Like everyone else has said, get your poor sick cat to a vet NOW! And then find somebody that knows how to treat an animal to take it. Shame on you for treating a cat that way. I'm disgusted by your complete lack of empathy.

Wow, just... wow. A lot of uninformed people responding here. I lost 140lb about 12 years ago. I did it with diet and exercise. Then I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. And then came steroids, illnesses, side effects, hospitalizations and so forth, and I gained 100lb back over 6 years. Because of the RA and the meds…

Protein will aid in healing. So be sure to increase it to at least 80g/day. Follow what your doc says as far as exercise. You don't want to push too hard as you're other leg and body parts will be taking up for the healing leg.

To go further on this: When they make the vaccine, they guess, based on some factors (previous year, etc), which 3 strains they believe will be most prominent and that's the ones they use for the vaccine. Sometimes this is dead on, sometimes it's a huge miss (happened twice in the past decade), and usually it's got at…

Absolutely. Being a nurse myself, I was glad we were offered the shots at work. You come into constant contact with a lot of stuff. Even if you don't GET the flu, you can still CARRY the flu. And that risk is even greater for hospital workers. And hey, it's free!

I've cut back a bit, but off and on I'm playing Skyrim, LOTRO(love that it went F2P), and here's an old one for ya'll -- a MUD called LegendMUD.

I have several that I keep on a blog outside of MFP. You're welcome to take a look, it's at http://blog.pittsburgh-diet-guru.com :)

oh! I was a home health nurse for years. What I did was pack snacks such as celery and peanut butter, some lunch meat roll-ups with cream cheese, and even a protein drink. That way I could eat it while driving since it was essentially just finger foods :)

I have my own. hehe http://blog.pittsburgh-diet-guru.com

Best of luck! I love my low carb lifestyle. I have a recipe blog in my sig if you need some recipe ideas :)
-
Amen! Love my low carb lifestyle.

I would suggest trying it, but pay close attention to your body. When it hurts, stop. You don't want to damage the joints, especially if you turn out to have RA. :)
-
It's a little more different than Atkins, but I agree, it's something to consider. SBD allows the introduction of grains back in as soon as you hit phase 2(I just finished reading the Supercharged book. lol). I would look into it!

Carbs are allowed. But they're allowed in the form of veggies. So pile in those veggies. You should be getting 12g of carbs from veggies alone, minimum. Also, Muffin in a Minute(MiM) are great fiber too :)

This is actually not quite true. People often get ketosis and ketoacidosis confused. Ketosis is just another way of saying Lyposis, which is your body burning fat stores for energy. Yes, you should drink water. You should drink at least 8 glasses/day. Which isn't any more than everyone else recommends :) "Ketosis is a…

I think you should start climbing the carb ladder now. Since you just found out its a good thing to jump onto that ball right away. Also, of course, talk with your doc and see what they think regarding low carb and pregnancy. Most importantly, continue to exercise as best you can (doctor permitting). Diet isnt the only way…

That's funny. I was thinking the same thing not long ago. My finger joints and knees look huge now that I've lost a lot of weight! Maybe you should talk with the doc about this and have him check for swelling. A steroid injection usually brings that down for me. Or possibly adding methotrexate to the mix?

Absolutely. Low carb can be tricky, especially during the holidays. Stress plays a factor too, so its possible that you're sabotaging yourself a little bit there. Don't worry about the scale. Weigh yourself once a week. Put it away so you don't see it. Low carb diets, especially atkins, will often have weight losses in…

This sounds like a bastardized version of Atkins. I would immediately cut out dairy and chocolate and decrease nuts to 1 serving per day. Leave the bacon though. The dairy and chocolate(and possibly nuts) are counteracting the work you're doing with the other low carb/high fat intake.

Every once in a while I get a mad craving for Chinese food. But not the ugly buffet junk -- PF Changs. I've learned low carb alternatives to several of their recipes though. So that helps me a bit :)
-
I think this depends on what lifestyle you're on. On Atkins, personally I go with 5% carbs, 35% protein, 60% fat.
-
Oops, double post :)
-
For atkins, you want something like 5% carbs, 35% protein and 60% fat. When you set up your diary to show these, also add in fiber so that you can subtract that from your TOTAL carbs to come up with your Net. Then to keep track of that, just add it to your comments for the diary that day :)
-
I do this exact same thing! Try it with the chocolate one ;)
-
I think that so long as you're getting the results you want, what you're doing is fine. Some people do very well doing higher protein than fat and you seem to be one of those people :)

I'm going to be having the Christmas dinner at my house this year, so I get to control it all! Spiral ham lemon-garlic green beans mashed potatoes (for the non low carb people) Low carb and regular bread for sandwiches deviled eggs Mixed greens salad with balsamic vinegar and evoo dressing Probably a low carb pecan pie…

^^^ this. Hehe

Yea that's one net carb. I use the capsules daily, just because I can be bad about my veggies.

I've never heard of those noodles. Where do you find them?
