Oatmeal and cholesterol?
Is it broscience that oatmeal can help with cholesterol, or is it actually true?

Is maintenance hard for anyone else?
I guess I've been maintaining for 6 months now, but does it get easier? I mean, I've been on MFP for 2 years, but I still struggle and there isn't a day that goes by when I'm actually satisfied and don't wish I could eat more (except the days when I go 500 calories over maintenance or something). I mean, I'm not depriving…

Sick more often?
Ok another random thread from me. Is anyone else getting sick more often now that they are smaller? It's getting ridiculous here, every 3 weeks it seems I end up with headaches and generally just feeling exhausted for a few days. I sometimes manage to get some kind of workout in (basically some stationary bike) but most of…

Good kcups? Where to buy?
Running low on my Green Mountain kcups and I was wondering if you all have any recommendations? I like flavored coffee... Don't want to spend a lot, but I'm pretty picky (didn't like the Archer Farm stuff at all). Also, any tip to buy them cheap? I got a bunch at Kohls before Christmas but now it's much more expensive. I…

The flag feature is for SPAM
Do you guys really want the mods to remove this feature so we can be drowning in spam again? You should ONLY flag a post when it's spam. It will be removed after 5 people flag it. It's not a 'like' or 'dislike' button. Seriously. If you think a post violates the forum rules, report it. Flagging does nothing except wasting…

200 calories low carb single serve protein cheesecake
This didn't turn out half bad! 2 tablespoons Greek yogurt (I used Fage 0% plain - about 37g) 3 tablespoons low fat cream cheese (45g) 1/2 egg 1/4 tsp vanilla couple drops of lemon juice (can probably omit for chocolate) 2 tablespoons splenda 10g protein powder (I used chocolate) Soften the cream cheese, then mix it all up,…

Foods that sound great but disappoint?
Is there any food you've been really looking forward to eat but end up being disappointing? For me, oatmeal. I keep thinking of toppings and ways to make it good, or trying new kinds of oatmeal, and it sounds so good... and ends up tasting like cardboard (Trader Joe's pumpkin pecan oatmeal is ok though). And Greek yogurt…

Confused with sweet potatoes and yams
And I have no idea how to log it. My grocery store sells the white but sweet potatoes as sweet potatoes, and the orange ones as yams. When you check MFP though, yams have 30% more calories than sweet potatoes... but it seems that the 'yams' I buy are not real yams and I should still log them as sweet potatoes?…

Family dinner frustrations
Cliff notes - the kids don't like what I make, apart from a couple dishes. It doesn't matter if I add butter or cheese or both to veggies, they complain that they don't like them (they like roasted brussel sprouts, go figure). They hate fish (except fish sticks). My issue too is that dinner is my smallest meal (not by…

Why is oatmeal only good with 300+ calories of topping?
A couple weeks ago I posted that as much as I want to like oatmeal, I'm disappointed every time... Well, this was the bomb. Unfortunately, 520 calories and I was hungry 2.5 hours later. But anyway, 1.5 serving of oatmeal, 1/4 cup of milk (added after cooking), 1 tablespoon of almond butter (which really weighed pretty much…

Tell me again what's wrong with meat?

How do you log cooking spray?
I'm starting to think I should just quick add 10 calories or something every time I use it...

Easy fish recipes?
I bought some cod... hubby's getting tired of the way I cook fish though (basically baked with cajun seasoning, or I bread it with panko crumbs). Any tasty and easy recipes to make fish? I admit that I haven't found a super tasty fish recipe yet, and it's making me sad (but obviously I don't want it to be a calorie bomb…

Is anyone else a 'volume eater'? How to change it?
I keep seeing posts where people say 'just eat the same thing but less of it', or how they pack half their meal at the restaurant etc... It boggles my mind. I'm a volume eater. I need a lot of food, or I get hungry. If I make frozen veggies, I'll typically have the whole bag, for example. I'd love to be one of those people…

