I have started making my own bone broth and it is divine. So filling too.

@FIT_Goat Thanks for sharing. I find it fascinating...and tempting. I really appreciate the time that you took to lay out your plan and the ROI. :) I am going to give it more thought.

Hi there and welcome! If you don't regularly test, start doing so now. I know it takes time, but as you are transitioning to a LC diet, you need to see which foods cause you to spike...even the low carb ones. For example, I can eat apples fine, but more than a half, and I see a spike. Peanuts too, although they are fine…

My husband doesn't like the fat, so I eat his. :) Win for me.

I fill those little sweet peppers with cream cheese...so good. Eggs are always a go-to grab.

People have come to the Dark Side. B)

I never thought of combining pesto and cauliflower, but that sounds delicious! I may do that too. Pork loin roast studded with garlic cloves, rubbed with OO and rosemary. Topped with a Boursin sauce. Roasted vegetables Spinach salad LC dessert...probably a cheesecake. I am going to skip all of the other sides my family…

Is there an end timeline where we just call it good and make a decision?

Add me to the DP group too. My FBS is the highest BS of my day.

Welcome Alexus! I am from SW MI, near Kalamazoo. I like to cook, so keeping a variety of foods in my quick 'n ready arsenal helps a lot. Ditto the Launch Pad. I look there when I am looking for something new. Do you like cabbage? For me, it is comfort food that is very healthy, but low in carbs. It is heaven sautéed in…

Excellent article. Several of the talking points spoke to me. I starred it for future reference.

I joined after it became private too. I searched Low Carb and your group came up. I can go either way, but I prefer the private aspect of this group. MFP is full of "Would you date the poster above you?" and "Rate poster's sexiness"...I just can't take that nonsense seriously. Here, I think people are real and open about…

When I crave (which is what leads to binges for me), I eat something with a really strong flavor. Example: aged sharp cheese, tart olives, pickles, etc. Usually that kicks the sugar craving.

Aldi sells these prosciutto & mozzarella paninos that are great for on-the-go. A serving is half the log and = 3 carbs. Those carbs are worth it, because they keep me full for a long time and I can eat them during my morning commute.

Yes, this!!! I try to focus on health versus weight loss. Health comes first and weight loss is a by-product of a healthy lifestyle. My weight comes off very slowly, so I have to focus on what is happening apart from the scale. Last night, I was organizing my kitchen cabinets at 10 pm, because I had energy to spare and I…

I will be curious to follow your journey through this pregnancy and watch your midwife's eyes grow wide as she watches you manage better than before. ;) I reduced my carbs during my pregnancy, but no where near where I could have or should have been. I never had morning sickness with my three, but I do remember the food…

I had the crud over the weekend and tea and meat were my best friends. Nothing else sounded good. Feel better soon!

I buy that same coconut from Vitacost. VERY reasonable and sometimes they even have sales.

For me, avoiding those trigger foods in the beginning worked best. It was too easy to slip back into my old lifestyle. After you have been at it for a while, then give it a whirl. That said, I have found that my cravings have changed. Sometimes, I just want a hunk of meat. LOL Other times, I am perfectly fine with a simple…

That's tough, because pregnancy changes the taste of so many things. At least, it did for me. You may just have to play around with things until the first trimester passes. I ate raw green beans and chicken breast like it was my job. A 2 lb bag of raw green beans JUST for me every week. My husband and two older kids…

I agree. I don't think you NEED veggies, but I like them too much to give them up. Cabbage is my guilty pleasure. I don't even know myself any more.

Some of the best advice I received when first going LCHF was this: For the first few weeks, eat as many low carb foods as you like until you are satisfied. Don't worry about counting calories until you get your feet wet. THEN, reduce. Drink broth twice a day and salt your food. Drink lots and lots and lots of water. Try to…

Hahaha. My favorite is "This salad tastes like I would rather be fat". :)

Cool! It made me want to dive into the Olive Pit and eat my way out of it. :)
-
I would have eaten the guacamole. Just keep some pork rinds in your desk for dipping. :)

I am sick with a respiratory virus right now. Overall, I find that I don't get sick very often, but two of my three kids were sick last week with Strep throat and Croup, so yeah...sometimes, it just happens.

Congratulations! You look proud, as you should be. :) I am also donating clothes as soon as I grow out of them. It's different this time. No going back!

I try to focus on feeding my kids healthy foods at home with the occasional treat and not worry about what they eat at Grandmas or birthday parties. I don't restrict protein, veggies, cheese/yogurt, or fruit. Carbs aside, those are not the things that will make a child fat, because they are filling and they make it easy to…

I don't bring it up, unless someone asks. It is part of me, but it doesn't define me. If someone feels the need to press the matter, I just say "It works for me". Honestly, I haven't been met with that much resistance. People usually look at my plate and comment on how healthy it looks. I do eat plants, though.
