Did I Gain 10 Pounds of Fat in One Month?
Is it possible to have gained 10 pounds of fat in less than 30 days? This is not a day to day fluctuation, but an upward trend. That would mean I would have to had at least a 1000 calorie surplus per day everyday (more than 4000 calories a day). I have increased my exercise significantly as well. Could some of it be…

Weight loss/blood work update
I just wanted to update on my current situation. I have had great difficulty losing and sustaining any loss for matter for the past several months. I have lost virtually no weight in almost six months. I completed some additional blood work in the past couple of weeks since my doctor suspected some type of hypothyroidism…

More Problems Losing
Unfortunately, my weight is zig-zagging again (not necessarily again as it has been going on for months). It may go down for a few days, but then goes back up. I am weighing/measuring everything as best I can and am unable to see any consistent weight loss even at less than1500 calories a day (MFP purports that this gives…

Lose 20 Pounds in One Month
I've just finished my fall classes and have 28 days until spring semester starts in January. I hope to put a real dent in my weight loss over the next month since I can dedicate much more time than usual and won't need to have as much energy as usual. I hope to lose 20 pounds during this time. That will bring me to about…

Medically Supervised Diet
While I know many here will not be supportive of my plan to go a medically-supervised diet in order to lose weight. I have not been able to lose any more than two pounds in the last month, which is troubling to me. I have been weighing and measuring my food using the scale I bought on Amazon for almost the last month and…

Peanut Butter Question
I usually stay away from conventional peanut butter that contain trans fatty acids in favor of natural stir peanut butters that contain only peanuts. I do get annoyed by how quickly they become hard and dry. I've noticed some newer "natural" peanut butters that contain only peanuts and palm oil, which is semi-solid at room…

Haven't Lost Any Weight in over 2 Months
I am getting discouraged because I haven't lost any weight in over two months. I weighed 283 pounds when I joined on 9/02/14 and weighed that much today with a couple of pounds either way. I should be losing 1.5-2 lbs a week. With about 9 weeks, I should have lost between 13.5 and 18 lbs making my total weight 269.5 to 265…

Skipping Meals to Stay Within Calorie Goal
What should you do if you've already reached your daily calorie intake by the afternoon? Is it advisable to go significantly over your goal or to skip eating dinner even if you are hungry? If I were already hungry by around 6pm, I would find it hard to go 16 or more hours without eating until breakfast the next day, but I…

Coconut Cream
I bought a couple of cans of coconut cream at Trader Joe's a few days ago for $1.49 each (haven't seen them anywhere before). I refrigerated it and it is the consistency of ice cream. I have been putting it in smoothies and having good results. I am not a fan of strong coconut flavors, but it is more creamy and nutty than…

Eggs v. Egg Whites
Is it a better idea to eat egg whites (from the pourable carton) than regular eggs containing yolk? Even considering the cholesterol content (1 egg is 65% of daily recommended dose of cholesterol while whites are 0%). Are you missing out on much by not eating the yolk presuming it is within your calorie limits?

Calorie-Reducing Foods?
I have heard that there are foods that require a large amount of energy to assimilate into the body. For example, if you ate 100g of fat, only 75g would actually be assimilated. If you ate 100 calories of celery, only 50, etc. Is this true or just "broscience?"

Stuck
I've been stuck in the high 270s-low 280s for the past 30 days. After losing 15 pounds down from 300 pretty quickly, I have been stuck at this weight for over a month now. I realize a lot of this could be water retention because I have IBS and a slew of other digestive maladies that can cause retention. However, I should…

Protein Sources
I was wondering what suggestions you might have for reaching my 124g of protein per day goal. What foods are high in protein, but lower in calories as to not exceed my calorie limitation?

Weight Loss Muscle Gain?
I maintain at least a 1,000 calorie deficit every day and had initially lost 23 pounds to put me at 277 pounds. I am 6 feet tall and 28 years old. I began lifting weights again about a month ago (I used to lift regularly up until a couple of years ago). I gained about 7 pounds over the past few weeks while my waist and…

Glycogen Stores
Is it necessary to have glycogen stores constantly depleted in order for the body to burn fat? Is it more effective to maintain some glycogen since it is a preferred bodily fuel over fat?

Snacks for Weight Loss
Does snacking on healthy foods between meals (assuming you are within your recommended calories) promote more weight loss over not snacking and simply foregoing those calories? I ask because I usually don't eat snacks.

Too Few Calories/Not Eating Enough
Over the past week, my calorie intake has unintentionally plummeted. I am 6 feet tall and now weigh 280 lbs. with a muscular build (though it happens to be masked by large quantities of fat). I weighed more than 300 when I started about three-four weeks ago. For the past week or so I have only managed to consume 600-900…

Getting Started
I suppose I should go ahead and introduce myself. Over the past six months, my weight peaked to 300 lbs (6ft tall). While my abilities to conduct my day to day activities have not been compromised, I had a bad bout of irritable bowel syndrome lasting several months (I've had IBS since birth and is incurable, but I believe…
