Not able to handle a cheat day - someone help me relax...
I've been watching what I eat and counting calories religiously for just over three months now. I don't usually have 'cheat days' and I have an occasional 'cheat meal' for which I save calories for & generally that cheat meal is something more indulgent in a restaurant or just plain nachos with home made salsa (not that…

Always a gain after hitting a new low on the scale?
I've noticed a re-occuring theme. I'll hit a new low on the scale, and after that I'll be a kilo or more up from that low for a while, with no changes in my diet or exercise. Why do I not see my weight gradually go down? Why is it always in jumps?

Overnight 1kg gain that takes a week to lose again?
I gained 1kg overnight the other day. I had an off-week because I had a bad cold but I was in my calories. Consistently lost a kilogram over the course of the week. One night had quite some salty nachos because I was sick and sad. They were in my calories. Got up the next morning, I was exactly 1kg up from what I had…

The number on the scale won't change.
Hi everybody, I'm in need of some help. The first 7kgs I lost, went quite smoothly - anywhere from 0.5kg-1kg a week. I work out at least four times a week combining both cardio and weights. I eat well, usually around 1,300cals a day and I drink at least 8 cups of water. I don't eat junk, no sweets and no sugary drinks. For…

Meal-replacement shakes?
On some days when I'm busy and distracted, I find that I might be lacking 200-500 calories from my daily budget. A friend of mine at the gym suggested drinking meal-replacement shakes (i.e the one from PhD woman or similar) after a work out or at the end of the day. The reason for this is because I'm not hungry, even if…

Getting started with free weights by myself?
After Christmas break from university, I would like to get started with lifting free weights at the gym. The reason why I don't want to start now is because I'll be away from the gym for 2-3 weeks in a couple of weeks and I probably won't have access to any weights or a gym at all during that time. Anyway, one personal…

Normal to have slower weightloss weeks?
Hi all, I've noticed that this week I've barely lost any weight, despite still eating within my calories and working out as usual. Foodstuffs have been no different than usual. Is it normal to have a slow week every now and then? I've noticed this happen once or twice before in the last two-three months that I've been…

Weight lifting calories?
I use a Polar FT40 HRM to count my exercise calories. I generally time my weightlifting sessions as well, separate from my cardio. I started thinking though, is it accurate to measure calories with a HRM whilst lifting weights? Should I be noting these calories down in my exercises. I never eat back any of these calories…

Proper ab workout?
Hi all, I've been getting more and more into weight lifting to strengthen myself, however, I've noticed that whilst I feel sore all over the day after, my abs never do. What are some effective exercises I can do at home on my yoga mat to strengthen my abs so I can really feel the workout the day after? Today I decided to…

Struggling to lose weight.
I started my fitness plan about a month and a half ago. The first 3kgs (~6lbs) came off easy and now I've been struggling for at least two weeks, if not more to keep my weight loss above 5kgs (~11lbs). I am not losing that 1kg/2lbs a week for sure. I eat clean, I am in my calories. Minimal carbs and artificial sugar. I…

How to get started with the treadmill?
Hi all, I've started dieting and exercising properly about three weeks ago. At the gym I usually do weights and use the elliptical, step machine or exercise bike. I would like to start using the treadmill but the last time I tried I was already quite exhausted after 5 minutes of jogging at a moderate speed. Are there any…

Making a (healthy) meal plan?
Hi everybody, I'm aiming to eat about 1200-1300 calories a day, hoping to lose 45lbs within a reasonable amount of time (I aim to work out four times a week). I'm just a bit clueless how I can plan my day's meals so they're healthy, but filling enough. For breakfast I either have oatmeal, yoghurt or some cottage cheese.…
