Workout and recovery times for Fibromylagia sufferers?

I understand that after strength training some delayed onset muscle soreness for 1-3 days is normal for regular folk as the muscle recovers and rebuilds the microscopic tears created by the exercise.

From what I'm reading normal folks should continue exercising through this period, but perhaps with milder cardio or light aerobic stuff, treadmill, swimming, etc.

My question is for any sufferers of Fibromyalgia out there who have created successful workout routines for themselves (or to any pro trainers with experience of the condition).

Should workouts and recovery times be altered in any way for Fibro sufferers? (i.e. to avoid flare ups etc.?) or should they follow the same exercise recommendations as for normal healthy people?

Also if you have fibro I would love to hear about your success stories... thanks!

I have fibromyalgia; but mine is pretty well managed.

However, I typically continue to exercise through soreness. I can generally tell the difference betwen "workout pain" and "fibro pain." I work though workout pain; I rest fibro pain.

Just read this and I too am trying to figure out how to manage fibro and exercise. I have been exercising about 5 x a week (aerobic and strength) BUT the pain is getting quite a bit worse. I also do yoga stretching which helps.......but I need help on how to do this as without the exercise I will not be able to lose. Help!!
