  • I've had 15 pound swings. I alternate a lot at this point after hitting my goal weight depending on what my body ask for. Sometimes I do keto, sometimes low carb, sometimes I'm high carb especially during heavy exercise times. Takes extra water molecules to work through those carbs/glucose but just as fast as it adds water…
  • I've found it to be a total mess. Last one I went out with had no kids, never married and my age. I'm like cool, I have no kids and never married myself so maybe this has a chance. She then proceeds to explain to me on a first date how she would stab me out of nowhere. *Check please. Don't need crazy!*
  • Hi Donnie. T2 is a journey but it can be beat into a dormant type mode with life style changes and an understanding of what you are eating and especially when to eat it. It will take work and educating yourself but with dedication that 50 pounds will come off and the pills may go away with it. I went from a 7.3 A1C on…
  • January does tend to suck from an overcrowding/lack of machines/yoga mat place standpoint but it also can be entertaining if you accept it for what it is knowing its mostly 2-3 weeks and over and they are helping to fund a reasonable membership for the rest of us the remaining 11 months. I just make it a spectator sport in…
  • I went through something like this. At my peak I was about 400 pounds and was able to get down to under 220. For me the drive was always having some goal related to losing weight: get to a number on the scale, get my blood sugar under control, look a certain way, fit into a large shirt and not the stuff from the big guy…
  • Flax Tempeh from Whole Foods fits nicely in the keto-plant based macro. If you are near a Publix there is a veggie burger in the vegetarian area that is high fiber as well. The nice thing about being plant based is you can easily be more low carb vs strict keto and still dip into keto benefit levels due to the high fiber.…
  • I lost a lot of my weight (50+ pounds) with Yoga as my activity alone. It really came down to the diet and CICO for me but a nearly daily Yoga practice give me much more than just just a moderate calorie burn. I learned discipline to stop and respect what I was putting in my body. Total win-win. If you are chasing the…
  • That one is solid regarding keto. Look into the Real Skinny on Fat series as well as that left me amazed about what food does in our body. There are a lot of amazing in depth documentaries out there that will get you thinking about food intake and the sources. So much bad out there beyond all the marketing of garbage foods…
  • Block of super firm high protein tofu - 75 grams. Cup of black beans - 32 grams. 3 eggs - 18 grams. Easy 125 grams of protein, a little over 50 grams of fat and under 50 net carb due to heavy fiber. Pretty much I incorporate that into my meals along with other veggie sources and add or reduce based on my workouts.
  • I'm glad to read you are taking steps to correct your health. At my peak I was 400 pounds so walked a similar path. A few suggestions: It is important that you are working with a doctor to figure out your limits. They may also consider having you see a heart specialist to check what your heart can take. Visceral fat will…
  • @snha and anyone interested. Carbs are a tricky thing for me being a controlled Type 2 diabetic and my intake levels of it is directly tied into timing around my workouts so the muscles consume the glucose and I don't get my body flooded with toxic levels. (Glycogen stores in the muscles). The type of workout and length…
  • I go a different way and don't have a static number and have learned over time to just give the body whatever it needs. Might be at 20 net for a few days to the point that keto breath kicks in and could also have periods where I'm at 150 net on heavy workout days to refuel the muscles. Same goes for fat/protein and overall…
  • A suggestion would be to go get an RMR test done and get your maintenance calorie numbers every few months. Takes the guessing out of it. At one point I needed 3700 just to maintain weight now I'm down to 2300. Metabolism slows down and revs up with a lot of it tied into lean muscle levels and many other things. Lots of…
  • @lpina2mi 1 container of High Protein Tofu would get you to 75 grams by itself. It's super firm so easy to work with. Around $3.50 at Whole Foods. Add in a serving of black beans and you are easily there.
  • Cut some firm tofu into squares. I like the high protein version from Whole foods as it is easier to work with. Have it sit in a little olive oil, apple cider vinegar and hot pepper along with thyme and any granulated spices you like for a few hours in the fridge flipping at least once. Bake for up to an hour at 350…
  • @deClaire Want to say thank you for the reference to Dominion and Earthlings. I watched both today and wow. Never touching meat again. Wrong in so many ways. Even downloaded the Is it Vegan App to verify everything after watching those documentaries. Eyes WIDE open now.
  • Thank you! Will check it out. I think I've watched everything on Prime and Netflix at this point. More knowledge the better. I felt great before with Keto-Low Carb fixing my health this past year but these last few days of plant based are even on another level while even being able to maintain a low carb level. The…
  • @deClaire Thanks for the references! I'll take a look. I've been watching a lot of the Amazon Prime/Netflix Vegan documentaries for a while now which helped improve my understanding of the BS being done to the animals. I kind of turned a blind eye to poultry but couldn't do it anymore. Life is life and now that I know I…
  • I finally took the leap over the past week. What sent me over the top was a random video I saw on how chickens were being treated and injected with all kind of chemicals. I already hadn't eaten red meat or pork in over 13 years with fish around 3 to 4 times yearly for some of the same reasons. Outside of cheese, dairy was…
  • 37 in the 2018 pic. That has been one of the great side benefits of this health reboot beyond just the weight loss is I've heard that I seemed to have reversed age. Lots of Yoga with periods of carb cycling and IF while eliminating most overly processed foods 80% of the time.
  • I do 1 of the free range type brown eggs a day along with a pint of egg whites for breakfast.
  • As a direct cause for my weight loss: I highly doubt it. That I attribute to mostly CICO with a solid WOE and fitness routine as a guide over the past year. With that said I cook with the stuff almost daily but never looked at it as a weight loss item. I use it because it tends to bring out the flavors in the sauces I make.
  • Happy to read that you are having solid results: Congrats! Totally agree. Keto/LC has become the norm in my life. Even when I stray my body calls me back pretty quickly. Our natural way that we are supposed to be. I had a good laugh today. Spent April focusing on weights which meant more carbs but May is a keto month.…
  • @Luciicul Thank you for the response. I agree that there is a lot of comparison vs aspartame, sucrose etc out there. I struggled to find much of anything for the comparison part of my project showing insulin increases from raw/minimal processed stevia and while the professor didn't ding me for being limited on facts on…
  • @Luciicul Not being confrontational in any way but I am a stevia user and always try to look at all angles for my own knowledge. Do you have a link to a study that shows stevia raises insulin levels? I've done extensive research on stevia for a Nutrition Science class and if anything stevia improves our insulin…
  • I exercise a high amount and tend to only take upper level carbs/protein in on a timing basis to fuel the muscles during weight lifting days. I'd imagine there are some benefits to doing that in the cycling world as well. After 45+ minutes of exercise fat for fuel is ultimate and can almost keep you going energy wise until…
  • Minimally processed pure stevia liquid extract has been a game changer for me. After taking a Nutritional Science class and spending a lot of time on a mid-term project researching sweeteners like Truvia I moved away from it. Good in concept but its a 40 step process for the big soda company to make that product. I've had…