Donuts/cronuts in NYC (and cheesecake maybe?)
Going there on Tuesday and I really, really, want to find a good donut shop... I'd actually really love to try a good cronut. Any suggestion? The plan is to go to Central Park (probably walking from Penn Station) then see Ground Zero, but we can walk around a little. My sister also doesn't get to eat cheesecake much, so if…

Why people can't lose even though they eat 'nothing'
So I was talking to my sister, who is quite a bit heavier than I am (not that much on the scale, but you can tell her body fat is probably 5% higher than mine at least), and tells me she really doesn't eat much at all. She actually only had a bowl of soup last night (maybe 75 calories worth?) because she wasn't hungry.…

Guest for a week... what would you do?
My twin sister is coming tomorrow to stay with us for a week. I haven't seen her in 3 years, and she hasn't come to the US for 5 years. I'm just not sure how to handle it. I don't really want to go to the gym and leave her at home, considering I haven't seen her in 3 years. Typically we'd just go for walks and whatnot, but…

Gaaaaah jeans frustrations
I bought a few jeans a few months ago, and now they are getting too baggy at the butt/thighs... but fit perfectly at the waist with no muffin top (I'm a large frame, 30 inch waist, and unlikely to go much under). They're size 6, Lee brand, relaxed fit, they're high rise, which is pretty much a requirement for me, as I have…

What do you add to rice?
I kinda want to have rice with dinner tonight (we're having catfish and broccoli too), but plain rice is, well, boring. What do you typically add to it? I have both white and brown rice, both the çook in a bag' kind (because at least this way I can't burn it and it turns out perfect every time).

Figuring out your TDEE
I went through the data of the last two months, and the average seems to be about 2200 calories... but it does seem high. I know Scooby is just an approximation, but it gives me 2100 for moderately active, and I'm really not much more than that (especially now that it's cold and you won't see me go for a walk just because…

New Year's Eve dinner plans?
We're not doing anything special but I was thinking of making a nice meal, maybe (not that I typically don't, but you know)... What are you all having?

What to do with green cabbage?

Stevia causing carb cravings/hunger?
Has anyone else noticed this? I occasionally get intense cravings/hunger and I've started tracking when it happens, and it seems to happen on days when I have more stevia in the raw than usual. I'm starting to wonder if it could be linked?

Men earbuds that stay in ears?
Hubby wants some for Christmas. The cheap ones that come with phones usually fall off his ears. I love my Yurbuds, but the men ones don't have great reviews... Suggestions?

What do you serve guests for lunch?
We're having family over for lunch (well, they're not coming specifically for lunch but will be here at lunchtime). We did sandwiches, soup (butternut squash) and salad (just lettuce and tomato but I had to put dressing on it) a couple days ago, and we have some leftovers (ok the bread is mostly dinner rolls from yesterday…

I don't think I can do it
Feeling very down today. It seems I'm stuck in this cycle... I manage to keep a deficit for a couple days, then I get absolutely ravenous the next day and end up wiping my deficit. At the end of the week, I'm typically a couple hundreds calories over maintenance... which isn't a huge deal, but at this rate I'll end up…

Super easy French style apple tart (1/4 tart 265 calories)
Great alternative to apple pie for much less calories! Sorry but this isn't low carb or a 'skinny' recipe, although I guess you could use stevia or splenda instead of sugar. 1 prepared pie crust (I used pillsbury) 2 large apples (I used pink ladies) 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce 1 tsp cinnamon (or more, to taste) 2…

How much weight do you expect to gain by New Year?
I'm trying to be realistic and at this rate I'm going to try to limit the weight gain to one or two pounds... I did great last year but this year my willpower has dwindled by quite a bit! Anyone else?

1000 calories by 9am
Gosh don't you just hate those days? I was up at 4am, just couldn't go back to sleep... Was starving by 5am.. so I had breakfast. Then hungry again at 8.30am. So I had a second breakfast. I won't have lunch before noon at least, so there's that, but how do you deal on those days?
