What about using Apple Watch "Move" calories?
The Apple Watch syncs Workout calories to MFP. And sometimes it syncs a small number of steps calories. But it doesn't automatically sync the "Move" calories from the Watch. That would be convenient, if possible, for two reasons: 1. Workouts drain the battery pretty quickly, making it hard sometimes to get through the day.…

2016 reports
Are we all keeping our new year's resolutions to stay on our diets? It's day 4 for me here in Tokyo, and I've been on my diet all year so far! :) I'm down 1.4 kg (3.1 lb) so far this year, 17.6 kg (38.7 lb) total since starting. I'm trying to reverse a "rebound" that's been going on for over a year now. I'm determined not…

Need to get back on vegan + low calorie again. Advice welcome! Help! Disaster!
Hello everybody. I've slipped and reverted to "the dark side" and would appreciate help getting back. I'm in a bad place right now and want to get back to eating right. A brief recap, though many of you might remember my story. 2012 - I weighed 129 kg and had a heart attack and a stent installed. My blood sugar was through…

In the middle of a regain - five star emergency
I lost 40 kg. I regained 20. I held that steady for 18 months and avoided a complete rebound. Now I've started regaining again so I'm down only 18 kg from where I started. This is a 5 star emergency. Why oh why do I lose my will power after approximately 700 days every time I go through one of these cycles?! I can't live…

Help - partial rebound, blood sugar up, can't get diet under control
Day 1098 here. My blood sugar is way up again as I've regained weight. Three months ago I said I wanted a chance to bring it down myself with diet and no more meds. But I've failed miserably, even with my local doctor giving me a little something extra to control blood sugar in the mornings and evenings. My HbA1c actually…

One month with no weight change :(
This happened in December too, but it's frustrating. All through December my weight hovered between 100.0 and 100.8 kg. I was dying to break the 100 kg barrier by the end of the year. Finally I did in January. Then for a month weight came down pretty quickly. I was only in the 99s for one day, and I rapidly got down to…

And 3rd major milestone - getting under 90 kg
Recently I posted about two major milestones: getting out of the obese BMI range and also getting under 200 lb. Today I broke another major milestone, finally getting under 90 kg. Total weight loss so far is 39.2 kg (86.2 lb). Still more to go, but making progress. My scale this morning:…

Broke plateau, down 85 lb, and two major milestones
After a very trying 5 month plateau, and trying everybody's theories (eat more, eat less, just wait it out) my weight finally started coming off again. I'm now down about 85 lb (since May last year) and as of this morning passed two major milestones: 1. I am under 200 lb at long last! (199.3 to be exact). 2. According to…

Finally broke my 3 month plateau - down 81 lb now
As some of you know, I've been on a 3 month plateau. These last couple of weeks that seems to finally have broken and I rapidly dropped weight every day. I'm now down 36.8 kg (81 lb). What did I do? Well, I didn't change my calorie intake really. My experiment with trying to lower calories, and my experiment with trying to…

2.5 month stall after losing 74 lb - getting depressed
Well, this isn't going well. As mentioned in another post, after losing 74 lb on the Ornish heart-disease reversal diet I went into a plateau starting the beginning of February. I'm stuck between 95 and 96 kg and still have to lose another 20 kg. Technically I'm still in the "obese" range of BMI, though I think I now look…

Week 37 - down 71 lb
As of this morning I've lost 32.4 kg (71 lb). I passed two milestones this week: (1) losing more than 70 lb and, (2) for you British people, that is more than 5 stone (5.1 stone to be exact). doug

Week 35 - down 68 lb - passed 30 kg milestone
This was two good weeks in a row, weight-loss-wise. After losing 1.6 kg last week I thought it might be an aberration, but I continued to lose weight afterwards and since last week have lost another 1.4 kg (3.1 b) for a total loss after 35 weeks of exactly 31 kg (68 lb). While I'm glad to have the weight drop off, after…

Week 34 - down 65 lb and a major milestone
Finally, after 34 weeks I have gotten under 100 kg for the first time. This morning's weight was 99.4 kg, down 1.6 kg (3.5 lb) for the week. Here's a photo of this morning's weigh-in: http://lerner.net/diet/weight-20130111.jpg So I'm finally into two-digits! I've waited for this for a long time! Another milestone is I'm…

