Stronglifts 5x5 question

I'm ready to try this routine after reading all about it, and feeling that it was the right fit for me both professional (police) and sport (hockey). The one question I had after reading the specifics had to do with cardio. On rest days, it recommends staying away from cardio. That's ok for me, but a lot of times I will do the workout at the gym, and have a hockey game that night. I play 2,3, sometimes 4 times a week. Do you think this will have a negative impact on my workouts and recovery? Thanks

I doubt it. I do cardio on my off days and sometimes after I lift (yes I do stronglifts) I haven't found that any of it has hurt my lifting or my other activities. Just make sure you do get a full rest day in there somewhere.

I think with what you are doing that it makes it more important to guard your recovery days as much as possible, get the proper amount of sleep, and really get proper nutrition (plenty of protein for muscle rebuilding all the time and getting a good amount of long chain carbs on your workout/hockey days). Also push the water... I'm talking 21-30 cups a day! I use a modified 5x5 strong lifts (everything in the program plus more). I've been getting great results.

Go play hockey. It's part of a healthy lifestyle. Just don't do it 5 min after your lifting or try to do your lifting right after a hockey game.
