The "lunks" I hang around are engineers who think its fun to heave iron at lunch. The company gym is loud with grunting and clanging weights at lunch....and not one single one of them would be offended by being called a 'lunk'.
-
I lift regularly. I find the ads hilarious... (and I love lifters, and hang with them a lot). But the ones I hang with are not 'offended' by PF commercials. I have to say, if you are really offended by them, I am baffled....
-
I think that this whole thread shows that people are overly crazy about political correctness. It's a friggin' funny commercial! (set of commercials) Come on! If you lift you aren't really insulted. This is more pride disguised as offense....

This thread is supposed to be for dogs, not small bears...

yep...

Won't keep spamming, but if you're interested in the subject, his book is well worth the read. (well, most chapters. I think he does need a better editor for some of the long-winded ones.) Chapter 9 is really a great and informative read though. TLDR: After a year of maintenance, most people see no large change in RMR…
-
Long section on RMR: Looking at the magnitude of the drop, a primary factor is still BF%. In the Category 3 individual losing a moderate amount of weight, the total adaptive drop may be no more than 150-250 calories. Of this decrease, perhaps 10-15% is due to the changes in RMR and this amounts to roughly 15-40 calories…

The Adaptive Decrease in TDEE Although I will look at the individual components below, I want to start by looking at the size of the adaptive decrease in TDEE first. As with the changes in hunger, much of this is determined by initial and ending BF% along with the total amount of weight and fat that is lost. In the case of…

Short term Changes: Adaptation to Diet and Fat Loss When someone reduces food intake or in response to dieting, there is a fairly stereotyped response in the above systems. Due to less total food being eaten, less of the fullness hormones such as CCK, PYY, etc. are released. Ghrelin levels are also increased overall and…

So in actual important news, WhooHoo! Mars Lander!

Did the watch say that your active calories are 391, or total calories. Total calories include the calories you would have burned sitting on the couch eating pizza. Active calories are the additional calories you burned by performing exercise. If you have MFP set to 'sedentary', you would eat back the active calories.

Yeah, this rant is what's called, 'crocodile tears'. That's also why the OP's vent is so ridiculous. Mocking overly politically correct culture, while simultaneously crying that fit people are being made fun of....

Not the Boston one, but here's another one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98mBl9d0dew

I wish I could find this vid which was widely circulated here in MA after a big snowstorm. A Boston newscaster was standing on the street corner taping his news segment and commenting on the empty streets, when suddenly two joggers go by. He stops them and asks them about their jog. It turns out that they're from CA…

No one is claiming that this was the end of the world. (YOU are the one trying to make a big deal out of my question) I just found it annoying, and wondered if I was an oddball. Apparently not, as many agree that this is annoying.
-
Maybe I am HUH!! Didn't think of that, did ya!! :)
-
It annoyed me because: 1) I'm a geeky introvert. (I'm an engineer.) I despise anyone trying to talk to me at the gym. 2) Before starting her treadmill, she took some time bending over pretending to do something with her shoes, but I could feel her eyes on me looking me over. 3) She looked my controls over after starting…
-
Yes, I hate when they start peering at my controls...
-
I ordered one! I want the "I bench 350" one too, but not there yet....
-
Which is your favorite?
-
I Crossfit at lunch. I eat before (so I don't pass out) and sometimes have a protein bar after.

Why should she (lie in her bed), when she can lie in yours? Love your fireplace! I want to rebrick ours...
-
So you feel that because they haven't, no other woman could have?

Awwww... the poor gym bros are offended by the PF ads! But they're not displaying victim mentality...no, no. THEY"RE not complaining about American PC culture..... Not just because the poor babies post a PF hate thread here every single frickin' day to say how offended they are... I'm going to very non-PC here to make you…
-
So... you're a guy? Because I've definitely been given unsolicited advice.... Women-only gyms exist for a reason. Planet Fitness gyms exist for a reason. The OP's rant is exactly why some people don't want to go to 'bro' gyms.
-
Yes, that is what I did. (in other words, eat at maintenance and don't log 'breastfeeding') But some peeps want to, sooooo whatev..
-
Yes, you need to eat more breastfeeding since you are 'giving away' a bunch of your calories. I suppose when non-moms see it as 'activity', it might be surprising. But consuming about 500 calories extra per day is recommended by all breastfeeding organizations...

That's almost as mean as the person with the camera watching it happen...

I did comment once when a co-worker told me he burned off the Snickers bar he just ate by walking the stairs of our 5 story building "up and down, twice". I just said, "well, I typically burn about 200 calories running for a half hour". He didn't believe me, and went and googled 'calorie burns'. Lets just say that he found…

I want to know why that dog is still using a typewriter....Seriously, someone get him a laptop or ipad..
