Depression Lights
Yay or nay? I've heard quite a few people get seasonal boosts from using these twice a day, 20 min. each. My dd suffers from depression and anxiety and I'd love to send her one if I knew it'd help. My sister and BIL now use a 10K Lux Light and she's noticed a difference with both of them. If you could share your…

Won't you be...won't you be my trainer? :)
I'm not a gym person and am starting basically from ground zero. The equipment I have includes a treadmill, good jump rope, yoga mat, and a good weighted hula hoop. Things I use ATM: 2-4 miles a day of brisk walking on the treadmill Things I want to try and incorporate into some kind of a routine: Jumping rope Hula hoop…

Online site to enter your body measurements?
In the past, I remember entering my measurements, then seeing a model try on clothes, according to my numbers. I hope I'm not imagining it but do you know of anyplace that does this? Thanks!!

Yoga? Meditation? Anyone?
Looking to add something like yoga or meditation or ??? but not really sure how to get started or what to pick. Not knowing is my greatest reason for procrastination. So if any of you does something besides cardio or strength, etc., can you share your experiences? Thanks!

Happy Thanksgiving!
And good luck to everyone who will be tempted beyond normal today. :) I wish you strength and determination to avoid too much of a down slide. Don't expect perfection but do attempt good enough. Enjoy some relaxation with family and friends, try to find peace if it's a difficult day in any way, and give every one you meet…

PB2/PBfit
I love peanut butter but it's my biggest source of calories some days. Can the PB2 or PBfit be a replacement? Is it as good? Is it filled with @rap? Does anyone here use it instead of regular pb?

Mediterranean Diet
Anyone here do this? I just read an article about how good this way of eating is for the brain. I knew it from reading about it before, but it's hitting me stronger now, as I watch my sister dealing with her dh living with Alzheimer's. Anyways, any advice on eating this way? It sounds very healthy but also higher calorie…

Can I please pick where I want the weight disappearing??
If I could just chop a bit off each thigh and slice a bit off my belly, then glue it all on my b00bs, I'd be a happy gal. :)

Danger! Will Robinson Danger!
If you're a baby boomer, you'll understand the title. :) All to say, yesterday was NOT my best day of the past 6 weeks. I even stopped counting calories by 6 p.m. because I didn't want to know. :( I didn't exercise my full amount either. Argh. I'm stressed about being host today for a potluck dinner and I am NOT a very…

Where's the guy....?
Who ended up walking out of the store because he was very depressed trying to buy clothes? I've been thinking of him but must keep passing the topic whenever I look. :( Hope he checks back in.

How many # until your goal?
From right now, how many # are you away from the weight you want to be? I'd like to lose another 5 before I even think about maintenance. But I've spent my whole life needing to lose lots more, anywhere from 20-100. My mindset tells me I'll always be overweight although I'm not. Maybe that's a good protective tool for…

Clothing styles, choices
Where do you shop for your clothes and what do you find yourself wearing most of the time? I'm 66 and can remember back to when my mom was that age, the clothes she wore. I don't want to wear that style. :) I'm a jeans kinda gal and just do not feel my age but don't want to dress like I'm a teenager either. So I find…

Conquering the flab?
Certain areas of my body do not impress me much. :( My belly and thighs are so jiggly. I'm only looking to lose 5 more # to be at goal and I'm 66. My exercise routine consists of walking. What else can I do to target those areas better? I've only been consistently walking for 5 weeks so maybe more time will tell also. I…

Ok, this really isn't a biggie but....
The past 2 Thursdays I've attended a meeting with my sister. They've been serving yummy looking cookies(one of my biggest downfalls) and pumpkin bread(another yummy love of mine). I used to always take food offered like that but I said no both times and just walked to my chair. To me, that's a success in itself, turning…

Go away Munchies!

Rewarding yourself
How do you reward yourself as you make your progress? Or do you? Is it with food, clothes, activities? Let's face it; we deserve a reward!! This is awfully daMn hard work! I haven't really done a lot of that but tend to think of using indulgent food as a reward but am so afraid of it backfiring. If I treat myself to a…

Your relationship with food
Have you always had a challenge treating food as simply your body's fuel? Even back in your childhood? I can remember being a kid, having to finish everything on my plate, especially if I wanted dessert. And of course I always wanted dessert, it automatically followed a meal. Snacks weren't healthy either, never just…

Last time you eat during the day?
I'm having a really hard time not eating anything after 6 p.m. I usually have a snack of maybe 150 calories before I go to bed. It's still within my allotted number of calories for the day but I have a feeling it's part of the reason for such scale fluctuation. I've found I'm much happier with my scale if I don't eat after…

Whey Protein
I want to try the high protein cheesecake recipe on here but was looking for whey protein on amazon. I don't want to buy a whole container for such a cost for very little use. And the cheapest can I found for around $15-16, says it has 160 cal. per serving? Any advice? Thanks!

Questions for treadmill walkers
I aim for 4 miles a day, 4 mph. But I've found if I do it in 2 shorter times than 1 long walk, I'm more apt to do the whole 4 miles. Does it matter much if you do walking like that, cut into shorter times or should I keep aiming for the 1 longer walk a day? Other questions....do you play much with the speed or incline?…

Do you get support from family and friends?
I'm so happy to have this place now. It's a combination of entering numbers daily and reading what people accomplish/struggle with, etc. It's been a real Godsend for me. I don't have anyone in real life who roots me on or discusses food, exercise, or anything like this place. So just knowing it's here has been helpful in…

Retirees unite?
I retired the end of May. While it's helped with eating healthier in many ways, it's also left me with so much free time I need to fill. Plus my dh moved back in after us living apart for 12 years which has been an adjustment. I've always been an emotional eater; stress makes me run for brownies. And having been a daycare…

My food brain
Ugh, I wake up thinking about food. My whole day revolves around wanting something to eat. I go to bed and automatically want(crave, need)food while I read myself to sleep. How on earth does a body stop thinking about food food food??? I swear 'normal' people don't do this. What makes me different? What makes me need to…

Bathroom scales
I weigh myself a couple times a week. It's getting discouraging because sometimes I've gained a couple pounds for no good reason. I'm not sure how accurate my scale is anymore; I've had it for years. My question to you is, do you have an accurate scale that you'd recommend? Thanks!
