So how much water is enough? Probably not the eight glasses we've always been told. Eight 8-ounce glasses is fine if you only weigh 130 pounds. To calculate how much water you need, divide your weight in half. You should drink that many ounces of water each day. If you weigh 180 pounds, you should drink 90 ounces of water.

Great goal to have :) I started drinking anywhere between 80-120 oz per day and this really helped with my weightloss. Here's what I do that has helped me. I take 2 water bottles to work every Monday. I put one in the freezer at work, and drink the other. As soon as I'm done drinking the one, I refill it, put it in the freezer and start drinking the other one. The fact that I know they'll freeze and I won't be able to drink them makes me focus on it a little more. I've also read that drinking ice cold water actually burns calories because your body has to heat it up. So it's a win win :) Good luck on your challenge!!!

I do struggle with drinking my water, and am going to try harder today, but if I was to drink half of my weights worth I would def float away. LOL I do good just drinking 8 cups. But good luck.

I would like to do it! Say I weigh 210.. I am not sure if this is accurate. Last I checked I was 204.. Im assuming I gained some weight since then. Would I have to drink 105 oz??

I'd spend all afternoon in the bathroom even more than usual, think I'll just stick to 64 to 80 ounces like usual.

I bought a 64 ounce water bottle at the dollar tree. I freeze it and take it with me to work in the morning. I drink that thru the day. It is much easier to drink it when its all there like that. I should probably drink another bottle after that but I figure if I at least get the 64 ounces I should be ok.

You wouldnt float....and u'll actually burn calories running to the bathroom! Trust, when I was 230, I successfully drank half my weight (115)! U can do it!!! 8oz is adequate for those within their ideal weight.

OHHHHHHHh LOL, for some reason, I presumed you were going to drink half you weight, as in, pounds of water. I did the math quickly, and 100 pounds of water is a lot.....

LOL!! OMG! We would all be big water balloons rolling around!

I already do this & then some. I keep a 25+ oz bottle at work and am refilling it at least 4 times during the day. Then I'll drinker another 32+ ounces at home. Water is typically all I drink though; no coffeee, little if any soda; and milk w/ my cereal.

When I am trying to lose weight I REFUSE to drink anything but water! I want to save those calories and flush out as much as possible! lol!

OMG! I swear I HATE the bathroom now haha. Yesterday I was in it every Half hour! My mom says that eventually I wont go as much because my body will get use to it. I sure hope this is true!
  • I will stick to my 2 liters (8 cups) per day (+ coffee and tea), thanks!

Great goal to make sure you get enough water though! Kudos for that!

There are some things that can help: keep a water bottle close at hand all day, have a glass of water before every meal and snack and you will probably eat less and you'll get at least 3-4 glasses in that way alone (more if you use a bigger (10-12 oz?) glass)! I also find that I drink more when I drink through a straw!

Oh good! lol.. Well then, I am definitely going to do this starting today! I know that especially in the beginning of a "diet" you can lose ALOT in 2 weeks from drinking lots of water. I lost 10 lbs once in a week just by drinking nothing but water. Its AMAZING. ( I did eat lol, just within my 1200 cals a day)
