Bananas – I don’t think I could do keto…I love my fruits and veges way too much.
As for me, I did an intercontinental trip in late October at a busy work time and I feel like it took a major toll on my energy, and made the fall complicated. Though it was pleasant and fun at the time, I surely wouldn't do it like that every year.Enjoyed a pleasant walk yesterday and I'm grateful for the nice food shops all within a moment's walk. 2 organic grocery stores, another grocery store and a frozen foods store.
Watched on Netflix over the past week : the irishman and 1st Ali Wong stand up (trashy but pretty funny when it's not too much). The Irishman was dark but I found It interesting as it must be somewhat representative of reality then even if it's fiction (so long though!) and Marriage Story and Virgin River series. The latter is very so-so in my eyes. Definitely getting sucked into online entertainment addiction (movies and late night show clips). I never even had a TV or Dvd (or previously VCR) player before age 40. Still don't have a TV but internet more than makes up for that.
my weight up I feel like I don't want to get dressed, go out... I bought "bigger" clothes in September and they are all feeling tight again. I'm still not up with this. havent been to the gym in over a week, though I did amble a bit yesterday.
Today each of my schools is having a pre-strike meeting. The meetings are small. At one people just assemble in an entrance hallway and vote to continue to strike. I don't know about the others. If they work on some specific requests they usually work to improve the conditions of those who have decent conditions and not those who have worse conditions. It looks like an agreement between the reasonably comfortable and the management to ignore the needs of those with most difficult (and even illegal) conditions.
I feel under the weather and am having a hard time getting out of bed.
No classes nor appointments today.
I usually feel better when I go out though.
I don't know if I'll strike or call in sick tomorrow.

Grateful: school vacations, weekends, mild temperatures this year, waterproof hiking sneakers, slightly tidier bathroom, wool socks, rather quiet apartment, big windows, healthy food options, fruit, frozen veggies, comfy bed, new comforter cover, dishes done, eye glasses that look ok at a reasonable price, countless cafés nearby, gym nearby...2

One of the Christmas presents from my mother ... the nail polish! That's my hand and in a couple days I may change it to alternating red and green.

Our lights outside
Machka in Oz
The lights on the tree in the foreground are solar so that we don't use power. There might be $40 worth of lights on that tree, but they are LED so they last longer and we pay no power bills to light them up. They aren't very bright, but we wanted subtle because Australians don't tend to put out a lot of really bright lights. I can see them from our lounge room window in the evening and that's nice.

luci I am a fan of pumpkin pie because it really doesn’t need much sugar at all to taste wonderful. 30 years ago I met my MIL, our first thanksgiving together—I made a pumpkin pie to bring—-it has been a “love language” between us ever since; she enjoys it very much As far as MILs go, we have a solid (not complicated or stressful) relationship!
Busy last week ahead for me as the children get more ramped up and the teachers kind of go into bunker mode, head down, push through the mayhem.

Morning, afternoon or evening all,
Am just happy to be alive today. No special reason, just grateful for the fact that I'm still here. Maybe it's just that I haven't had any form of sugar in more than four days. My body is in shock! Raining like stink outside, and supposed to continue throughout most of the day--it's a good day to stay home and work...
Pushing forward through my last week before our end-of-year break as well. Sixteen days to do what I choose... well for half of it. My husband says I have to shut up about it (jokingly), but between weekends and holidays, he's off for eight days of it!
Off to Little Rock early tomorrow for a three-hour meeting set, with a varying cast of characters each hour. I'll then use the input from those meetings to finish a $1 million grant request structured in four phases of two years each--one that must be attractive to any number of large foundations, so we can urge them all to partner with each other to fund us, while together they support two-thirds of the initiative. Not complicated at all!
Off to the races, my chickens...
Happy Monday! (Or a happy Ghost of Monday past, for those of you with it already in the books)
Love y'all,

