Achey knees
So I've been at this for...oh, a month and a half or so. And I've noticed that the tops of my knees (kinda at the top/behind my kneecap) are slightly achey. I'm not in pain, they don't hurt, they're not sore, just....a slight ache, especially when they are bent (I have a propensity for sitting indian style. Has anyone else…

30 Day Slimdown
So I recently finished Jillian's 30 day shred and....honestly, was a little disappointed. Between the diet and the exercise, I lost a few lbs, and about an inch, but based on everyone's rave reviews, I honestly was hoping for more. And I think the loss was due more to diet than exercise. That being said, I do really like…

My thighs no longer touch!!!!
Ok, so granted, it's by like a millimeter, and possibly less than that. BUT, they no longer touch when I stand straight! I know it's not a huge deal, but I'm SO excited!!!!! No more rubbing holes in my pants, lol!!!! (well, my pants will still touch for awhile I guess, but my thighs don't!). So excited!

How?
Ok, so I'm confused. In theory, MFP sets us at a deficit naturally, so that even not exercising you should still lose weight, right? So how, if I am exercising and not eating over my calories, do I gain weight? I mean, I know there are alot of factors, like water, etc, but it still doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

Shred and weights
Ok, so I know alot of workout videos/programs use weights. Is that factored in on MFP? For example, when I do the 30 Day Shred, I do it with 5 lb weights. Does this matter? Do I burn more calories with heavier weights? Or is it assumed that that is part of the 'circuit training' (which is what I log it as)?

HIIT
I see alot of posts about HIIT and how great it is and everything. Can someone explain to me what it is (and how to do it?)? I'd really appreciate it!

Getting used to food
So I was reading about calorie cycling, and one of the things I read was that your body can get used to food and metabolize it less effectively (kind of like it gets used to exercise--you have to switch it up sometimes). I was just wondering if anyone knew if there was any truth to this (and, if so, what that truth is)?

Insulin
So I'm type 1 diabetic (the one not caused by sugar and obesity) and therefore insulin dependent. I've noticed that since I started this journey, even my baseline sugar levels have been sort of all over the place. For example: This morning my sugar was 152. I did my baseline insulin (lantus). I then had my fiber one…

I was bad
So this weekend I had friends in town and skipped my workout for 3 days. I had planned on one of them being a rest day, but the others I just slacked on (the fondue we made probably didn't help either...) I went back and did 30 Day Shred (my regular) and the Banish Fat Boost Metabolism that I have started doing in addition…

Potassium
So I learned yesterday that potassium helps with sodium. I know there are some foods that naturally contain it, but I was wondering about supplements. Do they work? And, if they do, what kind? They have a variety of kinds of potassium, such as potassium gluconate, potassium citrate, potassium iodide, etc. What kind is best?

Skin
So I've generally always had pretty good skin--the occasional blemish here and there, but nothing too bad. Now that I've started eating well (or, better, I should say, lol), drinking a ton of water and exercising, all of a sudden my skin is terrible--blemishy and blotchy and such. Everyone said my skin should get better…

Calorie Cycling
Ok, so I posted this question last night, and got lots of 'I'd like to know more too' and 'bumps' but very few actual answers. It seemed like a lot of people are interested, so I'm reposting in the hopes that more people are on this site at work than they are at night at home :) . I have a couple questions about calorie…

Calorie Cycling
Hey guys, I have a couple questions about calorie cycling. People talk alot about it on here, and I was thinking of trying it. So: 1. How often do you cycle? Is it a week high, week low? One day high, one day low? One day high, two days low, one day high? How does that work? 2. How do exercise calories factor in? Do you…

JM's Banish Fat Boost Metabolism
Just finished this (may die, in which case this question is irrelevant). But if I don't die, how would I log this? Circuit training? Aerobics?

Foot twinges?
So during my workout today (level 3 of 30 day shred, day 3), I all of a sudden during the mountain climbers started getting what felt like twinges or spasms in both feet--kind of a cross between a 'my foot fell asleep' feeling and a spasm, I guess would be the best way to describe it. An hour later, they still have a tiny…

The devil wears a sports bra
Ohmygod. I don't know how many of you have done this, but I just started level 3 of Jillian's 30 day shred today. You know how in level 2, where she says "I want you guys to feel as though you're going to die"? Well in level 3, I think she is actually trying to literally kill me. My thighs have been burning for like 30…

Diabetes and Thyroid disorder
Ok, so I've seen a couple of really helpful posts recently regarding eating enough calories, starvation mode, initially gaining weight (and why we shouldn't freak out about it) etc, which were all awesome. However, these have been posted with the caveat that they are not for people with thyroid disorders or diabetes. I am…

Inconsistent calorie goals
Another member on here told me about livestrong.com as another place to find food calories/calories burned during exercises. They told me I should only be eating 1088 calories/day (before exercise). I'm curious about this whole 'going below 1200 calories will put you into starvation mode' thing, b/c they don't seem to…

Too much water?
So last week I was all depressed about my backwards non-progress and some of the wonderful and supportive people on here said that maybe I was drinking too MUCH water. Others seemed to feel that 20-30 glasses/day were not going to hinder my weight loss (I'm not worried for the purposes of this conversation about…

I give up
So I've been at this just over 3 weeks--trying to make better food choices, exercising every day (maybe 1 or 2 days off in that time, every other day I did SOMETHING), watching my calories, etc. I've even started forcing myself to eat breakfast. It's just not working. It worked briefly--I had lost 7 lbs at my 'peak' (about…

Trying Zumba tonite--advice?
So I'm giving this whole Zumba thing a shot tonite--does anyone have any advice? I have a very small lung capacity (I know it sounds crazy, they just don't hold that much air. I sneeze like a chipmunk) and so get out of breath very, very easily. Is this going to be a problem? Also, I'm extremely uncoordinated, with no…

HRM
I was considering looking into an HRM and was wondering how accurate any given one is. Are the watch ones enough or do I need to do the whole chest strap thing, etc, to get a fairly accurate readout? I'm not looking to spend a ton of money on it, I'd just like to have a better idea of how accurate MFP's calorie rates are,…

Doing everything right and still nothing?
I've been at this about 15 days now, and do pretty much everything right (I think). I eat my 1200 calories (rarely over, and if so, not by much), but not my workout calories (between 250-500/day), switched from soda to water, had only one cheat day (which wasn't even that bad)....and I still feel like I'm not getting…

Sodium!
Ok, so I've been trying to be careful with my sodium intake, and have realized that there is sodium in like EVERYTHING except straight veggies/fruit! Ack! Even 'low' sodium things have a ton of sodium! How do I lower my intake when it's in EVERYTHING?

Eating when I'm not hungry
I was at 138 cals left before I worked out. Now I have 375 to get to my 'net' 1200. But I'm REALLY not hungry (the thought of food is making me naseaus. Do I have to eat anyway?

Too much water?
Is there such a thing as too much water? I switched from diet coke to water and am drinking about 20 glasses a day, but have gained, rather than lost, weight. Is this going to go away (soon, preferably)? Am I drinking too much?

Recipie ideas for 1
So I'm trying to cook healthier/eat better. However, when I cook, it's just for me. Anyone have any good, under 300ish calorie (and not just because the serving is the size of a postage stamp, lol) recipies? I've been living on soups and lean cuisines, which are great calorie wise, but my sodium level is off the charts and…

Water
Ok, so I just changed (yesterday) from my strict policy of not drinking anything that wasn't soda, beer or wine, and have been drinking water--about 3-4.5 liters/day (so far). I got on the scale this morning and had gained 3 lbs. I was so upset b/c I've been doing really well following my calories and exercise and such, so…
