  • Wow! Amazing and congrats to you.... Very proud of you...
  • It's up to you. The more you exercise and the less you eat = the more you will lose. If you want to lose weight bad enough you will. This is more of a life decision than phase. If you are coming here for a quick fix then you will probably be on a see saw with your weight. One of the things I have learned to do is not to…
  • Here is my suggestion... Walk for at least 1 hour a day and eat less than 1500 calories a day. IF you are unsure the caloric content of something, don't eat it. IE, do not eat out. Within a month you will have lost a significant amount of weight, you will be walking faster and further in your 1 hour walks and you will feel…
  • Hi.... Be creative... You don't have to go nuts and eat things out of your comfort zone. If you like bacon and eggs, eat bacon and eggs but do it a different way. Maybe use 1 egg and substitute in egg whites. Or go all egg whites or egg beaters. I found microwave bacon at Sam's club that is 70 calories for 4 slices. Its…
  • I think you will be fine. What happens to me in these situations is I get hungry later and either cave or fight it til the next day. I have my best success when I just steer clear away from these treats that setbacks waiting to happen. Then again, its one day. Live a little.
  • Don't be discouraged... There are a lot of factors at play here. What are you eating? Do you take in a lot of sodium? Sodium causes you to retain water causing you to weight more. In all honesty, 3 lbs is pretty good in a week. Keep with it. It will come off.
  • I'm 5 miles west of NYC in the New Jersey Meadowlands... Its 23* right now, feels like 13* and..... wait for it.... it's SNOWING... ugh.
  • Diet Soda. Honestly, I am not sure I would have been able to lose all the weight I did without it. I would drink at least 4 x 20oz bottles of diet coke a day. That said, I gave it up this year along with artificial sweeteners. Plan on switching to diet for your weight loss or considering moving over to water now. You'll…
  • MapMyWalk - iPhone app tracks how much you walk, how long you walk and how many calories you burn when walking... It's free... I recommend setting up an account online and entering all of your height, weight, gender info so the calorie tracker is closer to being accurate... Good Luck!
  • Couple of questions... Does your exercise bike know how much you weigh, how tall you are, if you are a female and accurately gauge your heart rate? If not, it's not accurate. If you can type that stuff in your bike and it has a good heart rate monitor you could get much better numbers. Hope this helps! Mark
  • Hey Beth... Welcome to the new you... Add us as friends and look at our diaries for help on what to eat and what not to eat... For me look back a month or so for what to eat and look at December for what NOT to eat... lol.. Whatever anyone on this site tells you, remember this... It's all about calorie deficit. If you eat…
  • I stopped drinking 19 months ago and feel great.. I highly recommend it. I stopped because it was unhealthy and I found myself binge drinking instead of having the occasional beer out with friends. I don't miss it and I feel great. Best of all I'm not drinking any calories.... Good luck! Mark
  • I was one of these husbands you all rant about and the truth of the matter is we aren't going to change unless we really want to. I decided to stop my insanity and reached my goal weight of 180lbs in around 5 months. Lost over 80lbs in the process. I bounce between 185 - 193 lbs now... Honestly, I was inspired a lot by the…
  • Great work... and congrats! Keep going. I bet you feel great already... Keep up the great work!
  • Where there's a will.... there's a way. Mark
  • Then walk... Walk at a brisk pace between 4 and 4.5 mphs and you will burn plenty of calories. Do it for at least an hour. Keep moving.
  • Hi Susie... Obviously MFPs calculation on house work is a little off. Here's the deal. You should stick to 1300 calories and do not eat any additional exercise calories you gain. See where that takes you.
  • A few things to think about.... Going from eating way too much to eating at a calorie deficit is hard and there is pain involved. The first few weeks of food withdrawal are tough. Fight through it. Use 100 calorie snacks or something like cheerios to help you through. Once you are through that period of withdrawal you will…
  • I follow MFP generally but I am pretty good at knowing what my body's requirements are and what it takes for me to lose. My sweetspot for losing is 1000-1400 calories. Anything less than that and I am over hungry and likely to binge on ice cream, anything over that I see very little results unless I team it up with high…
  • Wow! Awesome job! I have the same addiction to ice cream you do. Mine is oreo ice cream... Yum. I bounce between 180 and 190 now, when I get up over 190 I stop eating it until I am back down to 180 then repeat. hahahah Great job, you look awesome! Mark
  • Well done! You look amazing, good for you! Mark
  • What are you trying to accomplish? Are you trying to lose weight? If you are trying to lose weight then scrap the Fitbit "plan". All you need to do is take in less calories than you are burning and you will lose weight. Add exercise and don't eat back the calories you burn through exercise and you will lose weight that…
  • Because you will lose more, faster as it will put you into a greater deficit. It also helps kickstart your metabolism as you will have extra energy and you begin to feel better carrying around less weight. Mark
  • Awesome! Congrats and well done!
  • Stop feeling sorry for yourself. The only way you will lose the weight is to put yourself first for the small part of your day to get your body active again. Go out an walk for an hour everyday, walk faster each day. Also, stop eating as much as you do, research low cal alternatives. Everyone on here has been in your…
  • When I was working hard to lose my weight I wouldn't eat them and I would stay under my allowable calories a day. Using that method helped me lose 80lbs in 5 months. On maintenance now and I do whatever I want.... When I gain a few pounds I will exercise and carefully watch my calories until I get back down and then…
  • Awesome and good for you! Well done!
  • Here's the deal.... The less calories over time your body takes in the less calories your body will require and the less calories it will burn. You cannot just keep losing and losing at the same rate. Eventually you will slow down. The trick is to keep your inner-motor running and burning up those calories you are taking…
