Since no one's mentioned this as well, calorie burn estimates are usually way off. I typically (and most on here) only eat back half my exercise calories (if you're tracking them). I understand the idea of counting calories seems tedious. I haven't for the last couple weeks and I'm still losing weight. However I was very…

Haven't seen that video. Just thought I'd suggest just using something heavy from around your house if you don't want to spend the bucks on weights. Otherwise...maybe google?

How are you calculating your exercise calories. MFP can be way off. I'm certainly no expert on this, I've just been doing a TON of reading about it because I was having the same problem. Only in this past week have I made a more concerted effort to assure my food diary is as completely accurate as it could be and I've kept…

Losing weight has nothing to do with working out. It has to do with eating fewer calories. Focus on that first, WEIGH all your food (not just measuring cups and spoons), even pre-packaged stuff....it can be off on the label by up to 20%! Make sure you're hitting those goals. If you want to keep muscle while losing weight…

I know it's hard to be patient. I have similar stats to you (not sure of you're height though). I'm 5'6" and started at 168 and now I'm at 164 and it's been about 5 weeks. I was getting frustrated too. I realized (thanks to helpful peeps on here) that I wasn't logging accurately too. I would've sworn I was because I was…

Thank you and yes it is! Another question though....Is it better to weigh foods before or after you cook them, and why?
-
Hard boiled eggs are super cheap and easy to make ahead of time and packed with protein. Also, if you have a sweet tooth, angel food cake is super packed with protein (all those egg whites) and probably one of the healthier "sweets" you can have. I also like nuts and avocado...full of the good fats.

Then what's the point of working out? Just to earn more calories to eat?
-
I've been working out like mad since the middle of march. Really only accurately logging food for the last two weeks though. Still learning.

That day was Easter and all of those entries were complete guesses and a total binge day. Pick another day. I don't use any cooking oils (only non stick cooking spray which has 0 calories). I do log condiments when I eat them. Anything else?

"Her TDEE should be in the range of 2200 calories, which she would be losing weight if she were eating anything less than that. If she were truly eating 1200-1400, she would be losing weight. Therefore she cannot be truly eating 1200-1400. " THIS IS EXACTLY WHY I'M POSTING! This day you mentioned (which is this past…

I totally agree with you and that's exactly the point I was trying to make.

I definitely misunderstood you. I believe now you meant literal kitchen cups and spoons and I didn't get that...I meant MEASURING cups and MEASURING spoons. I have been weighing/measuring everything for the last couple weeks using MEASURING cups and spoons, NOT just regular spoons/cups. I have a food scale (although it…

I am not REFUSING to take advise from people. My point is that I HAVE been weighing my food and measuring it to the best of MY ability. The biggest "take away" from this for me is the 20% difference in variance on the nutrition labels. That I did NOT know. And NO it's not possible to be "as accurate as you can" according…

Planning on it...just curious before my appt.

This just sounds ridiculous. Seriously...as I said before there is NO way to be completely accurate in your logging. Especially taking into consideration all your "nitpicking" above. This is why I said I only eat back HALF of my exercise calories. To alot for mis-measurements and overcalculations on burns. I mean according…

Well I wasn't aware of the 20% difference allowed in the nutrition facts. So that's news to me. Not sure if that's enough to have made a huge difference in my overall diet though. Early April I wasn't tracking proper weight/measurements. I have been for the last two weeks though. I seriously think it's a thyroid issue.…

I'm not sure why weighing vs. measuring would make a difference as long as I'm logging it with the correct method used. So if I measure it with a measuring cup I should log that it was measured that way...which is what I'm doing. The two eggs from today are logged by their size (large eggs). Clementines are again all…

You said the same thing I did. I'd only net 400 calories UNLESS I ate back those exercise calories which would put me back up very close to or at 1200.
-
Then you weren't looking at my diary. With the exception of Easter, I've been pretty religious about weighing everything (except prepackaged stuff that's already weighed).
-
But what if my BMR is 1400 and I plug in to lose two lbs a week...that would take my caloric goal to 400 and if I exercise I can add in those calories...so if I really bust my butt and burn between 700-800 calories a day that would still keep me netting around 1200 though right? Is it dangerous to do it that way?
-
Ah, ok...so this makes sense then! Still can't figure out why I'm not losing anything though. I've got to set up a dr appt. though....I think I may have a thyroid issue!
-
So you're saying if you put in a 2lb. weight loss it will automatically put you at a 1200 calorie limit? I did put in 2 lbs. but you would think it would still calculate it accurately.
-
Thanks so much for this advice!
-
The other key is to also make sure you're measuring correctly. I know I thought I was and then did a quick google search and found I actually wasn't, I was measuring up a little too high for my "hips" and a little too high for my "thighs".
-
I have another question for you....how do you measure, do you pull as tight as you can or just taut?
-
That's definitely a hard one because sz 14 is in women's and size 9 is in juniors. Juniors clothes are cut completely different than womens. Much more narrow through the waist/hips/thighs. I would opt for shooting for a sz. 8 in women's...this is dropping 3 sizes and would probably be 30 lbs or so. Just guessing on the lbs…

I work out 5-6 days a week for at least 30 minutes a day (usually closer to an hour on average). I'm 5'6". I don't use a HRM (wish I had one though) so I try to only eat back half my calories. My routines are high intensity cardio though too. I usually do Jillian Michael's RI30 and another kickboxing class.

There's also been reports of girls who keep their cell phones in their bras getting breast cancer. Google it.

I had the same issue. You have to make sure all of your profile information on both WEBSITES is the same, height weight, goals etc. Then FUTURE inputted workouts will sync. You can always do a "mock" workout to test to see if it works. Once I updated everything on both websites, it works fine for me.