We had a great weekend. Our neighbors Christmas Dinner was Saturday night and a good time was had by all. We have it the second Saturday of every December. Yesterday was beautiful, hubs and I went for a drive enjoying the unseasonably warm weather (nearing 80). We also trimmed the tree over our driveway so that we could drive under it without it hitting our vehicles. I drive the UTV and hubs stands in the back of it and trims and paints the cuts. I drug a lot over to a burn pile for future burning.
My glass bowls and plates arrived Friday so I need to get them set up (and the excess put up) today and put my kitchen back together. I also got my hair products that I accidentally shipped to my friends house instead of mine and need to make room for them in the bathroom. All in all a day of putting the house back together and watching Christmas movies.
Happy Monday Ladies - Have a great one!

Good morning all! Feeling kind of "fuzzy brained" today. I woke up this way yesterday, as well as with no voice. I have a cold. Blah. I don't feel congested, but there must be a bit of drainage as my voice is gone and I constantly feel I need to clear my throat. Then there is just the tired and fuzzy brain feeling. Anyway, rested yesterday (from exercise) but got two mini pre-lit trees set up in the living room (my main daycare area). Neither of them needed any decorating, which works well for me. I got the house cleaned and a couple of errands run and that is it. I pretty much sat around all day. ANyway, I hope this cold goes away; because I certainly don't want it hanging around over Christmas break.
Pip- Love the pic of Yogi The Good Boy!
Machka- Love your lights! The fact that they are solar powered makes them even nicer!
LindaPorter- I can feel the excitement of your daughter coming home! Yea! So happy for you and kudos for drinking water instead of snacking!
Cheri- I decorate with snowmen and nutcrackers. I do have a nativity that I display, on the fireplace mantle (out of reach of small hands); and my tree goes up every year. But I do not have any Santas. I try not to read any books with Santa with the exception of The Night Before Christmas.
Barbie- I turn my lights on for about a while each morning, to greet my little ones who arrive before the sun comes up. I also turn them on at dusk (about 4:30 around here) so that they can see them when they are leaving. My house is one of the only homes that is decorated on my road. Most of the folks that live on my road are retired and my guess is putting lights up outside is not a priority for them. As I get older, I understand completely where they are coming from.
Well, as I have been writing this post, my own personal little ray of sunshine (hubby, Tim; and YES I am being sarcastic) has come into the kitchen to sing his litany of woes. I have listened, like a good wife; but the listening has eaten up my time with you wonderful women! Kids arriving so I must fly! ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)8 -

The IEP process is not autistic child-friendly.
My 13-year-old grandson needs an IEP before he starts high school in a brick & mortar school in the fall.
The process requires the child to attend class in the brick & mortar middle school without an IEP in place to "see how he does first".
We have years of records showing "how he does" - I am feeling furious that the IEP process didn't take place when he was 6 or 7 instead of 13 & trying to prepare for high school.
Everyone, his teachers, counselors, doctors, parents, and yes his grandparents have failed him. Now he will have to fail again to get the IEP he needs to have a chance at succeeding in brick & mortar high school. I am enraged, but if this is the only way, I will hold it together & just be available to get him from school when he disrupts class because his teachers have no IEP guidelines.

On a more positive note, my 10-year-old granddaughter had a very successful swim meet this weekend. She continues to shave time off her 'personal bests' - we are all so proud of her!
Additionally, she & my grandson are thrilled to be sheltering 5 female kittens for Richmond Animal League. OMG they are sooooooo adorable! I'm in love with them. It's helping with the grief they are feeling over saying goodbye to their old kitty Andy recently. I'll try to get some cute kitten photos to post later.9 -

