1/17 How do you get enough fiber?
I followed the paleo plan pretty strictly in the fall and I did start to lose some pounds but I found my digestive system could not handle it. I am much more regular when I have oatmeal a few days a week and beans as well. I always eat a lot of vegetables at lunch and dinner. I am not eating many grains now but am…

12/8 Excellent article in tennis magazine about nutrition
Surprisingly though it doesn't even mention gluten as anyone who follows tennis knows that Novak Djokovic became gluten free before his stellar 2011 season and there is a lot of evidence about increasing gluten sensitivity and its impact on inflammation. Still a very well written article with a lot of good information!…

Exercise should be about rewarding your body with endorphins and strength, not punshing your body for what you've eaten.

ISO meatball recipe with apricot sauce
I know I saw it on a website/blog that I think was paleo. It gave instructions for meatballs w/out breadcrumbs and then a sauce with 100% fruit apricot jam, low sodium soy sauce and one other ingredient for the sauce. I cannot find it now and want to make them for a Thanksgiving appetizer! Has anyone seen this? Or do you…

10% reduction in body fat!
I belong to a gym that has a few programs during the year where they do weigh-ints. At the beginning of the year I did an 8 week program in which I lost 13.7 pounds and 3% of my body fat. It ended March 8. Today I went to weigh in for the hold it for the holidays challenge and I was 5 pounds less on that scale than I was…

what to do with left over roast?
I made a 3 pound roast beef the other night which we ate for dinner and I ate for lunch twice all ready! But I think it will be dinner tonight. Does anyone have any ideas for something I can make with it to make it more interesting? It is a bit dry now :-( I am thinking casserole or soup but most of those types of recipes…

Crustless Quiche - good for paleo or low carb dieters

ISO clean eating substitute for Uncle Ben's Wild Rice mixes
My family loves this stuff but I am trying really hard to avoid GMO's and autolyzed yeast extract and other not so "clean eaitng" food additives. Pants for "thick waisted" women
So I did some cleaning of my basement today which is a dreadful chore because we have so much stuff. I probably had three Rubbermaid bins full of pants I have saved in case I lose weight. Well I have lost some so I tried on a lot of pairs of pants today. I decided to get rid of almost 2 bins full because they are high…

Good article in Cooking Light April issue about calories
Referencing once again the infamous Twinkie Diet, RD Janet Helms cites a study that says people who eat real food actually burn more calories just by eating. Makes sense. If a factory processes your food, your body is doing less work. Here's a reference I found.…

It would be cool if there were a calculator to tell you what
For instance with food I have eaten and planned I have 505 calories left, 5 grams carb, 14 grams fat and 65 grams protein. Other than meat (which I wasn't planning on today) or a protein shake I honestly don't know what to eat. I haven't bought protein powder because I haven't found the perfect one - I don't use artificial…
