  • I just turned 45 and need to reboot my regimen. I've lost 85-ish pounds - got to my goal weight this last summer, but recently, I've had a hard time maintaining my weight, especially over the holidays. I have added 8-9 pounds and am up about 6 pounds from this time last year. Not happy about that. I need to stay motivated!…
  • GREAT post! I just want to point out to you though, if you are getting achy joints and feel tired after eating 'carbs' - coming from GRAINS/wheat, etc. you probably have a gluten intolerance - this is not a normal response to just carbs in general (like from fruits)... I know because I discovered I do better on a low carb…
  • Hi there! I am close to my final weight goal and want to join this group for continuing support! I am a long time LC supporter...I did Atkins a few years ago and lost quite a bit, but never met my final goal weight and fell off the wagon, gaining 80 pounds. I discovered last year though, that I have a gluten/grain…
  • Hi there! New to this group, old to LC! I started BACK on LC last February and have lost 79 pounds as of today, only 8 to go to my goal weight! I did Atkins years ago and did well, until I fell off the wagon and gained about 80 pounds. I tried other plans over the last 3 years but nothing worked. I also discovered that…
  • Low carb is the ONLY way I can lose weight and maintain that loss. I also found out I am gluten intolerant, so by avoiding gluten/carbs, I have NO cravings at all...I don't miss bread or pasta, it always made me feel drugged and ill after I ate it...I went into a food coma. Why would I ever miss feeling that way? I feel…
  • I take a natural supplement for my thyroid issues...this is from the health food store, but I had to have a consultation in order to get it - it is not an over the counter vitamin. I also take 6,000 units of vitamin D daily... And coconut oil, which is very good for sluggish thyroid. I have lost 79 pounds in 11…
  • And I will check out the exercise site too, thanks for the link!! :D
  • Wow! Thanks for all of the replies so far (and B-day wishes too! :o) ) I read great reviews on the collagen supplements, so I am hoping they will help. I really don't want to quit losing just yet, but I sure don't want a saggy face either! :/ I will update when I see some results!!! I hope I DO!
  • Sounds like you may have a gallbladder problem. If you start having any upper abdominal pains, you might want to have it checked out. Try taking digestive enzymes too, it helps to break down the food and will help you feel better and help your appetite. (This helped me with the same problem). Hope you feel better!
  • I just posted a similar topic the other day! Yikes. Glad to see others have faced this too! I've lost 59 pounds and still have at least 25 more to go, which will put me right in the middle of my normal weight range for my height...but I got flack about it from a friend, she said I will be waaay too thin if I lose even 20…
  • Thanks again for all of the replies. :-) I had to update with something ironic. My friend and I were discussing her weight loss and she mentioned she had gotten down to 150 a few years ago, following the South Beach plan. Well, she is 5'8" and 150 for her is underweight, or at least on the low side of the charts. Ummm, 150…
  • Yep, I agree...this is the plan and what I have been doing, but I still want to get to at least the normal weight range for my height before I concede to being 'done' ... I know our bodies will do what they want to do, and will reach a set point, but I know I am not at the healthy set point for my body yet, so will push…
  • Thanks for the replies so far everyone! :o) Helps to vent this a little! I am trying to be supportive of her weight loss too and we really are good friends, so I am trying to work past this and not let her 'beliefs' get to me... And yes, I am going to pump up my workouts a bit more again. I had been sick a bit the last few…
  • Thanks for the reply! Nope, I have a wider face and get puffy when I am heavier, weight loss does show in my face...and yeah, it IS going to look thinner when I lose weight! I hope so! And I am still in the 'obese' category for my height, but I look thinner than my actual weight, which is why she freaked out when I said I…
  • Is your thyroid normal? Have it checked, thyroid problems can make it harder to lose weight.
  • I have tried low-carb and regular dieting, (by cutting back on portion size) and have lost weight both ways. However, I think a LOT of people do well on low carb, once they cut out the carbs that contain gluten. MANY people have gluten intolerance and discover that when they go off of breads, etc., while trying a low carb…
  • Well, I have read in several other forums that people who were taking a lot of fish oil also had hair loss, so I do think there is a connection there...I wasn't taking cod liver oil...just regular purified fish oil capsules. And I am eating a much healthier diet now than I ever did before, I take supplements as…
  • I am still losing hair, after stopping fish oil supplements...so frustrated. If anyone is reading this, For those who had hair loss from taking fish oil, how long did it take to stop falling out, once you had stopped? SO upset over losing so much hair. I am going to start taking coconut oil again instead of the fish oil, I…
  • Every morning for me. I used to weigh less frequently, but that led to problems. If I go by 'how I feel' I tend to get sloppy with what I am eating. Some days I 'feel' like I have lost, but once I weigh in, I find I didn't lose, or even fluctuated up a bit! And those days when I feel cocky, like I have lost, I might be…
  • Keep posting here. :o) I recently had to stop talking to my friend about weight loss too...I had to change my whole way of eating, I cut out gluten and wheat because I am gluten sensitive...she kept saying I was on a 'diet' and diets don't work, blah blah and she could never be so restrictive. She cut back on portions and…
  • Hi Daisy!!! Hey, I'm an 'hour' glass too...but I wish I was a '30 minute' glass! ;) My legs used to be where I carried most of my weight, even when I was thinnest, but now that I am older, I carry it more all over. So far my waist has come back (after 48.5 pounds!)! And I am curvy again...just have to keep working on it…
  • Thanks for all of the replies. :o) I am definitely medium boned, hour glass shaped. :/ so yeah, the low end of the weight charts isn't going to work for me. But I do remember when I was at 155 a lady paid me a compliment I will never forget. I had lost about 50 pounds and had kept it off for several years... She offered me…
  • If sugar or anything sugar' 'related' (corn syrup, etc.) is listed in the first five ingredients of a food, skip it altogether! I can also gain from too much fruit...my body hangs onto any kinds of carbs and my loss will slow dramatically from eating a lot of fruits... I have to keep to the low glycemic fruits and I do…

  • I tried this last year... I REALLY struggled, was HUNGRY all the time and only lost 18 pounds in 6 weeks. I say only, because it was torture and I felt like I should have lost 50 for that much deprivation. Plus I put it all back on and lots more. I have since lost 48.5 pounds since February, following the "Just 10" book…
  • I found out last week I am allergic to any stevia products... I had severe body aches and all over itchiness and allergy like symptoms (I have never had allergies in my life) after using stevia for the last few months. I was fine at first too, took a while for these weird symptoms to show up and I found out about the…