It's the start of a new week, ladies!
Kim - wow, that embroidery is gorgeous. Love those colors. No wonder you get orders stacked up. And so glad your electrician friend got the wiring fixed. Let there be light, lol. I love moving furniture around, DH doesn't like it, so things have stayed the same here for a long time. It always gave me a lift to see the same things from different angles.
Barbie - a few days ago, you mentioned someone who complained about her vacation. I had to smile - the way I was raised, a person wasn't supposed to "brag" (say something is great) because, I assumed, it might make the other person feel bad, so it was proper to interject something negative about it. But looking back, I think you were spot on.... it was often that negativity habit rearing its ugly head.
Lisa - loved those before and after photos. The one of you and Corey are a treasure. Crossing fingers that million $$ grant comes together!!
Beth - How are you doing with the hearing aids? I walked with my little neighbor a couple days ago, and asked her to switch sides because she was talking into my "bad ear" and I rarely wear my hearing aid. She's a nurse and reminded me that if I don't wear it, the nerve damage there can become worse. So I popped it in after our walk and it was much more comfortable and it seemed to do a better job than when I got it a few years ago.
Machka - your Christmas lights are beautiful. Aren't solar lights a great idea? We live on a 1/4 mile dead-end street, but the three neighbors across the street from us have marvelous displays. And I certainly appreciate them! Interesting about your sinuses! Hope the surgery goes well, if scheduled, and solves the problem.
Cheri - that snowman collection is a great idea. Thanks for sharing!
Barbara AHMOD - you are WAY ahead of me on the seed starting. And a good reminder that in a few weeks I need to think about getting some seeds popped into dirt on the heat mat. I still haven't potted up any of the crocosmia bulbs I dug out a month ago... had good intentions then we were hit with the cold snap.
Make it a super day, ladies!

I had surgery for a deviated septum and turbinate reduction. My breathing was much improved. I still remember how different it felt to have cold air moving through my right side. Good luck with yours!

Hi all!
My guests have gone home. I have had a nap.
So far calories have been heavier than usual, but not above maintenance. Phew!
The pub lunch had NO MUSIC! :drinker: Food average, so I was able to avoid the carbs and boring bits. DH really appreciated seeing his elder daughter. On the way there we narrowly avoided a serious car accident by inches - definitely not DH's fault. Stupid young men in a red sports car. Grrrrrr!
My brother and his wife arrived early so they could enjoy Hove for a bit before we got home. Lovely to see them and we caught up on all the family stuff. Then went out for pizza. I persuaded DH that half a pizza each was a good idea. We had salad with it. My brother indulged in a dessert I have always wanted to try - fried pizza strips, drizzled in chocolate, dredged with sugar, and topped with ice cream. I had about a finger's worth. Heaven! My brother is a severe type 2 diabetic.
Today he wasn't feeling too well, but was able to regulate his blood sugar. His kidneys are still playing up.
DH and I did all our exercises. I left home made croissants for our guests on the table.
Then we three went out and left DH to get on with his writing. We walked for a while and then got the bus into town. They treated me to a very late birthday lunch at Terre a Terre.
Now I'm chillaxin' on the sofa.
My DSIL is reading my memoir for the first time and just reading my brother the funny bits about him. He doesn't want to read it.
So a lovely couple of days.

Chasing soccer ball with JR still planning for Daughter visit. Has to be options for us all that’s hard finding things for everyone. Too much to consider. Still looking into menus to prices to healthy options. Should we do stuff before Daughter arrives or not? Lots to consider. We were wanting to see the Riverwalk tree loot to go to other events in the Hill country in all towns so lots to consider. Trying to have game plans too in case issues come up.Not easy task planning always falls on Us Women! Dad has to be included so got to keep in mind his dementia those days so we decided Luby’s but searching for least busy (hoping that doesn’t mean poor tasting food at that one which can explain not being busy!1

Karen... I don’t believe this is accurate per ADA or Virginia Educational Law. If a child has a documented disability, an IEP can (and should ) be generated at any time ... and certainly before he attends a brick and mortar school. There’s no such thing as a let’s see how he does... this is a cop out on the school’s part. There is no advantage in being nice, being compliant with school officials. Sadly, you do not attract more bees with honey so to speak. I learned this the hard way. I suggest seeking the counsel of an educational attorney to verify what your grandson’s rights are. Social service agencies in your area can point you to the right one.
