  • There are some hormonal changes at menopause that significantly impact weight distribution and fat storage, but that is a long way off, set your goals to be healthy and you can achieve your goals.
  • Ok, I am back :-) my 5 weeks of hectic are gone. Logging again and trained today. Feels great! I will be in for the weekly challenges now :-)
  • I am ok now, but I used to wear long underwear that held my thighs in, I was only about 102kg though (220ish). I found that that worked ok.
  • Got an ft7 polar today, I think the ft4 is just as functional, will let you know how i go.
  • You are far from an idiot, you based your thinking on what information you had at the time, now the information you have has changed, your thinking has changed. That makes you smart in my book. But the same thing will happen with food, make sure you confirm calorie values from a few different sources if you dont have the…
  • But 100% agree with discussing with your GP first.
  • Jogging will be quite a bit harder, but 3 hours of cycling is pretty good. Do you have a portable pulse oximeter that gives you an O2 saturation reading? There are methods like pursed lipped breathing that may help you when you are running, you may find you do a similar thing now, either being aware of doing it, or…
  • Yup, that what I do as well! It is good to see progress as well.
  • For dollar value I like Whey protein shakes - Generally you can buy bulk 1kg-5kg and save $. They are 30/30/2 generally when made up with skim.
  • There are bodybuilders out there that are vegetarians. As to science doing it because it can....I am guessing that the process of funding research both prior and up until the point of being able to grow the meat may be foreign to you, money is not easy to come by. One of the complaints of researchers is that they cannot do…
  • Drinking those amounts of water is getting into very dangerous territory. Below are exerts from a couple of journal articles that should be considered when looking at water intake. The general population seem to accept that increased water consumption is fine, within reason it is, but that effect is not along a continuum,…
  • Haha :-) You gunna be tiiiiiiired!
  • Yup there is a difference. I think the above poster is right as well though. The way the world views us has changed, but the way we view ourselves and how we perceive other peoples behavior towards us is changing/changed.
  • The neuron bit is coming. I spent a few years doing neuro research, the brain is an amazing piece of organic engineering. We are really waiting for the technology to come up, but if we provide the brain with signals, it pretty well works out itself what to do with them, it is phenomenal. A good general starting point is…
  • I support lab grown meat 110%. The term itself is used to propagate misinformation. I support GM crops 100%. Do people realise we have been doing this since the dawn of civilization? Goggle Gregor Mendel and read a book. Idealism is fine. It gives something to strive for, but people are dying folks. Has anyone been to a…
  • I use it to keep my protein levels up, it really helps in keeping me full. The only meal I use it to replace is breakfast, otherwise it is a filler.
  • Yup I agree, if alcohol is involved it turns into minimum 2, sometimes 3 cheat days! Better off only drinking once a month if you must at all.
  • I cheat one day a week. And when I say cheat, I mean I cheeeeeeaaaaat! I nail upwards of 5000-7000 calories for the day, but I dont limit myself at all. It is generally a weekend and it really motivates me and focuses me for the weekend. I am maintaining a loss of around 2lbs or around 600grams weekly. I am happy with this…
  • Lol, I dont have shame and guilt with mine. I work hard and I plan them. They help keep me motivated. My best effort in the past was buying kebabs, McDonalds, and KFC for the one meal. I have spent over $50 on Indian...for myself. Ploughing through 2 pizzas is easy. But I just dont do it every other night now! I have one…
  • I agree with the psychological call. We are not independent of our body, our hormones will influence the way we think, and they will also influence the way the body works. There will be diminishing gains at lower weights, and there will be less drive because of the hormonal influences. People can argue that is is all…
  • I am down about 30 pound so far. I am just over halfway to my goal, I will post up soon :-)
  • Only from a nutritional point of view. There are small variations in the way the body will process molecules, but in the end a calorie is a calorie is a calorie. Aim for the healthiest eating that fits into your lifestyle, move around a bit, be honest with yourself and educate yourself and you will be fine.
  • Before mfp.... about 4500-5000 a day. Logging on here was eye opening to say the least! Hence being sensible with diet has helped my weight start melting away.
  • When running up a hill/sand dune - "The mountain knows not of my challenge".
  • Thanks, just discovered the search function :)

  • Sorry, got my figure wrong, In Australia, the recommended level is 1600mg (based on recommendations from the The National Health and Medical Research Centre) But since most people eat so far above their level, the guide is to aim for around 2300 initially then move from there. For Americans the CDC recommends less than…

  • Life will lead you to a place where you will have a greater understanding of this issue.
  • The best type of exercise is the type you like. If you force yourself to do it, it is not sustainable. You may grow to like some forms, you currently do not, but if you like strength, continue with it and if you do not get results, as a previous poster mentioned, hit the circuits.
