  • Forgot about the cabbage--I put shredded cabbage in there, too
  • I read the recipe months ago for home made turkey rolls but never got around to making them. Since I've been eating WAAAAAYYYY too many real egg rolls lately, I figured I better find an alternative, so I made my own. I used turkey burgers chopped up (the only turkey I had in the house), a little soy sauce, some red and…
  • The government has a great "virtual" trip across the country you can do--i started it last year and made it to kansas before winter hit! Go to this link and register--it's free! You then enter your daily mileage and if it's cycling, walking, etc. And it shows you where you are in the country, virtually. I found it a great…
  • Hi all, Popping in real quick to say hi! Thanks for all the messages from everyone of support and encouragement! I haven't had time to reply to everyone. My schedule continues to be unbelievably busy--got a funeral later today and my husband's step-mom is doing very badly on top of it all. Anyway, I have been doing better…
  • It's Your Birthday, it's your birthday! Happy B-day!
  • I'm going for a 22 mile bike ride! Longest one since before Christmas for me. :ohwell:
  • Thanks again everyone! My schedule right now is near ridiculous. I've been going since 6 this morning, still have a meeting to go to tonight, and probably will be working until late late late. I'm at least 2 days behind right now! We're planning our own VBS this year around a Creation Care theme and that is taking a HUGE…
  • Hi all--I'm back again. Sorry I disappeared again. Oh boy--what a couple of months. I've been busier than you-know-what. Plus, this cold weather just has me depressed--I hate it! I haven't been able to get on my bike in forever, and I just couldn't force myself to the gym. I came to really dislike going--I don't know why…
  • Wow--sounds like you're year will be busy! The Tour is pick your length--I think they offer 25 up to 100 miles. I signed for the Century but....it's in April and depending on much cycling I can squeeze in between then and now, that can change! It's too cold to ride right now--and windy like all-get-out! the Wild Goose is…
  • Hey JAD--you planning any Tris this year? I tried to register for The Wild Goose Chase ride but it "sold" out in less than like a day! I'm backlisted for it now. Got my first big ride in March or April--doing the Tour de Cure over in Chesapeake across the Bay.
  • Been gone for weeks--well, gone from MFP. Busy at various things plus a lot going on. Been away and stuffing my face :frown: Back now though!
  • Let me add, too, that the 80s is not low--hypo isn't until lower than 70. If you're not used to those numbers, then it will feel odd at first but soon you'll feel yourself feeling better and better. Make sure you're eating before exercising, too!
  • Eat more plus pick snacks like PB and/or honey that will keep you BG levels at a good level. Also, don't forgot that you can use glucose tablets when needed.
  • Thanks all! I'll be checking back in more here in the next few days--still catching up after vacation right now. Missed y'all too!
  • Hi all--I'm back from my hiatus. I'm heavier I know but I'm not even going to weigh, as it will just depress me. So, starting fresh today and will weigh in a bit. Took almost a month to just kick back and basically blow it! And, boy, did I blow it! Didn't track a thing, eat pretty much what I wanted--ate out ALOT, lots of…
  • Hi All, I haven't been on much recently. I've been swamped with Church Christmas preparations and taking care of my old dog, Emily, who become very ill with her cancer. We finally had her put to sleep this morning. I had gotten to 202 but the last 10 days or so have just been really blowing it. The emotions over knowing I…
  • 1) You're older and with us "older folks," it's a slow process 2) How many calories are you eating a day? Because 2 pounds a week is really probably too much to aim for. I suggest you change your goals--shoot for 1 pound a week. One pound a week is about the healthiest amount to lose, and your doctor will probably say the…
  • No overtime for salary workers. Unless that is specifically stated in work contract/agreement. Salary employees usually don't get paid holidays either, again unless stated/agreed upon. That's the downside of salary pay.
  • I've researched it. It's not extremely high in sodium but like I said, it's not worth it to me to blow sodium on celery. The benefits of it on HBP are debatable, as most of those who claim it as such as are into herbal type medicines, etc.
  • Shredded mini wheats--frosted varieties. I love Cinnamon Streusal. It's just sweet enough but good for you. Fiber, no sodium, etc. Throw in some Splenda or other sweetener and it's great. My breakfast just about every day.
  • Only problem with celery--which I love--is that it's relatively high in sodium given the size. I don't eat it anymore because of that. I've got HBP, so stick under 1600 or so mgs of sodium a day and celery just "isn't worth it" for me.
  • Second on the time zone difference--pretty much anything that gets posted before about 8 or 9 EST will be lost in the newer posts flooding in once the majority of the East Coast and the West Coast folks start waking up and posting. throw in T-Day into the mix, and that's how you somehow fell through our radar. But HAPPY…
  • No, they have a BIG sign with rules posted and the first one is DO NOT POUR WATER ON TO THE ROCK HEATING SYSTEM. I was a little disappointed, as the one I had enjoyed a few years back at my college had a wooden bucket with wooden ladle you could use to pour on water, and I loved the steam! But hey, it's still a sauna!
  • The kind that doesn't use the chest band isn't going to be accurate, so ignore those numbers and go with the one you're using now. I use a Polar F6, which has the chest band.
  • You can lose up to 15 pounds or more (depending on how much you weigh to start) just in "water weight." Meaning, retained fluid, glycogen storage, etc. I think I lost like 20 pounds my first month. Good job--keep it up--but don't get depressed when it slows because it will. Just expect it and now that 1-2 pounds is a GREAT…
  • It's no problem with times you're posting but just realize that you're way ahead of most of us on here-there are some in the UK and a couple others in the India or Pakistan area, but most of us are still sleeping when you're working. Can you buy a scale for your room? Here, in the US, you can get one for about $20-$30 US…
  • If you've got your stats programmed into it, then it's given you as true a reading as you'll get. How long are your work-outs? What are you doing in them? I know that my "standard" burn is 450-600 calories an hour if I keep my HR up about 75% of max HR.
  • Tan in a spray. Haven't you seen those spray tanning booths they've got now
  • I love the sauna! My "Y" has one I use a lot. BUT, not all saunas use steam--some, like the one at my "Y" at dry heat, so check first! You can't pour water on the fake stones at my "Y", so just check first which one yours is. I go in wearing my work-out clothes--sans shoes/socks. I've never seen anyone else in there. It's…
  • First, please be patient--you're posting at 4 in the morning for us on the East Coast of USA, and 1 in the morning for the West Coast folks, so you know, most of us are in bed. You're not going to get an answer within a couple of hours at that time of night. Now, why would you weight after work-out anyway? You should ONLY…
