  • OK wow - I "YouTubed" it, and it does look fun. However, I am a rather stiff and non-jirating type of person. I got a Latin Dance workout video once and tried it several times before giving it away in frustration. My body just won't DO that! But I have lots of other fun things I can manage. Knock yourselves out all my…
  • Whoo-HOO, alright!!! Um, ..... what is it??
  • Keiko, I use the "rests" to do stretches instead - I'm like you ... I just can't do nothing! And the stretching seems to help me do better anyway.
  • ... you lost a pet? I hadn't had a pet in years and last year I adopted a spunky little grey kitten, but it turned out he had a genetic problem and only lived about 5 months. It's been over a year since I lost him, but when I went online to look at kitty pictures and just think about trying again, it brought back a rush of…
  • Ooh, I'm so jealous... I used to live in Florida where it was nice and flat and I would roller-blade every day. Now I live in a hilly area and am too chicken for those long downhill runs! (bwak-bwak-bwak). Anyway, I have heard that the secret to burning fat is to be in the target zone. I tend to work out above the zone,…
  • Oh no... I didn't think for a moment that it was your evil plan to get us all sick!! :embarassed: And thanks for a good recipe. I LOVE peanut butter and like you, my jar has been around several weeks so I figured it was safe..., just wondered what the scoop was on the PB thing. And thanks for the link. :flowerforyou:
  • I do something very close - but use whey protien and/or flax meal instead of the oatmeal. Never thought to try oatmeal in a smoothie - but I'll give it a go. Have "they" told us PB is alright again now? They had a salmonella scare last week, I think.
  • Hey ... great to have you! I'm a fellow NoCal gal myself. My tip - don't get discouraged. Over the course of 2-3 years I lost like 50 pounds, but for a year I've been battling to get the last 10 off, and not quite getting there. But... it took some time to put on and it WILL come off if I keep at it! (I found that the…
  • Like best: Pigeon Like least: Chair (the "strong" pose) Easiest: I love all the twists - don't know what that says about me! Hardest: I just can't do a full squat with my heels down - don't remember what that is called, but I've never, ever been able to do that. rrrrrrrrr....
  • Preach it, sister! I'm a little into my 40's now and do know how important weight training is. However, I am a little duanted about going over into the "boys area" of the gym as I call it. I use Nautilus and the other machines a lot, but am a little uncertain about tackling free weights. Do you use free weights? (if so...)…
  • OOOhhhhhhh.... made you look!!! I really love YOGA and want to do it more at home, so my question is for other yoga-addicts? What pose: - do you like best? - do you like least? - do you find the easiest? - do you find the hardest?
  • I just finished week 3, but I think I'm going to repeat it because I was barely able to do it with "quakey arms" at the end, and no extras on the max. (plus I'm not in a hurry to reach the big bad week five) :ohwell:
  • What I do is put "Up Steps" for running up them, and I use "Walking - very brisk" for going down.
  • Awesome to have you here - even if you are walking around on the world upside down! JK. I used to have a pal from Oz and he had a map with the world rightway up and Australia on top. Loved it. If you want to, there is also a thread going under the fitness and exercise called 100 pushup challenge. (you could probably search…
  • Awesome for naturally lowering cholesterol. Good source of fiber, so also helps with digestion. Great nutty taste. I love it - I put ground flax meal on all sorts of stuff!
  • I have been eating less meat, but not because of the book. Then I read an article yesterday that says women should eat beef, whole milk products and eggs in order to lose weight! Come ON - someone - make up your mind!!! (Maybe they lose weight but then drop dead from the cholesterol but at least they die skinny?)
  • I like healthy cereals - no prep time at all. Sometimes I pour a bowl of grapenuts, and then add flax meal, pre-chopped walnuts, and raisins (or dried cranberries). Yum. The flax is great for lowering cholesterol, and the fruit makes it nice and sweet. Other times I pre-chop the night before... 1/4 cup each of crimini…
  • It's important to measure because portion sizes have gotten crazy big in America and most of us have lost sight of what a reasonable portion should be. Someone told me once that a platter of food in New York is 3X the same platter size in France. Hmm. Anyway, like another member said, after you measure something 4 or 5…
  • Man, I've been sooo good - for over 5 months, I have been a total Nazi about healthy food, and out of the blue today, I ordered a big, greasy, cheesy burger. Ahhhh. (at least I said no bacon!) But - and I say this to encourage people who think they REALLY want some awful gob of fat-food - it's nooottt wooorrrth iiiitttttt!…
  • Ee-ooh. I was a lucky visitor at the National Zoo last year, when one of the female lions had a hairball - same nasty, heaving sound, but roaring instead. It was amazing... something to put on your bucket list for sure! PS - what week do you start doing double sets? I'm almost done groaning through week 3.
  • Giving up coffe is a cinch! I've done it several dozen times now! *wink*wink*
  • Right ON!!!!!!!!!!! Sometimes, happiness IS losing something!!

  • So, I decided to fork over a few bucks and have a nutrition expert make some suggestions for me. She started right in on sugars, fats, etc, and had me cutting out foods here and there, gradually. But when she got to cheese... no way, Jose! I pushed back so hard that she just gave me limits but didn't make me cut it out all…
  • Well, I see I'm casting my vote with the majority here. Yes, every day and always ALWAYS at the same time and conditions (right after I get up - birthday suit). It's a real motivator! Some days I think for SURE I lost a pound and it went up one (or 2 - gasp), and sometimes I am dreading seeing bad news and get a nice…
  • Yup. I read in a naturalist food magazine that the desire for salts, sugars and fats definitely "kicks in" with menstration, becasue your body naturally wants to "prep" for a possible pregnancy. Same reason for the water retention. Not that that is such a big help while you're lying there - just wanted to reassure you that…

  • And I would be your southern neighbor down in SoCal. :glasses: Now you DO have a fitness buddy - you have like 43 thousand. This is a very encouraging site. You can do it!!!
  • Marla, you worry me a little.... do you just not sleep?... or do you belong to the legions of the undead, and don't need to??! JK - you sure have some crazy hours for putting in the push-ups, but it's great you're doing it! I was encouraged to see that lots of people were repeating weeks, and that that's OK. I was starting…
  • I made a salad at home last week, and when I went to log it, I ended up having to make TWELVE entries to get everything in it. It was awesome, though. And I had the opposite shocker... it came to not quite 200 calories. Your salad choice sounded perfect for the conditions, btw, but if you ever have a lazy, non-exercise day…
  • Hooah! How were your scores? Wynnie (fellow "chick-in-boots")
  • Ugh! I'm just finishing week 2, and it's starting to get pretty challenging. (hmm... maybe why it's called a "challenge"? ). Anyway - I wonder if it would be too wussy of me to say I'll go as far as 50 doing the real pushups and then switch to knee -pushups?
