My first 10k :-)
Well I did it! I did it very slowly, and my foot has now disowned me, but I still did it! :-D

What is your resting heart rate?
Since getting my Charge HR, I'm fascinated by the topic of resting heart rate. I was surprised to find my resting heart rate is so low, around 62bpm. I had a minor flurry of panic, thinking I had heart disease but relaxed when I saw I had none of the symptoms of pathological bradycardia - most importantly, my heart rate…

My swim was frustrating today because...
I felt the need to have a venting thread today, and I wondered if anyone else would enjoy having the occasional vent about their swimming experience? For reasons I can only guess at, the pool decided to rope off one third of the width, and then not use it in any way at all. This then made all the lanes that bit thinner,…

It's like I'm an opportunist food obsessive.
People have all kinds of different reasons for eating. I never really related when people said they were a comfort eater, so I always wondered what my issue was. I've noticed that I always eat the most out of anybody in the room. Like, I can rationalise it and say 'well (x) had two helpings' and '(y) had dessert too' - but…

Anyone else just starting out?
I'm super impressed by some of the weights the ladies here can lift, but I'm not at that point yet (and won't be for a while!) I wondered if there was anyone else just starting out and, if so, what they were lifting and how it went?

Men's schedule or women's?
On the website, it says to progress 2.5kg each time you workout, but later on it says for women to add 1lb each time instead. I'm curious whether the ladies here follow that advice or go up 2.5kg each time?

Shirataki Noodles - zero calories!!!
Okay so probably most of you already know about these amazing noodles and I'm just the last person to hear about them because I never watch TV... But still, if I can let one person know about this unbelievable food, then my work here is done. Shirataki noodles are made from some icky fibre stuff that you probably don't…

Bike Ride in London over next two weeks?
Hello fellow Brits, I was wondering if anyone wanted to meet up for a social bike ride in London sometime over the next couple of weeks? I am not the fastest cyclist in the world, so Tour de France is not really for me! But I hear there are some good cycle routes through London these days and it'd be nice to give them a…

Fitbit Charge HR - not logging workouts
In the last few days I've noticed that if I use the timer to record a period of activity, it doesn't always show up on the dashboard. It seems to log the bigger workout events, but the smaller ones just don't show up at all. Is fitbit picking and choosing which of my workouts to show on the dashboard, or am I doing…

Fitbit overestimating miles?
I planned a route on google maps that was 10k but when I ran it and checked into my dashboard, my fitbit charge HR thinks it was 14.5k. I logged it on my running app and it said 10.5k. Has anyone else noticed their charge overestimates miles? I wonder if it's because I'm short, my stride is quite small, so if it's…

What are your strengths and weaknesses?
I realised the other day that my husband has much better self-control when it comes to food. If there is cake in the house, I will eat it. It will literally obsess my mind until it is gone. Whereas my husband can buy chocolate and then simply ignore it for days, weeks, months, etc... However, if I am on a day off, I will…

Charge HR and Swimming
I took my Charge HR off for swimming and wore my regular heart strap and monitor. When I synced it later, it had put me as asleep for the time that I wasn't wearing it, and calculated that I'd burned 200 calories. I deleted this and manually added my swimming session. I just wondered, am I doing it right? Should I be…

Ergonomic Ladies Saddle
Hi everyone, Tragically, my ergogel saddle has split and has gel oozing out, so it is time to find a new ergonomic saddle. Does anyone have any recommendations of saddles they particularly adore? It would need to be either flat or with a dent down the middle, and fairly wide for my fat derrier! :-P

NSV - belt too big!
Today I went to put on my favourite red mac and went to tighten the belt, only to discover that I'd gone past the smallest hole on the belt! Guess I'd better start tying it in the future!

What derailed you?
And what do you wish you'd done differently? Back in 2009, I was the thinnest I've ever been; I felt great, I looked fantastic, I loved shopping for cool, sexy, funky clothes that actually looked good on me. So what went wrong? I switched my highly active lifestyle - manual job, cycling everywhere - for sitting at home to…

NSV - I ran a mile outside for the very first time!
After a couple of years on my beloved treadmill, I was becoming obsessed with the idea of running a mile outside. I plotted a loop around my house and picked a time when it would be quiet with few people around. I am still very heavy and I have never *NEVER* been able to run anywhere except on my treadmill. I'd get…

Confusing Sodium Measurement Units on MFP?
I recently started tracking my sodium, thinking it couldn't hurt to improve that aspect of my diet and I've discovered that a great many of the foods listed on MFP have the sodium incorrectly entered. Imo, this is because MFP chooses to list it by MGs, whereas food (in the UK at least) contains the sodium in Gs. This seems…

Plus Size Running Shorts?
With me starting to do runs of up to 50 minutes inside my very warm flat, I'm finding that my trusty cotton leggings are too hot and sweaty, and the inside of my legs are getting sore and irritated. There's a wealth of plus size running shorts available in the USA, but very little that I can find available in the UK. (I'll…
