There are a few people that ride them for Strathpuffer usually as single speeds, seem to grip the ice well despite the lack of spikes and the low pressure adds some comfort for the 24hrs. The rigid forks are also a benefit for 24hr racing as most forks have <24hr service intervals... Which reminds me I should send mine off…

Applying the Off Road miles count double rule... erm... I don't know how much I've done on the road this year. 2971 in total. Pretty rubbish, not enough road riding

+1 on the buff, I use them while mountain biking in icky conditions to keep mud out. +1 also on Cloggsy saying they are warm! Best bug strike ever for me was running into the back of a foggy bummer (bumble bee) on a descent, right on the bottom lip That one hurt for a while...

I use Gennuine Innovations stuff. 16g cartridges in every saddle bag. I use Nanos on the MTB as well as having a pump/cart combination in the bag for when I need a bag (which means longer distance stuff) I've got some other one in the commuters bag. The Nano and the pump seem to be all or nothing, while the one I have on…

Carry 2 spare tubes in a saddle bag, and throw the burst one onto a pile of other tubes waiting to be repaired. The pile of tubes occasionally gets moved to the bin. Just make sure you clear the puncture causer from the tyre.

Hold on, that says to add drain holes, and then says to fill the frame with frame saver and plug the frame up... I never put frame saver in my steel bike when I got it, should probably do that this year.

Flashing lights on their own are problematic because it's tricky to judge speed off them, especially if the other lighting around is poor enough that you only see the light. Very few bike lights available now are BS compliant, but that shouldn't be a worry as the Police and courts appear to be understanding of the fact…

Resting was 55 last time I remembered to check first thing. Usually around 65 sitting at desk at work. Just as important is how quickly it returns to "normal" after exercise, I've seen mine drop from over 150 to 75ish in under a minute at the end of a cycle. Currently 75, jsut calming down after a day MTBing.

Even my flattest route has a couple of lung busting inclines, as Stu says, it doesn't get easier, you just get faster. On that route I have done it at jsut short of 29kmh over 27.8km http://www.sports-tracker.com/#/workout/NiallWallace/7hih72hfp2agqs2p Todays ride was a wee bit longer... A wee bit hillier... and a wee bit…

Combining a Buff set ups as a balaclava and bike glasses with clear lenses in give fairly good facial coverage.

Just checked (so not resting) 125/68 and 56bpm Use to be much scarier on a simialr spot check, maybe 140/80 and 80bpm

Interesting, as I find it's Tomatoes is where I really notice the difference. A lot of pre-packed sandwiches have terrible tomatoes on them, the Sandwich deli at work I judge based on how they look, the main thing I realise is that when it comes to it a chain sandwich store is not going to get Tomatoes that were dug from a…

If you would normally have no qualms about picking up a baguette from anywhere else, then really whats the issue? My only issue with Subway is their claim of "Eat Fresh", their vegetables are miles and miles from being fresh. OH and also it's far too easy to get a 12" meetball marinara with its 1000kcal of badness.

Food. I have withdrawl symptoms if I don't cycle (either road or MTB), put food near me and it will be eaten.

Skill wise he may be right, but in terms of fitness etc. nae chance is that right. Which is why kids football/soccer coaching is now much more about ball skills than running up the park and scoring... well everywhere in the world except for scotland and we wonder why we're rubbing at it.

* I want a bike that will last the rest of my days (I am 55, hopefully I got a lot of em left but I take NUTHIN for granted). Steel * I want a bike that can be fully loaded when need be, but still perform like a lightweight champ for all other occasions. * I want a bike I can roll out my driveway on, and ride it on…

Shrink may not be the term you want if your cycling :-p

Walked from the Car to the Office, then fgrom the Office to my bosses car, and he gave me a lift back to my car. Obviously that sounds pathetic, especially getting a lift back to my car, According to the last time I SportsTrackered by walk from the car I'm parking 1460m (about 0.9 miles) from the office. PRobably about the…

Was 433Km for my tour so 269 Miles. Not been on the bike since I got back right enough, soon fix that though.

I'm in, although if I don't make 100 miles in the first few days I've bailed out at Lochboisdale and not made it to Stornoway.

I use the Altura Classic/Crochet mitts, to go with my Retro Prendas Jerseys. There isn't that much padding in them but way better than bare hands on tape. You can also get more comfort from your tape choices, usually it's just cork tape but you get gel tape as well as various different comfort levels in cork. I remember…

You probably did do it, GPS accuracy (on phones at least) is no where near as good as a 700x23c trundle wheel

Contador winning 3 grand tours in a year under a cloud could make a good one. Wouldn't be surprised if the CAS hearing gets delayed again and he ends up doing La Vuelta too.

What tyre was on? I find the rears last around 1 to 1.5 thousand Kilometers before being square. That's been with Schwalbe Blizzards, Conti UltraSport and Conti UltraRace which are all fitness/training tyres. Have got a Conti GatorHardshell to go on the back, hoping it will last a bit longer being 20kg lighter now. First…

Yeah, I had the Oatabix a few times, found myself adding sugar to them for a bit before adjusting to the different taste. Got some Chocolate Weetabix too.

2 Weetabix with SS milk, always keeps me going longer than a large bowl of other stuff too.

Ya Hoor Sir, is very very Fife. Strangely enough guess where the Fife ports traded with; can't remember what left Fife for the Netherlands but Pantiles came back as ballast and can be seen all over the area.

183cm (6'), now 83kg (~183lbs) sedentary. for 0.5kg (1lb ish) loss a week I'm on 1800 now (480kcal defict) Started at 95kg (~210lbs) Although I seem to go down a kilo a week I am doing a decent amount of cycling a week for that.
