  • Hi Leo, I don't know what exactly happened here. Whoever poo--poo is, somehow he/she took it upon themselves to delete the group, or thought so anyway. Perhaps that discouraged many from pursuing the community effort based on the shared connection through aviation. Anyway, I am still not where I'd like to be on the scale…
  • Yeah, fruit. Fruit! We're coming to that part of the year where the produce department at the market is a minefield. Apricots, strawberries, coming soon will be the cherries, blueberries, plums, peaches. Such beauties and so hard to resist. Fortunately, thanks to corporate farming and other attendant influences, fruit…
  • I wonder what BackwoodsMom's husband did when he laid eyes on the equation. Was that the grinding of the pencil sharpener readying his tools for the challenge?? :D) He'll win the Fields Medal if he can crack the code and make sense of what is going on here. Let's hope !
  • Bumping this for new ideas. thx chris.
  • Oh, that was interesting. Hoping there will be follow-up articles on this.
  • The trick is to only "eat Korean". If you take a look around, those who are in the habit of eating western food, ie. pizza, burgers, chips etc. are the folks who are putting on weight. There are so many kids at school who are beyond chubby. I know from experience that they are in for a long hard battle as adults if they…
  • Congratulations on that wonderful accomplishment! Getting rid of unwanted weight is no easy feat. If things got in the way of it being a permanent disappearance, there is no reason that you can't set that goal again and reach it. Your fellow aviators will be here to cheer you on. Go for it.

  • Three cheers for Rock Star Mothers! :flowerforyou: :smooched:
  • I'd be interested in that recipe! Do tell us! Thanks.
  • What a huge resource - thanks for doing the treasure hunting!
  • Thanks, mpol, for the signpost to that thread on VLCD.
  • This was brilliant. Just wish I'd read it a week ago. I went to my nephew's wedding last week. I successfully managed to avoid the 3 different photographers they had circulating. Until the one with the video camera caught me introducing myself to the bride's mother. Red Alert!! I waved at him to stop, which he did. Nice…
  • Wow, robynlynn, that makes me want to go out and BUY a waffleiron! As if they sell them anymore, hahahhha. Thanks for playing mad scientist for us. It's wonderful when the experiment works.
  • Polar FT4 works fine in the pool. Do follow the instructions regarding not pushing buttons and you should be fine. It is a good check on the calorie burns recorded by MFP and other sites which may be averages of some unknown model. This will be the data on the one and only you! Can't do better than that. Go for it!
  • Thanks, bookyeti, for the quantifications. It's hard to aim for a target that has no definition. This helps a lot.
  • Hi Monique, School lunches are a good way to go for me. The portions are controlled by the servers, so I won't go overboard because of my eyes being too big. I only eat half of the rice. For a long time I felt guilty about leaving food behind. Recently, they started offering half-full bowls of rice, so I don't have that…
  • Once you've got your stroke technique a bit more refined (via video or live instructor) the next hurdle may be persistance. It can become rather tedious to just swim 1km without stopping, and then ??? If you want to give yourself more variety, and thereby increase the likelihood that you will keep heading for the pool…
  • You are doing so well. I am impressed with your results. :flowerforyou: A steady pace finishes the race. I know you are going to succeed.
  • Don't worry. . .about May 10th or so the heat will switch on and then there will be no escaping it until September! How's it going down there? You've got a pretty nice environment for getting out and exercising. It is hard to stay motivated in the city. Who wants to go out walking when all there is to look at is buildings,…
  • Need to bump this for deeper scrutiny at a later time...
  • My all time favorite tuna-disguiser : capers! Second place winner: chopped olives. Third place: skip the tuna, eat the olives and the capers.
  • Nice Nice Nice :flowerforyou:
  • Wow, that brings back the memories. My brother and I tried this when we were in middle school. We did pretty well until just near then end. And the next day, well that was another story althogether! I was so sore that I could hardly walk. To top it off, Monday was PE day at school and I could not participate in the class.…
  • Congratulations on your sustained success. How great you must feel right now! I like your lists. I'm looking forward to joining you on the lighter side of the Obese/Overweight divide. Can't wait for that - just 4 more pounds to go. And then, of course, on to the Normal territory. :D)
  • There is a discussion group called Michigan MFPers that might be of interest to you. It's been going for quite some time, and as some of the posts have revealed, they meet up offline as well at fitness events. Support from both angles - a great deal, isn't it?
  • Strong, beautiful ladies. What could be better? Being there myself!! Just wait for me . . .
  • Rutabaga is good boiled then mashed like potatoes and sprinkled with a bit of nutmeg. Or cubed and roasted in the oven for 30-ish minutes and sprinkled with herbs. Or steamed cubes added to couscous for a nice salad. Or mashed and topped with sauteed onions. Go for it.
  • Yeah, Carolina said it > Your face looks radiant! If you're not quite sure that progress is noticeable, focus on your face in the photographs and you are sure to notice what all of us can see : Fabulous Progress! Keep up the good work. You are doing more than just helping yourself to a healthier life. You are helping the…
  • Hah! If you believe that . . .
