Apple Watch Calories vs Eliptical Calories

Hey all. This has probably been asked before but I couldn’t find an answer when I searched the threads so here goes:

What tends to be more accurate, the calories that my Apple Watch tells me I burn doing an exercise (30 minutes on the eliptical) versus what the eliptical says? I’m very new to exercise and, although I’m not tracking it in MFP, I’m just really curious what I’m actually burning.

My watch told me I burned 391 calories and the eliptical said I burned 252. That’s quite the dramatic difference! Any ideas?

Well your watch would have all your info like weight and heart rate. The amount of calories you can burn during exercise depend on those things. I would say your Apple Watch is more accurate

Did the watch say that your active calories are 391, or total calories.

Total calories include the calories you would have burned sitting on the couch eating pizza.
Active calories are the additional calories you burned by performing exercise.

If you have MFP set to 'sedentary', you would eat back the active calories.

The 391 is active calories. My total calories are in the upper 400s.
