  • I've just come back to MFP and come in search of you all. I've added my name to the bottom of the spreadsheet and updated it to reflect that I only only started weighing again last week. So I hope that makes sense and look forward to joining you all again.
  • Apologies for being very late to the party this week! Last weekend I was having "fun" painting... although I did weigh, but no loss. Hopefully can get the scales to budge a little more by this coming weekend. Congratulations to everyone on the losses. Keep up the great work. SW: 167.4 lbs Wk 1: 170.1 lbs (+2.7 lbs) Wk 2:…

  • I'm also post menopause due to forced hysterectomy the summer before last when I was 43. Have most definitely put on weight since then, but was also diagnosed with hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid) and no idea for how long. Although suspect with hindsight, for quite a while, as I lost 70lbs about 5 years ago...…
  • I was also recently told by my doc not to take my thyroid meds before a blood test. So for my recently review I haven't taken them... currently awaiting results to see if I'm on the right dosage. Funny, as when I mentioned to the nurse that took my bloods she said that it wouldn't matter. As taking meds you'd already have…
  • After a 2.7lbs gain last week from 3 days off Christmas eating... I'm glad the gain was only temporary and surprised, but pleased it's gone down again this week, despite New Year drinking! Managed to be fairly good for the rest of the time though and with New Year out the way, hopefully be a little easier. SW: 167.4 lbs Wk…
  • Just realised that I forgot to post here on Saturday... I did weigh... temporary damage (from 3 days off), but back to 168.3 this morning. So currently +0.9 lbs up which is not so bad considering I ate loads for a few days. Have to get back to doing some exercise this week... busy and lazy last week... so time to get my…
  • Starting weight: 167.4lbs Exercise goal per week: 150 minutes Personal goal: Do regular weight training and more toning for abs.
  • Didn't quite make 20lbs... but still so happy to be 16.3lbs lighter since the start of this challenge and look forward to continuing this journey in the St. Patty's challenge. Everyone has done so fantastic and seeing the commitment by others has been inspirational in helping keep going. So I just want to say thank you…
  • Logged in and changed my weight on Saturday... then must have got distracted, as just realised that I didn't post here then... so catching up! Was pleased the scales were still showing 0.3lbs down on Saturday, as on Friday evening I was out for our Christmas works meal and partook in a rare night of drinking alcohol. I'm…
  • Would love to come and join you all too for part 2... as this group helps keep me accountable by reporting in each week. Thanks SlotB for doing this... I will look forward to continuing with you at the 15lbs by St. Patrick's day new link. :drinker:
  • 1.2lbs down this week, so happy the scales are still moving. I most definitely agree though that reporting here weekly with a "weigh-in" has so helped with keeping accountable and motivation. SW: 183.7 lbs Wk1: 180.9 lbs (-2.8 lbs) Wk2: 179.7 lbs (-1.2 lbs) Wk3: 179.6 lbs (-0.6 lbs) Wk4: 178.8 lbs (-0.3 lbs) Wk5: 177.7 lbs…
  • Has your doc tested your thyroid levels? I too have a slow metabolism... but turned out it's because I have an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism)... so need medication to help it speed up a bit! But most definitely eat more. How many cals does MFP advise you to eat? Maybe use that as a base-line. If you exercise you will…
  • 1.3lbs down this week... lol, was hoping to reach the 160s, so near... so hopefully next week!! I've ordered an elliptical trainer / exercise bike combined... hubby's Christmas pressie to me! Gotta wait to 13th Dec for delivery... but can't wait for it to arrive. Then will have no excuses but to exercise! Congratulations…
  • I think it's not just the calories... but also the quality of the calories. Not sure if you've seen our posts myplacetohide... but also found this on how to calculate calories which may be of help to others. It does incorporate a slight reduction in calories for anyone that is hypothyroid.…
