  • I've been a bit the same recently - been through a really stressful time, and its been hard going trying to get back on track ... but i'm hoping for at least a small weight loss this week, since i have been back to logging into MFP. XXX
  • i'm 5' 5" but my stats are above yours - however, looking at your pic, you look great the way you are - so maybe now concentrate on toning up muscles rather than losing more weight. You dont want to lose too much and then look too thin xxx
  • hi Jonny, i''m in Renfrewshire too ... welcome to the site; i've only been here a few months & the support and motivation has been excellent. Plus if you have any questions - no matter how daft they seem - there is always someone with an answer or suggestion to help you out xxx
  • I've had to look at what I am eating & at what time of day. It was recently brought to my attention that majority of my cals were in the evening/bedtime ... and that my body was not getting the opportunity to burn off what I was eating ...so i'm now working hard to make sure I eat at least 80% of my calories before 8pm.
  • well done - I am wearing a pair of size 16 jeans today - comfortably. My other jeans are size 18, and need to be held up with a belt they are so loose on me now .... I am trying to get down to a size 14-16 ... and then plan to treat myself to a new wardrobe of clothes that fit me. enjoy your success - and small steps soon…
  • I started going along to Dru Yoga classes earlier this year. Its a very gentle, flowing form of yoga - so does not burn up the calories the same as other kinds - but is ideal for me, as majority of poses can be done sitting in a chair ... so even if my legs are really weak/painful I can still take part. For me yoga is more…
  • definitely going to try this ... chocolate is my downfall .... I understand how smokers feel if trying to give up; because for me giving up chocolate is the same struggle xxx
  • I've always been on the heavier end of 'normal weight' since my late teens/early 20's ... if i achieve my goal of 170lbs I will be just over 12st which is an ok weight for me - and its only when I get to that weight, and see how I feel healthwise - that I will decided whether to maintain that weight, or lose a little bit…
  • i'm on a wheat-free diet, so majority of my diet is gluten-free (and has been for almost a year). Add me as a friend if you want. I have found alternatives to just about everything I would have previously eaten - either directly through using gluten-free products, or by finding something to use as alternative. You also…
  • if i've time i will have a look through the diary's .... though i have to say, this is more to get ideas of new things to try rather than scrutinising what they are eating, or whether they are eating the right things. xxx
  • start afresh ... I suffer from fibromyalgia and when the fatigue is really bad, someday's i will sleep almost 24 hours ... and barely wake up long enough to eat.... but i've learned to accept that my body needs rest more than it needs the food on these days xxxx
  • thanks everyone - it was asked more out of curiousity than anything. also i realised yesterday that one of my bottles is a litre not 750ml; so i've actually been drinking more than i thought. I too feel better when i've drank plenty of water; normally its more noticeable because i feel sluggish when i've not had enough xxx
  • I have often wondered if these type of shoes would be of benefit since I cannot do a lot of physical exercise ... and the short distance I can walk would make more of a difference ... so thanks everyone for sharing your experiences. Will give me plenty to consider if I ever do decide to go for a pair. xxx
  • hi & welcome Rachel. you will soon find you are making friends on here - and every one of them are so supportive & help to motivate you on the days you are struggling. xxx
  • hi, one thing you will definitely get from MFP is support & motivation .... the people here are top class, i've only been here a couple of months, and would have gave up by now ... but instead I am actually looking at ways of how i can increase my daily exercises xxx
  • i like the Quaker Oats so Simple with some frozen berries added while cooking. I can eat the plain oats, but I must admit I prefer the flavoured ones (apart from the golden syrup one - that's just too sweet). if i do not have any frozen berries - i will add some dried fruit instead
  • I have chronic back pain so do daily stretches to help relieve the pain. I hope these descriptions make sense Pelvic tilt - stand straight and slowly tilt your pelvic bones forward and then backwards ... do this a few times, in a gentle rocking motion. Seated pelvic tilt. Sit comfortably, both feet on ground and back…
  • thanks Sidonas, have taken note of what you say about protein for breakfast .. so will start doing that. Also what you say about the inch loss is possibly true ... as I noticed yesterday that my jeans are getting too loose for me again (when I previously lost weight, started wearing them with a belt - and even had to put…
  • Ursey, I too never used to eat a breakfast - and only started to do so recently; and you have it exactly ... eating majority of food late afternoon/evening. Today is so typical of me; I had a banana around 8.30am with my meds; and its now 11.30am and I've still ate nothing else; I have my fibromyalgia support group meeting…
  • thanks everyone - its so much appreciated. just to answer some of the points raised Water - I do drink plenty of water during the day ( most days all i drink is water or fruit/herbal teas, and occasional hot chocolate (made with soya milk or water), or fruit juice. I do not drink fizzy drinks at all now. Weighing - I have…
  • i had similar problem at weekend, was away from home for a family christening .... buffet was vegetarian - so i just had a big plate of salad, and roughly guessed the amount of coleslaw & potato salad I had (and it was made with light mayonaise, as my hubby prepared it). I have a wedding on friday - so having melon as a…
  • thanks - will just log it as wii fit exercise for now. We have the wii fit; so it means that if I dont manage round to my mums house for any reason, I can still get my daily exercise in. xxx
  • I will just be doing basic hooping with it ... because of my fibromyalgia I can only exercise for a few minutes at a time ... so this will be ideal. thanks for the link ... that works out @ 6 cals per minute, which I can use as a rough estimate.
  • I'm in Elderslie, about 13 miles south west of Glasgow ... Callander is a lovely place, been there a few times while out for the day. xxx
  • thanks so much for posting this - MFP is a great place for motivation and support; and like you I am slowly changing my eating habits and building up my exercise programme. xxx
  • ninerbuff - I always do work within my limits - I just feel that to get the weight moving I need to be doing a bit more, but its finding something that I can do without going outwith my limits. Tenlaws - unfortunately with fibromyalgia; the no pain/no gain type of workout only serves to make you worse and causes you more…
  • hermione_ar ... I'm starting hydrotherapy sessions next week, so will be interesting to see how I cope in the water with exercise; just hoping it doesnt cause me to flare and able to do even less. But yes, it does help to know i'm not alone in struglling with this etarre - I tried pilates previously, and it just sent me…
  • I did the same as you yesterday, did my weekly weigh-in and had put on almost 1lb despite being under my calories for the last week ... I ended up going on an eating binge - then felt rotten for it. But determined to get back on track today, and not let it get me any further down than I already am (not just over weight - I…
  • hiya :) whereabouts in Scotland are you originally from ???? I live just outside Glasgow
  • i couldnt do this without my food scales ... I never appreciated the need to weigh out portion sizes before now, and always thought I ate a reasonable portion for meals ... however, I have realised that for some foods I was eating double what a portion is (especially when it came to pasta). Although I have now decided that…
