Before and after
Meet Nacho, he's 13 years old and had been overweight most of his adult life. As a kitten, Nacho was a scrawny fella. Through laziness and overeating, Nacho grew to an obese 18 pound adult cat He was sooo uncomfortable Ready for a change, he started restricting his calories, he did not like this he also got plenty of water…

failing OHP and fractional weights
Hi, Yesterday I did my 12th session of SL5X5, so I'm still fairly new. During this session I experienced my first failed rep (so disappointing). It happened in my 3rd set of OHP using 65 pounds. The ones I did complete were very difficult and I almost peed my pants with the effort. I'm wondering if the 5 pound increase…

Switching gyms and programs
Since January (I think, I've lost count) I've been (sort of) doing NROLFW as best I can with what Planet Fitness has to offer as far as equipment. That is, stupid Smith Machines. SOOO, after much reading in forums and checking around town, I've decided I'd be better off at a different gym that is less new and clean, but…

Just a Suggestion
I think it would be very helpful to all the newbies to have thread with a sticky, explaining ALL the acronyms related to weightlifting. Every now and then I run across one that I just don't get. Like today I saw: OLY and PR. What does that mean? And while we're at it, what are "cleans"? I have still have SO MUCH to learn.…

quick question about delayed muscle sorness
I was told I should work out every other day in order to give my muscles time to recover between workouts. Well, It's usually the day I'm scheduled back to the gym that I most feel the pain from my previous workout. So, should I skip 2 days instead?

Substitue Exercises?
I've already posted this to a group that I am part of but I'm posting it here as well: I just started the NROLFW yesterday. I think I'm going to like it. The free-weights area was intimidating and I almost cried from the anxiety when I first got there, but the guys were very nice and even helpful. So that's one hurdle…

substitute exercises
I just started the NROLFW yesterday. I think I'm going to like it. The free-weights area was intimidating and I almost cried from the anxiety when I first got there, but the guys were very nice and even helpful. So that's one hurdle down, conquering fear. My only issue now is one of the exercises in this phase requires a…

New and clueless
HI, I just joined your group today. I am no where near as advanced as the people in most of the threads I've read here so maybe I don't belong, but... I would love some input on what I should be doing. My goal is really to just be healthy and comfortable with my appearance. Not wanting to look like a body builder nor do I…

Poisoned Halloween Candy- Real or Urban Legend
It's good to be cautious but I think people have gotten a bit paranoid. Of course I've always checked my child's candy for tampering but I always thought it was highly unlikely that I'd ever find anything. It's a shame this fear has gotten so out of hand because homemade Halloween goodies were the best (when I was growing…

Quick question regarding calories alotted
Quick Question: I currently weigh 158. If the military BRM calculator says I would need 1550 to maintain my 'goal' weight of 127 pounds, should I be eating THAT instead of the mere 1200 MFP allows me? Am I starving myself?

Obnoxious Advertising
I guess I'm not part of the demographic that the majority of advertisements are targeting. I've NEVER felt compelled to purchase a product from a company that irritates the crap out of me and that's exactly what MOST commercials do. Do yelling and loud, obnoxious sound affects really work? There is a car company here that…

I'm not getting any younger
HI, Today is my third day with My Fitness Pal so I thought I'd introduce myself. My name is Julia, I'm 41 and 160-163 pounds. It seems no matter what I do, I fluctuate between the same 3 pounds. It's really starting to annoy me. I've told my daughter I'd live to be hundred, but at this weight and only 5 feet tall, I don't…