  • Agree that it's probably the introduction of a different exercise... common for muscle's to retain water. Ignore the scales for the time being and measure yourself... might be the same number on the scales, but bet with exercise those muscle's will get more slender over the course of a few weeks or so. Also maybe check…
  • There's quite a few of us who are nearly at or just got to the 160s!! Nearly there... but not quite... only 0.6lbs down this week, but hopefully won't be too long... gives me something to keep working for! lol It's such an inspiration seeing everyone's weekly total's tot up though! As they say, "you've got to be in it, to…
  • Scales have been a little nicer to me the last couple of weeks... hmm, not sure why... but won't complain!! I shouldn't say that should I, otherwise will go and jinx them! Can't believe it's only 5 more Saturdays until Christmas. :noway: It's great to see peeps come back though... let's keep up the great work everyone...…
  • Yay, finally half way there and for a change the scales have been really nice to me this week, so very pleased with that. Congratulations to everyone for the losses and especially to those that have already made 20lbs! Wow, that's awesome and a great motivator for the rest of us... let's keep going!! :drinker: SW: 183.7…
  • It sure is great to see everyone's progress. It can be sooo hard to keep going week after week... but the rewards are worth it, even if it does seem like slow progress. So keep up the great work everyone... Christmas lighter we come!! SW: 183.7 lbs Wk1: 180.9 lbs (-2.8 lbs) Wk2: 179.7 lbs (-1.2 lbs) Wk3: 179.6 lbs…
  • Pleased to see the scales have finally gone down this week... as last weekend went out for my hubby's parents 50th Anniversary meal, with a night of drinking! This was followed by a large breakfast in the pub where we stayed - cereal, a full English and toast. A great weekend though, so was worth the 2 days off. :) SW:…
  • Still slow progress, but least in the right direction and have introduced some elliptical to go with my cycling. Alas, so hopefully building muscle which is heavier than fat!! SW: 183.7 lbs Wk1: 180.9 lbs (-2.8 lbs) Wk2: 179.7 lbs (-1.2 lbs) Wk3: 179.6 lbs (-0.6 lbs) Wk4: 178.8 lbs (-0.3 lbs) Wk5: 177.7 lbs (-1.1 lbs)…
  • SW: 183.7 lbs Wk1: 180.9 lbs (-2.8 lbs) Wk2: 179.7 lbs (-1.2 lbs) Wk3: 179.6 lbs (-0.6 lbs) Wk4: 178.8 lbs (-0.3 lbs) Total: -4.9 lbs 15.1 lbs to go. The scales haven't moved that much the last two weeks, but at least are moving in the right direction!!! Doc has upped my dosage of Levothyroxine for underactive thyroid, so…
  • SW: 183.7 lbs Wk1: 180.9 lbs (-2.8 lbs) Wk2: 179.7 lbs (-1.2 lbs) Wk3: 179.1 lbs (-0.6 lbs) Total: -4.6 lbs 15.4 lbs to go. Moving slowly in the right direction. Have been cycling more recently including on Friday before weighing on Saturday... so hoping that muscles are currently retaining water and that some more will…
  • I would say go see a doctor as soon as possible too. It could be absolutely nothing... but my mum lost a very dear friend of hers the other day who had been feeling "funny" for a few days... so please don't take any chances and get yourself checked out.
  • I have recently rediscovered the wonders of cycling. Hubby and I bought mountain bikes back in April, so we've been trying to get out as often as we can. Aiming for 2-3 times a week at the moment... about 11-15 miles each time out. I've been recording my bike rides in the free mobile app MapMyRide which has GPS tracking,…
  • 1. Focus on achievements... how far you've come, NEVER how far you still have to go. 2. Don't let one meal or over snacking make you think that you've failed... you may have fallen off the wagon for a moment... but just jump straight back on. In the grand scheme of things it's just a little bump in the road. 3. I now make…
  • SW: 183.7 lbs Wk1: 180.9 lbs (-2.8 lbs) Wk2: 179.7 lbs (-1.2 lbs) Total: -4.0 lbs 16 lbs to go. Considering went out for son's 17th birthday meal on Wednesday, pleased managed to pull off a loss. Thank goodness I went cycling twice this week... 32 miles since last Friday. Keep up the great work everyone! We can do this!!…
  • More cycling today... glutton for punishment... 11.3 miles after work (75 mins)... circa 410 calories burned according to MFP. MapMyRide... says 578, but will take the lowest one. 32.72 miles since Friday and the most I've cycled in one week. Yay, more hills accomplished that previously I was walking... so a great feeling…