About to break thru 100 kg!
This morning I was excited to see a new low on the scale. Exactly 100.0 kg! I'm about to finally get into two-digits! A photo: https://www.dropbox.com/s/7pwvh1o3ubb1gcb/girigiri-s.jpg doug

Frustratingly slow weight loss
My weight has still been frustratingly going up and down, again this week. I was really really really hoping to get under 100 kg by the end of the year. And the other day I was tantalizingly close at 100.4 kg. But then my weight over the last few days went up to 100.6, then 100.8 and this morning it's 101.0. So I don't…

Week 31 - down 63 lb so far
This is week 31 of my diet. This week I lost 0.6 kg (1.3 lb). I've lost 28.6 kg (63 lb) so far. My bicycle exercises are almost entirely indoors these days because of the cold weather. And onward... doug

Weight gain this week :(
Well, disappointing. I actually had a weight gain of 0.6 kg (1.3 lb) this week putting me exactly back where I was two weeks ago. :( Total weight loss so far is 58.5 lb. I have no explanation for it. I've been sticking with my diet and exercise every day. I'll try not to be depressed and carry on.

Week 30 - down 61.6 lb - getting near major milestone
My weight has been fluctuating the last few weeks, but it is coming down slowly. This week was actually a good week - I lost 1.0 kg (2.2 lb) bring my total weight loss after 30 weeks to exactly 28 kg (61.6 lb). I am oh so close to getting into two-digits I can't stand the suspense. This morning's weight was exactly 101 kg.…

Week 27 - down a total of 60 lb
I lost 0.6 kg (1.3 lb) this week, bringing my total weight loss to 27.2 kg (almost exactly 60 lb). Exercise was as usual - cycling when weather permits. I had to start wearing a wool sweater for cycling though, since it has gotten colder. And I've been continuing my daily indoor resistance exercises and light calisthenics.…

Week 26 - total weight loss 58.5 lb so far
This was a good week. With diet and exercise I lost 1.0 kg (2.2 lb) bringing my total weight loss to 26.6 kg (58.5 lb). Still a ways to go though! But feeling very energetic. doug

Week 25 diet report - down 56 lb
I lost 0.4 kg (0.9 lb) this past week. I was pleased, considering the much larger loss last week. This brings my total weight loss to 25.6 kg (56.3 lb) so far. And I've continued my almost daily bicycle runs and daily indoor resistance training. doug

Week 24 - down more than 25 kg (more than 55 lb)!
Week 24 diet report – 25 kg and 55 lb milestones! This was another good week, after a few “so-so” weeks. It’s also been particularly good weather for cycling in the afternoon. And I’ve been continuing my resistance training indoors. This week I lost 1.6 kg (3.5 lb). That brings my total weight loss to 25.2 kg – passing the…
-
Week 22 - down 52 lb
I lost 0.6 kg (1.3 lb) this week, thus more than making up for my 0.2 kg gain last week. This makes my total weight loss 23.6 kg (52 lb) in 22 weeks. That is an average of 1.07 kg (2.35 lb) per week since starting. On a down note, I actually briefly hit this weight 13 days ago before going up and down, so I feel a bit like…

Weight up the last 12 days - frustrated
Although I've generally been doing great (lost over 50 lb the last 23 weeks) I have to admit to being frustrated the last couple of weeks. My weight in kg is actually higher than it was 12 days ago. 10/5/2012 105.8 10/6/2012 105.4 10/7/2012 105.4 10/8/2012 105.4 10/9/2012 105.8 10/10/2012 106.2 10/11/2012 106.2…

Week 20 - major milestone - more than 50 lb lost!
I could tell all week this was going to be an exceptionally good weigh-in because my daily weigh-ins were showing a noticeable weight loss each day. I don't know why though. I can't think of anything in particular I was doing differently. Maybe it's because the last few weeks were just "so so" losses and my body switched…

I think I'm starting to look almost human :)
I uploaded this new photo to FaceBook after getting a haircut today. https://www.dropbox.com/s/oos5hgwr3n2ormk/me2-20121004.jpg A friend said, "I look 10 years younger." I asked him, "10 years younger than what?" :) I think I'm one of those people who are obese but don't really have a fat face. Fortunately my stomach is…
