Anyone getting virus warnings from the Googleleads ads?
For the past two days my Kaspersky has been throwing virus warnings up from the Googleleads ads over on the right. Never had this problem before. Anyone else experiencing it?

Omega 3 Supplements no good?
I've always been an advocate of getting nutrients from real food instead of pills. Here's an article from Time magazine this morning: http://healthland.time.com/2012/04/10/fish-oil-for-heart-attack-prevention-is-it-a-myth/ A new study finds that omega-3 fatty acids don't help patients with heart disease avoid future…

Medication nsv :)
Just got back from my yearly physical. The doc is so happy with my numbers she's taken me off statin and off the diuretic. She said if I keep on this track I should be able to halve my metformin within 6 months and by this time next year I should be able to come off diabetes and blood pressure meds altogether. I've been…

Lighter Buffalo Chicken.
I was craving buffalo chicken this evening, so I ad-libbed, and surprisingly it was successful. Fair warning, there's a ton of sodium in Frank's hot sauce so this is not for sodium sensitives or those trying to manage fluid retention. 4tbsp Franks Hot Sauce 2tbsp fat free sour cream 1tbsp white vinegar dash onion powder…

Nike Fuel Band
A friend from out of town dropped by over the weekend and he had a Nike Fuel Band. He gave us a brief demo and I have to say it looked pretty sweet. Has anyone used one of these? How does it stack up to Fitbit or BMF?

Help! I need sneaky ways to get my veggies.
I've finally worked up to eating three different pieces of fruit a day but I have a problem with veggies. Actually it's more than a problem... I can't freakin, stand them. Never have. I think I was possibly birthed with a genetic aversion to them. :-) Lettuce I can stomach... if it's on a sandwich covered in enough other…

Canning and Jarring...
I really want to start making and storing more of my own foods, especially things like spaghetti sauces and curries, mostly so I can control sodium and preservatives contents, but I really don't know where to start learning about canning, jarring, freezing etc. Do any of you guys have any good tips or links to online…

Workout and recovery times for Fibromylagia sufferers?
I understand that after strength training some delayed onset muscle soreness for 1-3 days is normal for regular folk as the muscle recovers and rebuilds the microscopic tears created by the exercise. From what I'm reading normal folks should continue exercising through this period, but perhaps with milder cardio or light…

Almond Milk - Goitrogenic and Carcinogenic?
Anyone got any input on this? I just tried almond milk for the first time and kind of fell in love with how delicious it is (I tried it because regular milk seems to give me upset stomachs... I'm probably mildly lactose intolerant). But on reading up a bit I found indications that it's goitrogenic and that certain brands…

For those who hate math...
Some of us like all that mathematical gobbledigook about BMR, TDEE and such, but it occured to me that some people really probably just get turned off by it. I know I spent the better portion of my school years hearing circus music every time the math teacher opened her mouth. So I wanted to describe another way to think…

Michael Pollan's 'In Defense of Food'
I just started reading this last night and I'm already halfway through it. I couldn't put it down. So far it seems like a very convincing attack on nutritionism and also a sort of lament on the human tendency to lock too hard onto certain bits of data to the exclusion of all other possibilities, often with devastating…

Climbing as the ultimate form of exercise...
This is a thought I had earlier today. I attended a group at a climbing center and spent a while watching the folks going up and down the wall. It occurred to me that climbing must be an unbelievably well-rounded form of workout. Not only are you getting great cardio and strength training all in one - as you might in other…

More affordable audiobook options than audible?
I realized that with my increased gym time I could probably get through a ton of those novels I've been meaning to read if I got access to them as audio files. I just checked out audible.com but holy hell that's pricey. 1 book a month for $15! Anyone know any similar resources that are perhaps a bit more affordable? (legal…

Anyone ever own or run a public establishment?
My wife and I have a dream to own or run a local community theater. We're taking our first faltering steps towards it but there are so many questions. Please clue me in on protein powder
I adjusted my MFP protein goal based on Stroutman81's great article (http://body-improvements.com/resources/eat/). He suggests 1g of protein for each lb of GOAL weight per day. Which in my case would be 165g of protein per day. This is way higher than what mfp originally had me set at and despite eating eggs, veggies and…
