  • Keep in mind when training for ANYTHING that your last 7 meals are still in your digestive system. So I pay extra close attention to what I am eating starting 2 days before the race (typically no "cheat" foods). Also, I do my carbo-load 2 nights before the race. The food will still be in my digestive system but the carbs…
  • thanks everyone! all of your advice is fantastic. I think I'm going to make my diary public and see if any "red flags" are noticed. Also, I guess it's time to kick up the cardio! Thanks again everyone!!
  • thank you everyone for your advice! i definitely agree with you all that i shouldnt change anything the morning of my race. it's the most obvious thing, and i totally overlooked it! i'm glad that my pb/banana combo seems to be the best bet. thanks again!!
  • loco's doesnt have their nutritional info posted (boooo on them!) i'm trying to decide on a healthy, but filling choice. i ate a HUGE breakfast loaded with cals, so even after eating dinner and then working out, i probably will still be over a little bit. but i'm going to locos for a meeting. my ideas: the garden sandwich…
  • I just started 30 Day Shred. I've been really excited waiting for it in the mail and it FINALLY got here. As excited as I am, i'm a little skeptical that it will give really noticeable results with just 20 minutes a day. clearly, i am NOT expecting to look like jillian michaels or the other girls in the video after the 30…
  • i'm going to a pool party and want to bring something that i can feel not-so-bad about munching on? it's a cookout, so we're all bringing stuff to share. i'm bringing some stuff to throw in my pool bag for me in case all of the other options are things i don't want to have (cake, cookies, etc...). so basically i'm wanting…

  • i will admit, there are sometimes that i do eat when i am bored - and that is an emotion. other times i just want to eat yummy food. the priority thing is a good point, i used to put reminders on sticky notes around the house to remind me why im trying to lose weight. i think it's time i start that again! most of the time…
  • thank you thank you thank you EVERYONE! i can't wait to start trying these out! mmmmm
  • so i'm one of those people that eats when i'm not hungry (like 99% of other ppl trying to lose weight, it seems). i tried to be concious of how i was feeling when i ate and wasn't hungry. i wasn't upset. wasn't stressed. no anxiety, nothing. i just like food. there is food i just want to eat because it TASTES good. and…
  • so i really don't like avacodos... but i had "helluva good" guacamole (which i later found out what guac FLAVORED dip... hmph), but I really liked it. has anyone had the Helluva good kind, and any suggestions on how I can make it so I'll like it? I'm thinking I will need to add some sour cream or mayo or something to the…

  • sounds good! def want to try!
  • anytime i mix splenda and cream cheese, it's never gritty! actually seems to mix pretty well; but i also will add some vanilla extract and some cool whip, so it may blend better because of that.
  • i think it's really an individual-case thing. there are some people who have more success by not eating the calories, while others will gain weight if they don't eat them because their body may NEED those calories. I think it's just a matter of trial and error and seeing what works for you. Maybe don't eat them back for a…
  • researching HRMs! going to look on Amazon and Ebay and see what kind of a deal I can get. What HRM do YOU use, and what do you like about it? What should I look for in a HRM to get the most out of it? I've read other threads about ones that come with a watch where you can input all of your info to get the most accurate…
  • so i was reading another thread about fruit pizzas, and now i want to make one. what kind of things could be used as the crust? the other thread mentioned a cookie crust. what kind of cookie do yall think would be good? any other alternatives for a "crust"? :flowerforyou:
  • any time i make cream cheese frosting, i take some ff cream cheese, 1/2 a cup or so of sweetener, some vanilla extract, and some cool whip free (i just eyeball all of the ingredients until it's the consistency i want) and blend it together with a mixer. always delish. but cool whip free on it's own would be a great…
  • when you say soy protein - do you just mean the protein in soy milk? or would you get it from somewhere else? i LOVE chocolate soy milk. havent had it in forever, but this could be a good reason to start drinking it again!
  • star- sorry, just saw your post! i havent started his plan yet, but I plan to when it gets to be about 10 weeks before my race. i won't follow his plan to a "t" because of my shin splints. I will probably run about 3 times a week, one of those days being a long run, the other two being about 2-4 miles (depending on how my…
  • i guess it DOES make sense to refuel your muscles after cardio, too. i made a yummy pb&j english muffin to get some protein. i thought carbs were good before a workout, to give you energy, and then protein after to refuel?
  • so i know it's good to eat some protein after a workout to help repair and refuel your muscles. does the same apply even if you just do cardio and no strength training?
  • I've been a "runner" (running competitively) for about a year and a half, but I haven't been running as much as I used to. The last time I ran was a 5K at the beginning of March (...yikes!) But I'm ready to get back into my normal routine, which is:: 3-4 days/week, with runs ranging from 3-4 miles each time. I went to…
  • i just ordered my DVD, should be waiting in my mailbox when I return from the beach (!!) does the DVD come with some basic "instructions?" like, when to move to the next level? i cant wait to start!!!
  • thanks! with this being my first 10K, i'm definetly just looking to finish, but finish strong. I want to feel like I pushed myself and not feel like i am going to pass out once i cross the finish line. i'll check out this hal higdon.
  • I snagged a spot in the Peachtree Road Race in Atlanta for the 4th of July (yay!). I've been looking at some websites with training plans (runnersworld.com, active.com). Some of the training things they talk about are a little confusing to me (Speed Work, Intervals, etc.). Are there any sites that kind of "break it down"…
  • thanks for the advice everyone! one more question: are rest days built in to the 30-Day Shred? are rest days recommended (I would assume that a rest day 1x/week would be recommended for any work-out plan, right?)
  • Hey everyone.. i've been checking out previous threads on the Jillian Michaels 30-Day Shred. I think I'm jumping on the bandwagon and buying it! I go on a cruise in about a month, so I think this is a great way finish getting ready! I have a few questions:: 1. If I don't have a HRM (I'm going to invest in one, just can't…
