Recalculating calories
I started on the 1200 calories allocated by MFP because I'm 5ft and aged 67. Since then [last September] I have lost 38lbs [now 123lbs]. I now have 13lbs left to lose to reach my goal of 112lbs but of course my rate of loss has slowed [no weight loss this week :'( ]. I see many posts telling people to recalculate their…

Forum Weight Loss Challenges - positive or negative?
Can challenges help people to lose healthily within a given timeframe, or does the competitive spirit in some people outweigh common sense and lead them to cut calories too much and lead to problems with their onging weight loss?

There are 'BAD' foods
I see lots of posts stating that there are no 'bad' foods but if this is the case why do we have expressions like 'naughty but nice' when we have eaten something scrumptious we know we shouldn't have? I know that with CICO I could spend all or most of my daily calories on foods like full fat cheeses, cakes, pastries,…

Are Americans Weaned on Peanut Butter?
Peanut butter is mentioned in lots of threads and I am wondering why people in US especially love it so much. I tried it once years ago and it made me gag. I didn't like the taste or the texture and haven't touched it since.

The way people think.
When talking to friends my OH has mentioned that I am on a weight loss diet and has said he is eating the same dinners as me. They have then said 'but what are you having for dinner'? and he replied that the meals I cook are very tasty and varied and that he is enjoying "my" diet. He's told them I cook 'real meals' but…

Thai Meal Out
This month's Curry Club meal will be at a Thai restaurant (don't know which yet). I must admit I haven't been to a Thai restaurant yet. Is Thai food similar to Chinese calorie wise? and can anyone suggest which dishes are the best to pick when on 1200 cals a day.

Help needed with exercise please
I am back to front with exercise. When I'm very overweight [like now] I find exercising, even walking or doing my housework, painful and stressful [I have a hairline fracture in my back and the extra weight makes my back even worse. When I've lost the weight [as in the past] I could move and walk, cycle, do heavy gardening…

Eat less - spend more?
Is your weekly food spend more or less now that you are on a weight loss journey? I am finding that I still spend the same as before I started with MFP. What I save on cake, crisps, frozen chips I spend on fruit.

Macdonalds - USA and UK - Why the difference?
I've just been looking at the calories for Macdonalds food and find that a bigmac in UK is 508 cals and in USA 570 cals. The difference is even greater with the fries - UK large portion = 444 cals and USA large portion = 570 cals. I always thought Macdonalds food was the same worldwide but obviously not. What is the…

Wine when you are on 1200 calories a day
I like to have a couple of small (150ml) glasses of wine on Saturdays and Sundays but that is 206 cals. As eating under 1200 cals a day means I would not get all my nutrients (and I will not do this) I have no alternative but to use exercise cals earned for my treat - therefore in my eyes wine is doing me a favour by…

MFP gives me 1200 cals but Scoobies workshop gives me 1390 cals
I input the same criteria as I did into MFP and Scoobies workshop gives me more daily calories to enable me to lose at the same rate as MFP i.e. 0.9lb per week. I have been on 1200 cals with MFP and over the last 2 weeks have lost 4lbs. Either half of that weight loss has been water or I am under eating quite considerably…

Anyone know a supermarket (in UK) that sells Tofu?
All I see is quorn in the supermarkets and I don't like that as would prefer to infuse my flavours into basic Tofu.

Wow what a difference
Before I started weighing and logging with MFP I would take the calorific values given in recipe books as 'gospel'. I've just weighed out and logged a recipe for cider and mustard chicken which I am having tonight and wow what a difference......my book (101 Low Fat Feasts) gives a cal. value of 235 for the dish but when I…

Out of protein
I've already filled in my diary for breakfast and what I'm cooking for dinner tonight and although I have 400 odd calories left for lunch my diary says I have reached my protein limit. I'm hungry now any ideas on what I can have that's not too high protein but will see me through to about 8pm (uk)

Cooking for yourself and your partner (kids)
I am cooking a healthy dinner every night for my partner and myself. I just give him a bigger portion than mine because he doesn't need to lose any weight. He says he really enjoys the recipes I am preparing so we are both happy and I don't have to cook twice. How do you work things in your household?

Points v Calories
I used Weightwatchers a few years ago and lost weight with their points system where calories are never mentioned. Has anyone else done weightwatchers and if so which is best, calorie counting or point counting?
