Sugar-Free Diet

I am starting a sugar-free diet, which sucks because I LOVE sugar. Anything sweet. Now I do a lot of baking so often my sugary treats were home-made from scratch. But that didn't seem to matter too much to my weight scale
The diet plan I have started is natural sugars only, sugar naturally in fresh fruits and veggies only. Along with that I can eat chicken fish and eggs for protein, but no sugary sauces and such.
I am on Day 1, and the sugar cravings are already driving me crazy. I am avoiding the pantry at all costs so I am not tempted.
Has anyone else tried this? Any recipe recommendations for meals? I am hypoglycemic so I need to have proteins, I cant just live off of fruit 24/7 or I get sick (which sucks because I love fruit so I would totally do that if I could)
Any tips would be great.

You really, really should pay your doctor a visit and get a good idea of what type of diet you should be eating.
A yearly physical is good advice for us all and everyone should see a doctor before beginning their weight loss journey.
I think you're on the right path by cutting out sugary treats, but your doctor would be able to advise you best on how to go about this in a healthy way that is right for you.
(The cravings get easier over time. At first, you'll have a spoiled-child reaction to not getting what you want. But, just like a spoiled child, it will get easier when you're accustomed to discipline. )0 -

I suggest a diet based on adequate nutrient intake and moderation. Unless directed by your doctor due to health reasons I see no reason to completely restrict any foods.0 -

My dad is a doctor and I have plenty of doctor friends so I dont need the "see your doctor first" speech I was just looking for recipes and suggestions from people who had done this before.

Should also mention that's there's zero difference in the way your body recognizes and processes natural vs added sugars.0 -
OP - it's kinda weird but works for me. When I have a sugary craving, I eat something sour. I was once told to eat a pickle when I wanted sweet and lo' n' behold it works

If I had thought in the beginning that I had to give up all sugar I probably would have give up ages ago. Thankfully I found a group of friends who subscribe to the philosophy of eating enough fat, protein, and veggies, and leaving a little room for the sweet stuff. It works wonders for me and looking forward to that treat at the end of the day keeps me on track.0 -
I stopped binge-eating when I went sugar-free on 1/1/14. Then I got hit by a car on 5/3/14 after not binging all year and used binging to get me through it and went sugar-free to stop binging again. Going sugar-free for a handful again resets me into non-binging mode. I also lost weight like crazy, it melted right off effortlessly (I'm currently not SF).0

Doctors tend to tell people to cut out sugar because it's an easy way to cut calories without tracking. But if you're already tracking it's not really necessary.0 -

But a year physical IS a good idea. Monitoring, preventing and catching things early is much cheaper in the long run than avoiding medical care until you are very ill.0 -

A yearly physical is good advice for us all and everyone should see a doctor before beginning their weight loss journey.
I think you're on the right path by cutting out sugary treats, but your doctor would be able to advise you best on how to go about this in a healthy way that is right for you.
(The cravings get easier over time. At first, you'll have a spoiled-child reaction to not getting what you want. But, just like a spoiled child, it will get easier when you're accustomed to discipline. )

I am starting a sugar-free diet, which sucks because I LOVE sugar. Anything sweet. Now I do a lot of baking so often my sugary treats were home-made from scratch. But that didn't seem to matter too much to my weight scale
The diet plan I have started is natural sugars only, sugar naturally in fresh fruits and veggies only. Along with that I can eat chicken fish and eggs for protein, but no sugary sauces and such.
I am on Day 1, and the sugar cravings are already driving me crazy. I am avoiding the pantry at all costs so I am not tempted.
Has anyone else tried this? Any recipe recommendations for meals? I am hypoglycemic so I need to have proteins, I cant just live off of fruit 24/7 or I get sick (which sucks because I love fruit so I would totally do that if I could)
Any tips would be great.
