  • I'm 5'5 (and a half) and 178 lbs. Current jean size is 16... :-(
  • A few thoughts... 1. Try to only weigh yourself 1X per week; 2. Try to weigh yourself at the same time of day and wearing the same clothes; 3. If you are losing inches, then you are seeing results and eventually, it will balance out as you are burning more calories to maintain muscle than to maintain fat; 4. Weight on the…
  • I did Ideal Protein. On that plan, the average is 3 to 7 lbs per week (for me it was 3 lbs per week on average). Therefore, you could pretty easily lose 48 lbs (or more) by sticking to it. Through regular healthy eating and exercise, I would bank on about 30 lbs (that is 2 lbs per week) if you stick to it! Good luck!
  • Just watch your portions and consider it a "cheat day"! Canadian/American Chinese cooking is loaded with sugar and starches (even the vegetables, I'm afraid). Even the sauces may have sugar. Enjoy once, in moderation, and then move on!
  • I once read: "only water is water".
  • You should try to only weight once per week. Your weight can fluctuate due to the following things: - Time of the month; - Digesting a big meal; - Constipation; If you are exercising, you could also be putting on muscle mass in addition to losing fat. This will initally make it seem like your weight is going up but it…
  • I will stick to my 2 liters (8 cups) per day (+ coffee and tea), thanks! Great goal to make sure you get enough water though! Kudos for that! There are some things that can help: keep a water bottle close at hand all day, have a glass of water before every meal and snack and you will probably eat less and you'll get at…
  • I find it sad and misguided... To me, this is a mental illness and should be addressed. This woman needs serious help and so do her children. We need to have interventions for this sort of thing. I can understanding not wanting to diet and become uber thin. I understand embracing your curves but this goes way beyond that!…
  • Vegetarian omelet and/or whey protein shake.
  • Step away from the brownies! You are awesome... you have been doing so well... you are lookin' and feelin' good! Brownies will make you feel disapointed with yourself and will sabbotage your efforts... and as you said, those ones are not worth the cheat! ;-) I carry a sample sized bottle of mouthwash around with me for…
  • On weekdays: an egg omelet (2 eggs whisked with a bit of water, salt & pepper), cooked in the microwave (no butter, no oil) with multigrain toast and a bit of butter. On weekends: soft boiled eggs with multigrain toast and butter. Occasionally: raisin toast with peanut butter or multigrain toast with peanut butter and…
  • Without further details and in a nutshell: Eat plenty of lean protein and vegetables and go easy on the starches (bread, rice, corn, potatoes, sweet potatoes, squash, carrots, peas). Sugar is the BIG enemy here!!! Also make sure you are getting enough sleep and drinking plenty of water. Exercise helps and watch what you…
  • That is excellent! Congratulations! I recently lost 30 lbs doing Ideal Protein and now, I am on maintenance and definitely needing to do some toning... I have the 30-Day Shred and just need to actually do it! I think you have just given me the motivation that I need to get started! I really want to rejoin the gym and start…

  • Congratulations!!!
  • Firstly, I would suggest switching from regular table salt to sea salt. Then, I would say that you have to cut down on prepackaged food. Prepare in advance (evenings, weekends). You can cook foods ahead and freeze them for convenience. The best way, is to stick to foods in their purest forms: raw or steamed veggies, cooked…

  • Have you looked into Ideal Protein... it works and it's fast (average is 3-7 lbs per week, depending on the person). It is VERY restrictive though (and it s a NO CHEAT diet) and it can be expensive. I lost 30 lbs in 3 months but I have a thyroid problem and I am probably older than you are, which makes weight loss somewhat…
  • You can buy brands with no (or low) sodium... ask at your grocery store. I think "Maple Leaf Natural Selections" is an example. If not, how about making your own sandwich fillings the night before (egg salad/fried egg, tuna salad, sliced cooked chicken, sliced roast beef, sliced roast pork)? You could also buy fondue meet…
  • If you are hungry, you probably need more protein. If you are not vegetarian, ry to make most of your meals consist mostly of meat/fish/poultry and vegetables. Example: Breakfast: eggs (maybe 1 whole egg + egg whites, which are lower in calories) - scrambled, omelet with veggies, etc. + 1 slice high fiber toast or an…
  • Consider getting a Cobber: http://www.bodycool.tv/english.html Available in most camping and outdoor stores. I bought mine at a Tilley store but I've seen them around when looking!
  • A few ideas: - Hard boiled egg, preferably the white only (or 1 whole egg + 1 white) - Cooked ham slices (no sugar, low sodium) - Dill pickles - A protein bar (ProtiLife, Pure Protein, Atkins) - A protein shake - Yogurt (plain or with fruit and/or granola) - Almonds, walnuts, pistachios - Low fat cheese - Triscuit crackers…
  • I lost 30 lbs in 3 months doing Ideal Protein. Prior to that, I was counting calories and exercising but it only got me so far and then I plateau'd for over a year. I would say that you need to eat mostly protein and vegetables, being careful to limit or even avoid veggies that are high on the glycemic index (squash,…
  • I like it best with: a splash of low-fat milk, a tsp of cocoa, a tsp of peanut butter and just a bit of sugar or Stevia.

  • I got this on my FB the other day: Whether you think you can or you think you can't, you are right. Remember a positive attitude makes ALL the difference!! :) I think you've got the right idea breaking it down into smaller goals. As you achieve each one, you are one step closer to your final success story! If reading about…
  • Protein is what is going to help you feel the most full: you can buy a protein shake to have in addition to whatever else you are having or make a smoothie with milk & yogurt, or toast (high fiber bread is best if you can tolerate it) with low-fat cheese, eggs, lean cooked ham (watch for sodium and sugar)... egg on a whole…
  • Congratulations on taking this step! I love the 30-day-shred (levels 1 and 2 - I have not attempted level 3 yet)! In my opinion, how long you stay at a level depends on your own personal level of fitness and your cardiovascular endurance. I would say that if you have been mostly sedentary up until now, to even just do it…
  • Best of luck to you! I've lost 30 lbs on IP since March 14, 2011. It worked really well for me and I loved it! I did mix it up a bit by making stir fries and lots of grilled meats... I also love salads. I am now in the process of phasing off from phase III to phase IV and looking to see how maintenance is going to work for…
  • Personally, if I am very sick, then I have bigger concerns than "diet". My health comes first no matter what and I will do what it takes to get better and go back to focusing on "diet" when I am healthy and strong again.
  • Congratulations on making fitness goals! If you are losing inches but gaining weight, you are forming muscles. Your body uses more calories mainting muscle than fat, and so, the weight will eventually come off if you keep at it. My advice, and I am not an expert, would be to make sure that you are eating the right things…
