  • well, as a triathlete I can tell you that it is pretty much mandatory to have some days where I do 2 workouts. That can either be 1 really long workout where I combine 2 "sports" or it can be morning/evening. Currently I am training for a half marathon and a triathlon. As such, I've had to significantly reduce my strength…
  • I swim laps in the pool as part of my triathlon training. I honestly kind of dread it because it is monotonous; but it is nice that it is low impact on my joints it kind of serves as a "rest day" from my other workouts... I do some laps with a kickboard and some laps with hand paddles, some laps with fins and some with a…
  • I have been doing this a long time (7+ years) and I frequently have weeks where I don't lose weight or even weeks where I gain a pound or 2 and yet I KNOW I stuck to my plan...some days I even have an excess of 200-300 calories due to exercise. I chalk this up to just being near my goal weight and maybe that means I should…
  • been in the same boat for over 4 years now. I'm at my goal weight. I workout 5 days a week with a good mixture of cardio, weights, toning with pilates/yoga. I've done several 5 week "Exercise Boot Camp" regimens. I became a triathlete to try and gain the toning benefits from swimming and actually went UNDER my goal weight.…
  • well, honestly I haven't tried yet. We don't have a pull up bar at home. I'll ask the hubby to install one soon. The last 3 weeks I've been focused on training for the Warrior Dash which I completed on saturday. Now that that is done, I can be a little more "rounded" in my workouts....
  • Just finished W3D1 15-20-15-15-15 (I was supposed to do 25 on the last rep, but I couldn't. I literally collapsed.) I slacked last week....actually I didn't really slack since I am training for a 5k this weekend....but I did slack on the pushups!
  • i've been vegetarian 20+ years (since gradeschool) and I"m a pretty boring cook. Part of me is inspired, and part of me is overwhelmed. Questions: Do you meal plan (like a week at a time or whatever?) How many do you cook for? All this work for 1 person seems like a wasted work of art....but my 3 year doesn't really…
  • I'd love to be able to do pull-ups. Have never actually completed one in my life (not to say I haven't tried) how do you train for pull-ups if you cannot even do ONE?
  • I don't think it matters how often we check in...every day or every week whatever keeps you motivated. I forgot to check-in last week. I am up to Week 2 Day 3 18-18-16-16-22 getting easier each time, but those last couple of the 5th rep are always buggers for me!! I am also doing Couch to 5K and the 200 situp challenge; so…
  • W1D2 11-13-9-9-13 today was MUCH harder...I was still sore from day 1. I was able to do those last 13 but just barely, and they were UGLY!
  • salt and pepper hair with more pepper and less salt just a little 5 o' clock shadow square, strong jaw line a tiny bit of pudge on an otherwise fit and muscular body (like maybe 5-7 lbs overweight for a average height man)
  • OK I did W1D1 this morning after my jog/walk 11 13 8 8 10 the last 10 were VERY hard.....the others were OK
  • No, don't worry I am not doing the Coeur d' Alene Ironman. I doubt i'll ever do that, or if I did it would be at least 5 years away!! No this will be the Olympic distance triathlon held in August of each year. 1,500 meter swim, 20 mile bike, 10k run. Yes, I agree I need to find some lesser events to compete in between now…
  • I am also doing C25K right now. Biking is my best (and that's not saying much) running I'm pretty bad at but swimming is my absolute WORST! I never really learned to swim....sorta taught myself a crappy adapted style over the years....so I have to start my swim training at ground zero with adult swim lessons! EMBARASSING…
  • I'm training for a triathalon in April 2013 that will include a 20 mile hilly bike ride. Lucky for me I live by a bunch of hills and have a sorta crappy bike! How do I pledge? I'd say I'm good for 15 miles a week....but since this is a challenge I'll shoot for 20 miles a week in august! Anyways tonight I did 4 miles…
  • I'm with you on this. I think that if you live long enough you're bound to get cancer. People are living longer....so VOILA! more cancer. Not to mention we have early detection techniques now that we didn't used to have. Result we FIND a lot more cancer....even if that person would have never died from it....perhaps they…
  • I'm not going to delve into the semantics debate attempting to define "toxin vs toxic" I don't think anybody here thinks a diet high in sugar is a good thing- But I don't think very many rational people think that the occasional splurge on a tiny bit of sugar will kill you either. What I do find interesting is if you look…
  • great link! thanks. Well, I'm on my 5th day of training. I've taken one day of "rest" in the middle. going good so far...
  • I did Week 2 Day 1 yesterday morning: 14-14-10-10-15. That last 15 was really tough. It's a lot harder when you only get 60 seconds to rest. Anyone else do their pushups this week?
  • tried to do W3D1 last night....my Right knee just hurts way too bad...I ran for about 20 seconds then had to stop. So I walked for 30 mins. Boo Hoo....I'm gonna give it a full WEEK to heal up this time...if I still can't run in a week, I'll go to the doctor. Anyone else having knee problems? Or other injuries? I wanna stay…
  • Last night did W1D3: 11-15-9-9-14 I'm getting stronger...I can almost see muscles if I flex and use my imagination!
  • Anyone still on this thread? I did week 2 day 2 thursday night. My knee is kinda bugging me so I'm going to take a little break until Sunday.
  • I'n going to join this thread if it's OK. I joined another one that seems to have trickled down to almost nothing. I did week 2 day 2 Thursday night. The running part didn't feel as bad as I expected...but maybe that's because I'm focusing so much on my Right knee which mildly hurts ALL the time now. I'm going shoe…
  • Sorry I haven't been checking in. So Weds I did Week 1 day 1. I'm starting on level 3. I forgot my paper, so I was doing it from memory and did 10-12-8-8-8 with 60 second rest periods (I was supposed to do 10-12-7-7-Max). Friday (last night) I did Week 1 Day 2 and did 10-12-8-8-13. How are you all doing? Let's post our…
  • Hows everyone doing with their running? Still going strong? I just finished week 1! WooHoo!
  • Ugggh. Just did week 1 day 2. It still wasn't too hard, but it was A LOT harder than the very fist day. I'm guessing because of muscle fatigue and soreness. I can see now that this will be harder than I thought. But, I'm still excited to press on and challenge myself!
  • Week 1: jog 60 seconds then walk 90 seconds. Repeat for 20 mins total (after 5 minute warm up walk) I just did week 1 day one. On a treadmill. It didn't seem too hard, but I know that it purposely starts off slowly. Now, the key is to stick with it!!!
  • Yes! I would love to do this. I checked out the other thread, but it is kind of crowded with lots and lots of posts to sift through and most of those people are about a week ahead of us. Should we start our own thread here? The first day I could probably start would be Thursday evening after work, or Friday morning at the…
  • How do you all post pictures and your baby tickers? I've tried 3 or 4 times and can't seem to get it done!
