  • try the barefoot contessa's roasted asparagus in the oven. Toss with EVOO, Kosher salt and pepper. Then roast at 425 degrees for about 20- 30 minutes, toss every 10 minutes. it will be toasty and nutty on the outside, tender on the inside. so delicious!

  • I agree, start counting every calorie, it's very effective and eye opening. It will help you make the right food choices over time. Do you have a smart phone - myfitnesspal's free app is the best tool I've ever used. I track food and exercise throughout the day and always know where I'm at.

  • Swimming a few times a week is a great way to start - it's low impact and burns a lot of calories - great cardio for heart and lungs. Also walking a few times a week, starting out maybe at 15 - 20 minutes, then every week adding more minutes as you build endurance and strength.

  • I just bought a great book by Dr. Judith Beck - "The Beck Diet Solution Weight Loss Book - Train your brain to think like a thin person". It doesn't provide a diet, but uses cognitive behavioral therapy to change our thoughts and take actions to instill new habits. It's really great!
