Added weight
Is it even possible to train my way to a 5K PR or even come close to my previous times if I currently weigh 13 pounds more than I did when I acheieved those goals last year? I will continue running anyway, adding in more slow miles and building my way back up, but I am extremely competetive with myself. Do I just need to…

Returning to half marathon training after injury
I injuried myself (high ankle sprain) in August and I did not run for approximately 5 weeks. I ran/walked on on Sunday 2.5 miles (3min walk/3min run per my physical therapist) and it felt ok. So I ran 3 miles yesterday. It was slow and...well bad. I can only describe it as a bad run, but at least I could run. My half…

I have PR on the brain today
Background--I sprained my ankle 3 weeks ago (high ankle sprain)so the half I was supposed to do tomorrow is now the 5K that have to WALK. But for some reason, my mind and body are still in race day mode and all I can think about is getting a PR. Since I can't get it out of my head, and I probably would not have PR'd the 5K…

Adjusting HM Training program
I am in week 2 of training for my next half. Last week, week one, I shortened my long run. The reasons (aka excuses) are not important. I chose to cut the run shorter, it was not due to being tired or due to injury. But it was 5 miles instead of 8 miles. My training plan calls for a 10 mile run this weekend. After a little…

What do you find more rewarding?
I was talking to a friend yesterday about Meb's Boston Marathon win, which also happened to be like a 3 min PR for him. That discussion brought up a question that I posed to my running group. The answers varied, but were for the most part pretty similar. We decided that our answers may very well reflect where we are at in…

Question about Mcmillian Running and training paces
So I entered my last 5K race time, which just happens to be my PR (a PR that I am still not convinced was not a complete fluke...) and the training times it spit out look to be on the crazy side of challenging. I know I am not going to hit those ranges on every run and I am learning how to run based on effort...but am I…

numbness...
Yesterday on my run, my right knee and the outside part of my right foot went numb...kind of...I felt a little pain/ache but mostly it was numb. Now today, my knee aches when bending and the outside part of my foot hurts. Anyone have this happen before? My shoes are not old--i only have about 75 miles on them. I was fitted…

Question about building a proper base...
I plan on starting a 5K training program to increase my speed in about 4 weeks, hopefully to end with a 5K that I would like to PR on. The training plan includes a long run that taps out at 8miles, speedwork (in the form of hills and track), tempos and easy runs. What would be a good base of weekly miles to settle in on…

Running while taking Cipro
Have any runners had any experience taking the antibiotic Cipro while running? I was given a prescription for this on Friday for a stomach bug (the dr. said it "could" be bacterial so he prescribed the antibiotic) and I specifically asked him if I could run on Saturday if I felt better to which he replied "sure, it…

Outside foot pain...
I saw on old post on this (search function) but could not reply because I am not a member of the long distance runners' group. I think I injured myself and I'm not able to get to the doctor before Thursday due to work, kids, etc. I just want to make sure I don't injure myself more before I can get it looked at. I ran 8…

Tempo runs/Speed work (Running)
Can someone direct me to any previous posts about this topic or would anyone be willing to explain these concepts to me. I would like to train for a half marathon in February and I'm guessing I need to be doing these things, but not really sure what they are or how to accomplish this. Right now I do most of my running on…

Thank you to all the runners...
that advised there is no need to stretch prior to or after a run. I can't find the thread, but a few weeks ago several of you advised that this was not necessary especially before a run. I greatly appreciate this advice. I was constantly sore and aching after a run and I thought I wasn't stretching long enough or the right…

30 day shred veterans...
Did any of you that got good results (better cardio, muscle definition, inches lost OR weight lost) use 3 lbs weights? I'm feeling like they are too light for some of the exercises, but I'm scared to go up to 5lbs because I can barely lift the 3lb weights on some of the arm exercise (v lifts are a killer right now in level…

knee issue
I've been jogging on the treadmill and doing 30ds (leg1day5). I have right knee pain. It sounds like rubberbands snapping when I do the knee circles. Anyone experience this? I don't have time for the Dr yet and it's not too bad, just wondering if I just stretched something and if taking a break for a day or two might help.

Only breastfeeding twice a day/toddler
I am currently weaning my daughter who is 13 months old. I nurse her once in the morning and usually 1-2 times at night. The rest of the time she is on whole milk and solid foods. Do I need to be counting any calories toward breastfeeding since I am doing it so little? I looked at the options to add and they look like they…

Jogging with Bronchitis
First let me say that I am NOT an avid runner. When I try to run/jog it is only for a few minutes at a time. I had worked my way up to 5 min intervals of jogging with 2 minutes walking in between for a total of 30 minutes, but then last week I got Bronchitis. It knocked me on my butt for about 5 days. I got on the…
