UK based guys - weight lifting

Bad advice?
I overhear in my office people being given bad advice when starting their fitness journeys. For example, someone was told to lose weight she had to cut out carbs. There was no medical reason for it. Just cut out carbs and the weight will all fall off :# What's the worst advice you've received? Or heard about?

What's one thing that doesn't exist anymore (or isn't used as common as before) that you wish you could bring back? Mine is free carrier bags. And dinosaurs.

Worst injury
I've never had a serious injury - no broken bones or twisted ligaments - in my life. Ever. A few consecutive sprained ankles (don't laugh!!) is about as bad as it's got for me. What's been your worst injury?

Calves
When I first started working out I had that typical mindset of "I want big arms and a big chest". Turns out, that's the easy bit. But good lord almighty calves just don't grow!! New to this
Been on mfp for about a year but this is my first visit to the forums. I've just come off a cut to get lean and now going back on my bulk. Don't have any mates that are into the fitness lifestyle so looking to connect with like minded people and motivate each other!
