Ok, so I just changed (yesterday) from my strict policy of not drinking anything that wasn't soda, beer or wine, and have been drinking water--about 3-4.5 liters/day (so far). I got on the scale this morning and had gained 3 lbs.
I was so upset b/c I've been doing really well following my calories and exercise and such, so I'm hoping this is just my body holding onto water b/c it's afraid it won't ever get it again. I've heard that this happens when you first start drinking it and that as soon as your body realizes that its going to get more it will stop holding onto it.
I'm wondering a. if this is true and b. how long it takes for this to happen.

Normally when you first start drinking a lot of water, you'll hold onto it. I would give it a few days. If those 3 lbs came overnight, I wouldn't worry, it's the water. =)

I hope you have a lot of TP on hand. You'll be peeing up a storm soon. The water should start flushing out your system soon, but really look at your sodium intake. Sodium holds water. The other thing is pay attention to your cycles it could be coming.

As you probably know, caffeine is a diuretic, and alcohol is a dehydrater, so if you've been on a steady soda, beer, and wine diet, then you've probably been dehydrated and didn't know it.

    Give it a week!
  • Thats funny I just started the same thing I didn't have anything but Dr. pepper and Sprite for years and finally realized I had been gaining weight like crazy and didn't realize how much until I got weighed at the doctors office so I've only had water for the last two days except one can of Dr. Pepper but that was a forget about it moment that I quickly recovered from!!! Lol I wish you the best
