Before I started weighing and logging with MFP I would take the calorific values given in recipe books as 'gospel'. I've just weighed out and logged a recipe for cider and mustard chicken which I am having tonight and wow what a difference......my book (101 Low Fat Feasts) gives a cal. value of 235 for the dish but when I weighed and logged everything it comes out at 370 calories (140 calorie difference). The recipe just says 2 skinless chicken thighs per person. I love a lot of the recipes in this book but imagine if I just did 'quick add' every time I logged a home made meal (which I do every night)...I don't think I'd ever make any headway. I am not saying my logging is perfect but I try to be as accurate as I can.

When people on here tell those wondering why they are not losing weight on their allotted calorie intake that they need to weigh everything they are soooo right.
