat more than half of my exercise cals. and usually none at all.
  • I am your age, an avid reader and also had some medical issues before I decided to "tow the line." After 4 months of eating healthy, logging everything I put in my mouth, weighing and measuring my food and staying within my calorie allowance, my last blood work showed normal cholesterol and glucose. I started to exercise…
