No wonder I'm confused!
Keto is good.....keto is bad....do low sugar, no sugar. High fat, no carbs. Weights vs. cardio. No wonder I'm so confused. Please tell me the best basic weight loss equation is still less calories in, more calories expended, regardless of these fads! I eat more protein, less carbs (no bread or potatoes), lots of meat and…

SCARED to gain
I figure this would be the best place to post and read until my eyeballs cross. I am 57. 5'5" and have gone from 215 to 142 in a year. This is the 2nd time I've lost alot of weight--in 2013 I lost 88 lbs but gained 63 back. I'm in a smaller size than I was the first time--from an 18 to an 8! Here's the thing.....I'm SCARED…

Serious Craving Issues need to STOP
Hi all, I need serious advise about stopping cravings in the afternoon. I sit at a desk job all day, and try to get up and move alot. I've lost 73 lbs in a year. I have no issues in the morning, but come afternoon I can smell the fritos that are begging me to eat them! The cravings for carbs get pretty intense and I always…

Second timer here
Hi all, I was here back in 2012 and ended up losing 83 lbs (from 238 down to 155) and felt great! It was my 50th birthday present to myself. Wellll, after menopause, that all changed. I'm now 56 and back to being committed more than ever. I never put all the weight back on (kept 22 lbs off) and now have lost 31 lbs, with…

Seriously in need of motivation to get back on my wagon!
My story in a nutshell: From July of 2012 to June of 2013 I lost 80 lbs. Worked out every day and even started jogging. I was laid off for half of that year. I got a job in August and it's physical (I work in shipping). I come home exhausted. My willpower totally disappeared, and it seems as though I can't get enough of…

frozen shrimp and sodium content
I bought some frozen shrimp to make fajitas with today. The bag tells me 12 shrimp has 1040 mg of sodium! I've tried finding the answer to this but can't-does rinsing the shrimp before cooking lower the sodium content at all? Thanks!

Steroid-free?
Some family members got into a discussion yesterday about eating chicken and beef with vs. without steroids and antibiotics. It makes total sense to me that we would gain weight from foods injected with steroids. Has anyone started eating this way? I'm in Ohio and not even sure where to find these kinds of foods. I would…

80 lbs in 11 months--who woulda thought?
I am 51 years old, and for the first time in my life I am on a journey, not a diet. For the last time, I started a new journey 11 months ago today. I am now down from 238 to 158, with 8 more lbs. to go. I look at this pic and I am speechless. I will NEVER EVER see this old Cindy again!

Exercise is wasting our time???
Another study came out suggesting that exercise is ONLY effective for people maintaining weight. It isn't beneficial for people trying to LOSE weight: "Very simply, it appears that exercise lowers metabolism, and it does so to such a degree that it almost exactly compensates for calories burned during exercise. In other…

Trouble with FT4 HRM
For the last 3 days, I've had trouble with my Polar FT4. It'll be working great, then all of a sudden my heart rate will show 190 or above, then 00. I adjust the band etc. It'll finally work again, then do the same thing. It's maybe 6 months old and has been fine. Has this happened to anyone else? Is this a battery issue??

READ this blurb from a news article!
4. Exercise does not burn off pounds TRUE: It's hard to believe, but in a study of 411 women, those who worked out for over one, two, or three hours a week for six months didn't lose significantly more weight than those who'd devoted themselves to Sudoku or other sedentary pursuits. You'd think this finding was a fluke,…

Menopause and belly fat :(
I am a 51 year old female that is going thru menopause. I've lost 70 lbs in the last 9 months. However, the first place I used to lose weight in my younger days was in my belly area, especially under my ribcage. It's not the case now. I'm losing much more in my hips/butt. I work out at least 5 days a week, on the…

carbs and diabetes question
I'm asking this for my mom--does anyone know how long carbs remain in your system to register in your blood sugar? For instance, she had spaghetti for dinner last night and a cup of coffee and a mini bagel for breakfast this morning. Her blood sugar 3 hrs after breakfast was registering 210. She is not very active in the…

Weight training question
I'm really getting into some weight training-it's been about a month for me now. Is it imperative to only work 1 or 2 muscle groups each day, or is it ok to do several at a time--kinda like a 30 day shred thing with Jillian where several groups are worked?

Cardio and resistance = confusion!
I need some clarification on this. I usually do 30 min of cardio, then move on to weight training. I've been reading alot about this, and am seeing so many conflicting opinions from the 'experts': One expert says to do cardio first, then do resistance/weights afterwards because you'll be loosened up better. They claim…

Water temperature debate
I'd like to hear thoughts on this....I drink at least a gallon of water at work alone.....I like ice water. I've heard people say ice water shocks your system, so it's better to drink lukewarm water. Others say to drink ice water because the cold makes your metabolism work harder to warm your insides. Does anyone really…

Excessive water weight
I have a friend who is eating healthy-eating low cal, but somedays a bit over on the sodium (NOT everyday, and not to excess at all). Drinking usually 14 bottles of water a day.
