  • When I was doing it I counted it as pilates. My heart rate never got that high and I figured the burn was similar.

  • It looked like it was mostly a 20 minute body weight circuit, so I'd log that. Go to exercise, add cardiovascular and choose circuit training general. Keep in mind that different bodies burn different amounts of calories, but doing what she was doing I wouldn't come close to burning in 300 calories. Maybe 200 if I really…
  • Congratulations! What you eat may kind of take care of itself. Both of my pregnancies came with a lot of morning (anytime) sickness. So I lost weight in the 1st trimester of both because the list of foods that appealed to me was pretty small. I know later in the pregnancy they say you need only an extra 300 calories a day,…

  • I'm 5'7" and 160 lbs and when I was doing the 20 min. PiYo my burn was definitely much lower than some of my other more intense workouts. When I'm going all out I usually get close to 100 calories/ 10 min. PiYo was not that intense so I'd give myself about half of that. I generally just used MFPs settings and would log it…
  • I do the same thing. I may not eat back any calories, but if I'm doing something that is well above and beyond my normal activity level I log it. For me this means raking for a long time, digging, hauling cement blocks and dirt bags. Activity that is above and beyond puttering around and planting a few things.

  • Thanks to whoever suggested progress pics. I have so many from right around this weight from the last few years it is ridiculous. But I took some more a month ago and even though the scale hasn't really changed, and I've only lost a quarter of an inch in measurements I do actually looked more toned and tighter. And thank…
  • Mine stay firm longer than that and I treat them the same way you do. I do make a point of looking for ones that aren't close to squishy when I buy them. Maybe you got a bag of some that had already hit their peak?
  • @cosmichvoyager Congratulations! That's great. I got a scale and this morning I'm at 159.8 - which is up .2 from where I started. :-P But I've been pretty careful about what I've been eating and have been really active so I'm hoping to see some positive changes when I take some pictures and new measurements. Even…
  • My scale is broken - awesomely it said I was up 40 lbs the other day. Now that amount I can laugh off. I bought new batteries and it's still way off. So I'll be weighing in again sometime this weekend when I get a new one. And this one I think I'll hide in my bedroom so my kids can't weigh themselves all day long…

  • I'm close to your height and weight and age and to lose a pound a week MFP says to eat 1300 calories with me being at a sedentary activity level. I try to come close to that - if I've put in a good work out I'll have a few hundred more. Something that helps me is to drink a lot of water (and it makes my skin look nice). I…
  • I'm still logging too. And my back is feeling better so I'm adding exercising back in.
  • My little sister is doing it now and seems to like it. I opted not to do it with her because the workouts were fairly similar to Jillian Michaels Body Revolution, which I was already going through again. My sister doesn't like workout DVDs and just wanted to get in better shape for the summer. Over the summer her job gets…
  • I hurt my back last weekend and with all the muscle relaxers and pain pills my body is definitely "off." So I'm hanging steady at 160...a pound up from my starting weight. Doh! But I've been really good at staying under 1400 calories this week and I should be able to get back to some light exercise next week. So I'm really…
  • Thanks...I think part of my problem is I've been using a fitbit and trusting in some of the calories they give me. I just need to eat less. When I was losing before I was eating half the exercise calories back (and sometimes I'd all of them if I was having a really hungry day). I've been eating them all back lately because…
  • I've been pretty frustrated with my weight. It keeps shifting up and down a good 3 pounds, which I know is normal and also due to sodium or water weight from sore muscles but I feel like it's been "shiftier" than usual. I've been very consistent with exercising, so I think I really need to double down on my diet. Usually…
  • You can also try Jillian Michaels Ripped in 30. She had A LOT of core work in there and it really helped me tighten up my waist and strengthen my core after the kids. Pilates is great too - though its not really calorie torcher.
  • I am a Jillian Michaels fan and really enjoyed her Body Revolution. I tried T25 and I didn't enjoy it. For me it was too bouncy and repetitive. I want to try JM Body Shred. So maybe if you already know you like JM stick with her. Every time I stray to another program I end up coming back to her.
  • That is so rude. I'm sorry you have to socialize with such a miserable person. After I picked my jaw off the floor I would have said something about how exercise makes me feel good mentally and physically. It makes me happy, and my going to the gym really isn't any of her business.
  • I make drinking shrubs which is basically a fruit simple syrup mixed with apple cider vinegar. I drink them because I like how it tastes. I love how tangy it is, and when I put a tablespoon or so in my big water bottle I drink twice as much. I really have to make myself drink water so this works for me. My recipe is…
  • I'm scared of distracted/ texting drivers. Buddy -my half Beagle - and I once encountered a grumpy turkey, but we're more likely to get hit by a car than anything.
  • I've been good about working out lately but I'm frustrated by my inability to stick to an eating plan. Everyday this week I've gone over. It's not terribly unhealthy stuff, and it hasn't been too crazy, but it definitely going to take me a lot longer to lose this weight if I don't get a little stricter with myself. /rant
  • for me yard work. Mowing the lawn, gardening, tidying up the yard. It all gets me moving around and often picking up and putting down heavy things.
  • If you're getting started at home check out the free workouts on Youtube. Here's a link to one that has a bunch: https://youtube.com/channel/UCD0nBMLdq_KbIK9u-mzpNkA I personally love Jillian Michaels and a number of hers are on there for free. When I was at your weight I had major lower back problems that were all tied to…
  • I was in a similar position and bought 12s. I got them at Walmart and they were about a dollar a pound so $24 for the pair. You can also buy some 3's and hold them with your 10's. It's a little harder on the hands but it's cheaper til you can afford the heavier ones.
  • I'm doing the Jillian Michaels Body Revolution - I started on weeks 5 and 6. And then on weekends I'll add in a jog or do a different DVD. I'm also trying to do yoga once a week at some point. I've had great luck with the JM routines. JM Ripped in 30 followed by Body Revolution had me in the best shape of my life last year…
  • It took about a week and a half of regular exercise but things are moving the right direction again scale wise. It's so frustrating when you're putting extra effort into watching what you eat and watching the scale go up. But I just keep telling myself you did NOT eat an extra pounds worth of food just be patient.
  • I've been doing great with my food and have kept up my new exercise plan. I think I freaked out my body a little though. My weight's been up a few pounds since I started though, and I've been sore from the exercising. I'm assuming it's water retention from muscles that are a little shocked at all the work I'm making them…
  • I did a 5k on Saturday. it was my first time running since the roads got all snowy in December and I'm a mess right now. I have super sore calves- I've been hobbling around and yelling at the kids not to jump /sit on my legs. I've done this to myself before...and what helps me is some yoga and stretching, light exercise to…
