  • technique...definitely. You can seriously injure yourself with kettlebells - or any weight for that matter - when your technique and form is off. The goal is to do what you can IN GOOD FORM ... -
  • seriously...
  • some people find regimented eating is what they need to get them on or keep them on their journey. This has never worked for me...I believe in moderation not deprivation. Of course there are things to stay away from or severely limit when we're trying to lose, but I don't go for any of the so-called diets that say you…
  • I had the same problem and for me it was food...if I ate within three hours, it was coming up. I'm an early morning exerciser so I solved the problem by getting up, having a quick cup of coffee and hitting the weights. No problems since :) Might just be your body talking...
  • And it may simply be psychological....I was always hungry at nite too as that was when I snacked...but I wasn't really hungry - just breaking a habit. I find a big cup of herbal tea did (and still does) the trick
  • I hate running - never do it....other than jogging on the spot. I think they key to weight loss is the stick with whatever you choose to do. If it's the eliptical (which I have and use) or if its group cardio, etc. etc. I have lost and maintained a 40lb weight loss, and I am now working on the last 20 - none of it done…
  • I love bodyshred but having said that I'm a huge fan of Jillian - I have all her DVDs. I did the 21 day fix and enjoyed that too but I really like JM's 3-2-1 program - works me out hardcore :) There is a bit of balancing, but i'm only on the 1st three dvd's. I found 21day got way too repetitive and lost interest after the…
  • I like to eat it plain - sour puss here :) I have also added fruit to mine. but I prefer to add vegetables. I add english cucumbers and sweet peppers - more of a veggie fan than fruit.
  • Today was my start day for this program - I've got all her DVD's and have been cycling through them for the last year or so. The only thing I have to modify are the pushups - I do them from my knees - due to a chronic shoulder injury, they hurt when I do them from my toes, but hopefully that will all change. I'm looking…
  • its called contact dermatitis and you're right - it's skin on skin chaffing. Keep it dry, you can use a medicated powder like the poster above states, but be careful - I couldn't, it made it worse, most likely the additives. A baby powder with minimal scents, additives etc. is also good. you find chemical-free powders at…
  • 4 lbs could be ANYTHING - did yo u have a high sodium meal? Water Retention? TOM? Don't fret about 4 lbs - I can weigh myself in the morning, and weigh 6 lbs more in the later afternoon depending on my water intake, my salt intake, the time of the month.... Keep moving, eat clean, and the rest will take care of itself.
  • X-ray technician
  • I never used to eat before a work out - think of the "Body for Life" program that was so popular many years ago. But lately I have been feeling not quite 100%, and I have read many articles that are pro and anti-eating pre-workout, and so far, the pro-eating has made more sense to me. My routine is up at 4:45, have a…
  • set an alarm on your computer or phone or what have you. I set mine for an hour and every hour I make a trip around the office, up and down the stairs, and around through the shop. It's not far but it's movement.
  • Pancakes on Sunday morning. It was the only time my dad cooked - religiously every Sunday morning he made from-scratch pancakes, and you never knew what new recipe he would try next. Still makes me smile when I smell pancakes.
  • Can't spot reduce - especially abs - they are 75% made in the kitchen. Eat clean and move :)
  • changed your workout routine at all? How's your water consumption? Are you eating "enough"? I know where you're at - I'm was in the same boat a month ago. I added 200 cals, another liter of water, and an extra 20mins of cardio a day to my diet and I started to lose again
  • i prefer really thinned soled shoes - I primarily do HIIT. As a former cardio-kcikboxing instructor, I am used to being barefoot - I taught in a judo academy, so we worked on the mats. I can't stand thick soles - doesn't allow you to use your toes right for balance moves. Just my preference - I am a believer in working out…
  • What everyone else says ^^ I start with a lukewarm shower and end with a 10-15 second blast of really cold water just before I get out. - helps cool body core temp down faster :) and as an added bonus, for those of you with long locks, the blast of cold closes the hair cuticles and makes your hair shine :)
  • mini cucumbers!
  • OP - it's kinda weird but works for me. When I have a sugary craving, I eat something sour. I was once told to eat a pickle when I wanted sweet and lo' n' behold it works :) Just move past the nay-sayers, everyone has an opinion, so take what you can use and garbage the rest :)
  • I have the Piyo system - its definately good for some strength and stretching improvements, but I found that I was missing the sweat and grind of a good HIIT program. I use it as my evening practice for stretch and relaxing, and do a hardcore HIIT in the mornings
  • Setting enough time aside from a busy work life and family life, to make sure I get LOTS of sleep, and have at least 30 minutes a day of JUST me-time to de-stress and unwind so I am not a victim of emotional eating. :)
  • The problem, IMHO, with doctors these days is that they get absolutely NO training in nutrition, hence the dangerous recommendation to eat VLCD. As the kid of one of those said dr's I have this argument with him continuously. Having said that, OP, you know your body best. If you are light headed, fatigued, not feeling well,…
  • I agree with Sparklefrogz - my personal response to people when they make unwelcome comments is "Thank you for your concern". Case in point, i was given a shirt as a gift that was a size Large, and I'm currently in a small/medium. My dear hubby (tongue in cheek) laughed and said "Don't worry you'll grow into it". He's…
  • Just for clarification, in case you didn't know... When MFP sets your calories, it is already set at the deficit you require to lose the amount of weight per week you indicated you wanted to. When you exercise, this burns even greater calories, so you run the risk of not eating ENOUGH. Most people only eat back half of…
