Anyone ever own or run a public establishment?

My wife and I have a dream to own or run a local community theater. We're taking our first faltering steps towards it but there are so many questions.

Has anyone here ever owned or run a public establishment? Bar, restaurant, theater, gallery, shop, etc... who would be willing to friend me or msg me and give me some tips and advice?

Much thanks! :drinker:

Sounds fantastic! I haven't, but I wish you all the luck! I'm currently the Operations Director for a non-profit service organization, so it's not the same, but if you ever need ideas, let me know.

Local networking- in my younger days I worked in 3 locally owned restaurants, 2 of which I helped open. All 3 are still doing well, and I noticed that they all make sure to keep up with their customers on a personal level. Always being interested in their families, jobs, and other endeavors. It creates a bond with that person that makes them want to frequent your establishment. It;s almost like they owe it to you, since you took the time to care about them, they must return the favor. I bartended and managed at all 3 locations, and I still benefit from the relationships I built while there. Once you build a good local customer base, it will start to work for you.
