  • I started gaining weight rapidly after taking depo-testosterone injections even though it made me not be hungry ever and caused insomnia and nerve compression. I have told my doctor that I most likely will decline further treatment.
  • I do have a scale and am weighing. I plan to post pictures of what I am eating with the scale readout though I doubt that will change anyone's mind. It appears everyone is looking at the end result and inductively reasoning that the only possible explanation is my logging. There are other possibilities.
  • Thanks for the responses. Stats: 6ft, 280 lbs, 29 years old. What other lifestyle information is needed? I have not really eaten excessively more than three times in six months. I increased my intake slightly so that I don't drop the weight bar on my face or fall asleep driving. My doctor says something bizarre is going…
  • I buy it. OP's TDEE should be around 2400 + exercise. Even if he is grossly underestimating, there should still be some loss. I consumed fewer than 2000 calories per day with net calories even lower (about 1500 or so) this month and gained 11 pounds. Maybe OP should talk to a doctor to see if a low calorie diet (e.g. 1200…
  • 6 months with about 2 pounds lost here. I'm certainly in vastly better shape than I was when I started though. It's discouraging, but short of starving and doing unsafe things, it's life.
  • Even if the studio is paying the bill, the doctor has a legal duty to provide you with competent medical advice. If you feel the doctor is deviating from providing competent advice, you can report him/her to the state medical board. They usually take this seriously because a reprimand on the doctor's license will usually…
  • Thanks. I plan to stick with this plan for the foreseeable future. It is helpful to know that I cannot burn through the 5000 calories a day the Scooby calculator says I can (which I think is an absurd number for anyone).
  • I actually feel really good. I feel best at 1500-1700 calories a day. Anything over 2000, especially without exercise, makes me feel bloated and lethargic. I feel rather hungry as mealtime approaches, but who doesn't?
  • "On the bright side, if your RMR is that low, your grocery bill can be lower too." Very true!
  • Who knows? I guess if it works for you and you don't suffer any negative side effects. I'm a 6ft 280 lb male and I start gaining in 1200-1500 range. I am on a break from trying to lose for a while. I have been eating 2000 calories per day and set to regain months of weight loss in less than two weeks.
  • I also recently found out I had a Vitamin D deficiency as well. The CDC estimates 1/3 of Americans have a vitamin D deficiency. I have/had multiple risk factors such as obesity, fatty liver disease, and GI tract disorders, so it would be difficult to pinpoint the cause. My father supposedly had rickets that caused…
  • Ok...you caught me...I just can't help myself when it comes to worms. I do feel terrible.
  • Worms? It's high fiber cereal (I have IBS and diverticulitis). I'll give my doctor a call if he's open tomorrow and set up some blood work and then go in when the results come back.
  • I don't think anyone got the joke https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DmfepbuMEyw
  • That sneaky, sneaky soy sauce.
  • I am at a loss here...how is what I have presented above even remotely near maintenance or overeating?
  • Well, here is everything I ate today. I moved the carrots to dinner because I didn't get to them earlier. Plus there will be another bowl of cereal tonight. I think my log is a pretty darned good representation of this. I can post pictures of the scale display with the food on it if necessary.
  • Don't people with hypothyroidism usually have high TSH levels (and low T4) unless the hypothyroidism is caused by pituitary failure (which would probably cause severe symptoms)?
  • Because many are in disbelief that I eat so little and am not losing. It will not change anything.
  • Hopefully you will be able to see exactly what I eat. I plan to post pictures of everything I'm eating for the next couple of days. I log all my snacks and don't drink any beverages that contain any calories. I usually do feel hungry and irritable, otherwise, I won't lose anything.
  • I know a lot of people are skeptical of what I eat, so I will go ahead and post pictures of everything I am eating for a couple days. As far as avocados and bananas go, there the 1/5 is just what 1oz calculates to be, and for bananas, they are usually either pre-cut and frozen cut in half and refrigerator for later use.…
  • It doesn't look like they specify the United States Military...could be the North Korean Military Diet.
  • Deep fry them like Elvis...
  • With visible neck muscles and collar bone, you can't be that overweight. Under 1200 is probably too aggressive unless you are under 5 feet or something like that. 1300 maintenance is something like 5 feet tall, 85 pounds, and sedentary.
  • I think my logging has been decent the last few days though my calorie intake has been very low. I will sit with this for a couple of weeks and see what happens. I will adjust upward if necessary. I think the strict 1200-1500 calories a day for the time being will help to lose some weight because it is the minimum I have…
  • I will probably try to limit my calories to around 1500 for a couple of weeks and see what happens before I go to the supervised diet. I've tried a few days at around 1000 or fewer calories, and while my weight is going down, it is difficult to do much. I was virtually unable to move the weights I usually can throw around…
