More affordable audiobook options than audible?

I realized that with my increased gym time I could probably get through a ton of those novels I've been meaning to read if I got access to them as audio files. I just checked out audible.com but holy hell that's pricey. 1 book a month for $15!

Anyone know any similar resources that are perhaps a bit more affordable? (legal only please, I'm not a fan of torrents)

Check with your library. The library system here lets you "borrow" audio books. They can only lend out so many "copies" at a time but have tons of titles to choose from. The program our library system uses works with ipods, iphone, and most mp3 players.

    Worth looking into

    and best of all...it's free!

Oh and i forgot to mention, it's all online, so you don't actually have to GO to the library

The Gutenberg Project has free ones - the public domain titles. Read by volunteers, but I've listend to a few and they're OK

I get mine from the library. You check them out from home with your library card and transfer them to your mp3 player - no need to get off your rear!
