  • Me too. I hope this is a glitch, not a change!
  • Reading through old threads. I just read a thread from 2011 that made me realize I have to stop lying to myself about what (and how much) I'm really eating!
  • I have this, too. My husband knows I'm a food addict and is constantly feeding me. He wants me to lose weight but has this bad habit. I know I don't have to eat it but its very hard to resist. We are working on it. He's offering less food and I'm saying no more often.

  • Hello everyone. I have been a member for years but haven't been active in the message boards. I'm 75, well over 50+ with many health problems, most connected to my obesity. My highest weight was 217 in 2008. It has taken 13 years to lose 27 lbs or so, but I've never regained. I am now determined to drop an additional 50…
  • I have recently stopped eating between meals. This has been a bad habit of mine that holds me back from my losses. I'm only 1.5 weeks into this but every day I succeed is one day closer to forming a new habit. The trick for me was to learn how much to eat to hold me until my next scheduled meal.
  • I have stopped eating between meals. This has been a major problem for me for years, one that adds extra calories I don't need. Snacks CAN be beneficial for some. Some people can use snacks to hold them over til the next meal and the calories are accounted for. But that wasn't so for me. I was just eating indiscriminately.…
  • I have a Dr appointment in April and want to be below 190.
  • I mostly observe an 8 hour eating window with a 16 hour overnight fast. That's just my choice, as I find it easier to keep my calories in line, andI sleep better with an empty stomach. I grew up eating 3 meals with no snacks, and dinner was our last food for the day. I got away from that as an adult, but am working toward…
  • We finally got our first significant snowfall of the winter here in SW PA. 4 inches or so. Doggie doesn't know what to do! Carol SW PA
  • Thanks! There they are!!
  • Happy New Year, everyone. My member name says it all, well most all. I am Carol from PA. Since there is another Carol here I can go by PAC. I am 73, 74 in a couple weeks. Married. Retired. Overweight for the last 40 years, but working on it....always working on it. I hope I remember to check in here more often and get to…
  • I have black coffee and eggs every day. My 2 favorite things.
  • When I worked I got up early enough so I had time for breakfast. It was necessary for me to function until lunch. Now that I am retired i eat my breakfast (first meal) when I get hungry. Sometimes 9am, sometimes 11am. Sometimes not till noon or later. The only thing for sure, it is always eggs.
  • Years ago i controlled my weight by binging and purgeing. After I got married i could not purge for fear my husband would find out. So I just binged without purging and gained 80 lbs. After i developed a host of medical problems caused by obesity, inactivity and poor diet i started eating healthy food, only when hungry and…
  • I'm sorry. I meant to say it doesn't work "for me." I have friends and I know it does work for them. It doesn't work for me because I cant/ wont/don't want to stick to.it.
  • Hi! I am so glad to see a 50+ thread. I am way past 50. As my name says, I am Carol and live in PA. Hope to get to know all of you as I figure out how to use this forum. I see there is another Carol. You can call me PAC.
  • I am pretty much a compulsive overeater. Calorie counting doesnt work because if I want to eat something I don't care if I've already had my calorie count for the day. So mindful eating is working for me. I'm eating less because I only eat when I'm hungry and stop when I'm no longer hungry. I don't eat because the clock…
  • I didn't read the whole thread, yet but I will because i think IF has health benefits important to ME. When my DH was hospitalized for weeks last year I was not eating dinner because I didnt want to cook for 1. I ate breakfast, lunch at the hospital. Nothing again until the next morning. 15 lbs lost, blood sugar improved…
  • Hi! My name is Carol and I'm from SW PA, Steeler country! I am not new to MFP but am starting again because it syncs to my Fitbit. I will probably be reading more than posting, to get pointers.
  • Hi Everyone. I signed up for MFP way back, but have never actually used it, so I guess I'm still a newby. I am way over 50, so I guess I fit in here. I follow low carb because I have diabetes, but my main weight problem is cause by a bad habit of grazing, snacking throughout the day. I see food, and just pop it into my…
  • I got a Fitbit One and yesterday was my first day. I logged a grand total of 3.121 steps, leaving me to realize that I need to get moving! LOL Today, I forgot to put it on. I think seeing the number each day will make me push myself to be more active, trying to increase my number. Note: It doesn't work sitting on my…
  • This is not the first study to say that eating large portions of high fat protein isn't good for you. Haven't we all heard that a portion of protein should be the size of the palm of your hand? I believe in "all things in moderation."
  • Thank you for the info regarding your Dad. I have the book written my Dr Pagano who promotes this diet. I never tried it for any length of time, mainly because the foods you are to avoid seem to be the ones I like best! My remissions never seemed to have anything to do with what I was eating as my diet doesn't change much.…
  • The only thing I eat from McDonald's is breakfast occasionally. I like the breakfast sandwiches. The best one is the regular Egg McMuffin as it is the lowest in calories and fat, but my favorite is the Sausage and Egg McMuffin. I would rather go hungry than eat one of their burgers. A hamburger would be a splurge food for…
  • I know this is an old thread, but there is new information regarding psoriasis and weight. One patient who had lap band surgery said her psoriasis went away after surgery. I believe the correct word would be remission. Another doctor said that losing weight would improve psoriasis break outs. I was interested in this…
