calorie intake for a 13 year old boy trying to gain?
My nephew is trying to build muscle, he's naturally pretty slim and lanky and my husband and I are taking him to the gym with us to work out but I want to make sure he's eating enough. All of my experience is with gaining muscle while losing fat, he has no fat to lose! Anyone have a good ballpark calorie intake for a 13…

Liquid diet :/
Sooooo I'm going to get some wisdom teeth yanked out (2, one impacted) and will be off solid food for at least a few days. Any ideas for what I can eat? Other than smoothies? (I lived on smoothies when I got my first wisdom tooth pulled, gets old after awhile!!)

20 pounds down, almost halfway there! (pics)
So my weight loss journey started about ten years ago and through a series of fad diets, miracle pills and bouts with borderline anorexia & fasts followed by binging I went from an out of shape 135 to a VERY out of shape 189. Possibly even higher. I have attempted atkins, south beach, windsor pilates, the ab roller, that…

So I'm on a liquid diet from getting wisdom teeth removed and desperately needed some variety! My breakfast for the last two days has been carrot sweet potato pie smoothies: 1/2 cup cooked mashed sweet potato (I made it with a combo of carrots and sweet potato... Mostly cause I needed to use up some carrots that I forgot…

I have a friend who wants to start eating better, she has around 100lbs to lose. Her last diet was Atkins (see weight yet to lose for how well that worked out!) during which her favorite snack was tomato slices spread with mayo (shudder) she LOVES mayo and while I know in moderation its not bad, she needs to learn the…

Oatmeal: old fashioned vs. quick cook
Ok I understand that on the scale of types instant oats are the worst because they have flavors (and therefore added calories, fat & sodium) and steelcut oats are the best, most unprocessed and all that jazz but they take too long to cook for me. I'm awful about making a bunch in advance and reheating it so I prefer to…
