to check if you've removed most or all of the alcohol, try lighting it on fire after it's cooked. if it comes to a boil, it's definitely alcohol-free at the point. alcohol is 7 kcal per gram, so...that would decrease the calorie count but i'm not sure by how much. bonus!

I actually managed to not take it personally. And just to humor her, I found the only resistance I could and put it on my chest as I did sit-ups..and she sat on her butt. I may have looked silly with a pumpkin on my chest, but I was burning calories!

I did 1300 kcals for the first two months or so and killed my metabolism. Are you feeling tired? not seeing much weight loss? raise 'em to 1500 or even 1800 and see how much better you feel! be patient and do it permanently and healthy!
