Stronglifts 5x5 question
I'm ready to try this routine after reading all about it, and feeling that it was the right fit for me both professional (police) and sport (hockey). The one question I had after reading the specifics had to do with cardio. On rest days, it recommends staying away from cardio. That's ok for me, but a lot of times I will do…

weight training "warm-ups"
I have been looking at some weight training programs that I'd like to try. One thing I am not too clear on though--many of them feature "warm-up sets" of the exercise to be done. But the instructions never say how much WEIGHT to use on the warm-up sets! What do I do here?

My morning eating routine........good?
Hey all, I'd like to lay out my morning routine and get some feedback. I get up at 5am for work. I leave by 530 and start at 6. In that time I do the shower/shave and get dressed routine. Then I make my lunch. I drink 2 cups of water on the drive. By 615 I've consumed a packet of instant oatmeal, and usually an apple or…

Need help w/ weight-scale issues
Hey all- when I originally weighed myself at the start if my diet, I used my at home digital scale by Taylor. It says in the instructions to weigh yourself nude, and if possible- out of the shower. I've been doing that on a weekly basis and the results show about a 15lb loss so far. However, I got weighed on the old…

Training energy question
I've hired a personal trainer, who has developed a HIT (high intensity training) program. I've done 3 hour long sessions so far, and love the results so far. However, one thing has me a little perplexed: during these training sessions, there have been a couple occasions where I have felt lightheaded, and felt like I was…

Carb questions!!
I'm wondering what convenient foods are good sources of carbs. Reason I'm asking is that I'm on a high-protein diet, with little carbs, and my weight loss has been steady. However, I had a hockey game the other night and felt light-headed quite a few times, and had ZERO energy. It was awful. I looked at my diary for that…

Circuit training-Heavy Lifting?
I have been doing a total-body circuit weight training program for 3 months. It's been helping greatly with weight loss. However, I would like to keep doing the circuit routine, but would like to incorporate heavier weights for strength. My concern is that I won't be burning as many calories with this, thus slowing my…

Bad weekend!!!
So---weighed myself Friday after a very good week of gym time, and clean eating. Scale said I GAINED about a pound!! So I went to the gym that morning, had a good workout, ate a good lunch and played a hockey game that night. Also played hockey Saturday afternoon. BUT- Saturday night I made poor diet choices including…

Frustration!
So I started MFP and dieting the 1st of Jan. Without exercise-just dieting-the weight was melting off! So I began my new sessions of hockey (2-3 times a week) and working out 5 days of week. 3 days of a fat burn weight workout, and 2 days of cardio. Well, the last 2 weeks my weigh-in's have come up with the same…

PIZZA BREASTS???
Hey all-- Well, since I've been dieting and working out with a lot of help from MFP, I've noticed a significant loss around the waist--my "beeer belly". However, what I like to call my "pizza Breasts" or what you may call "moobs" or man boobs---they are still noticable. So my question is this----is diet and exercise going…

What to do on game days??
I have been doing the obvious things for weight loss (diet and exercise) , and recently began a circuit weight training routine. I also play hockey in a men's league about 2 times a week. I'm wondering---on game days, should I still be doing the weight training?? My games start pretty late at night. 840 pm to 1040 pm…

Protein question??
I'm doing a total-body circuit weight training routine. I have been reading that since I'm lifting weights now, I should be taking in a gram of protein per pound of body weight. Yet, MFP has my goal total of 76. Is that also measured in grams? Or should I be taking in double that??

Opinions for an energy-boosting snack
Like a lot of you, I have a busy schedule with work, family and exercise. I work dayshift (6-230pm) and play on a couple of hockey leagues. The problem is, the start times for my games are pretty late at night. They range from 8pm to starting at 1040 pm! My question is this--I take a nap before I go skate. I usually get up…

After-surgery workout?
I'm getting my knee scoped for a torn meniscus next month. I'm already overweight, and even though I've started dieting, I'm afraid that after the surgery my cardio and workout options will be diminished. Any suggestions?

Need advice from weightlifters!!
I've been doing a fat-burning, total body, circuit training routine for about 6 weeks now. Along with nutrition, I'm down about 16 lbs. My question is this---I would like to start a strength training routine. Obviously it will be much different from what I'm doing now. I'm wondering though if I'll be burning a good amount…

Help with some questions
I've really enjoyed this site and have succeeded so far-losing 10 lbs. The caloric counter and healthy eating has helped tremendously. But I've been also hitting the gym 5 days a week, and playing a lot of hockey. My questions are these--I've recently been working out pretty hard, doing a full body circuit routine designed…
